"We returned to Hope Cottage yet again and had a wonderful stay."
Property was spotlessly clean and welcoming. We had the joy of potting up the winter hanging baskets and planters in the small courtyard garden to the rear. A really fun activity. Looking forward to our next stay already.

"Arrived late due to traffic and found no milk, it would have been appreciated to find at least one pint, the information pack is not a welcome pack."
Bedside lamps in back bedroom didn't work neither did the light above the sink. Only one hand towel for 3 people for the whole week. Weeds and dead flowers in the back yard, looked very untidy. A shame as a great location.
Hi Craig. Sorry you wanted milk and didn’t find it. Had you let me know I would have been happy to organise it for you. There’s a Waitrose,Sainsbury’s and corner shop within 5 min walk. Also sorry to hear that my cleaner didn’t leave the correct number of towels. Again, if you’d let me know I could have told you where they were stored and you could have got some more. Thanks for the heads up re the bulbs - they are being replaced and sorry things weren’t 100%. I rely on a cleaning company who sadly don’t always get it right. Apologies. Property Owner

"I would not stay at this cottage again as it is too small for 4 adults."
The fact that the weather was good meant that we could sit in the garden and use the studio at the bottom of the garden. There was not sufficient storage for clothes and there were a lack of kitchen utensils for cooking. There was no salt and pepper dispensers and no cleaning materials. So had to purchase these. The water was not draining away in the shower, on inspecting the shower waste was disgusting (full of hair, soap and scum), there was a lot of dust under the lounge chairs, around the feet of the chairs and ,on the bottom of the lamp. I left the property a lot cleaner than when we arrived. (Although I just wiped the bathroom down because it needed a deep clean). The positives were the bedrooms had televisions, the bed in the back bedroom was comfortable and the property was close to the main shops and the canal.
I‘m truly mortified that there was a problem with the cleanliness of the house. The issue has been traced back to one member of staff. Action has been taken to prevent this from happening again. Please report cleanliness issues to me or Sykes straight away so that the situation can be rectified for you as I would have done my best to address the issues had i known before you left. I’m so sorry this affected your stay. As for the size of the cottage, yes, it’s cosy but there are two lounges and both bedrooms have double beds or bigger. It’s so conveniently located it’s really just a base to explore what the local area has to offer. Best wishes. Property Owner

"This is a delightful cottage."
It has all the amenities of a home from home. It is perfectly situated for shops, dining out, canal and seafront walks.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. The location is superb! When I stay I love that I can be on the promenade within ten minutes. Hope to welcome you back one day. Kind regards, Sarah Property Owner

"We had an absolutely lovely time at Hope Cottage."
This is our second time of staying there, and we will book again as soon as we can. We love Hythe and the cottage is ideally central to everything we like to do. This time we brought our grand children and they love it there; the stable being their own space to watch T.V. and play games.

"IDEALLY SITUATED FOR SEA , SHOPS, and RESTUARANTS."
ENJOYABLE RELAXING HOLIDAY.

"Hi yes clean and very tasteful just wasn't happy with beds upstairs and toilet down stairs games room very comfy most of our evenging spent there ."
Restaurants good food access to areas okay.but unfortunate weather hampered things alittle bit .

"Property was exactly as described, note parking restrictions will be enforced going forwards."
Slight issue with existing rubbish in bottom of kitchen bin, otherwise all good.

"It's a lovely cottage and the owner has made the decor very homely."
However, we found some aspects very impractical. Having no TV on the ground floor of the main house just didn't work for us. Our stay was immediately after the Queen's death and It meant that we couldn't come back and catch up on the day's news while cooking and eating our evening meal. We had to wait till after we'd eaten and go out in the dark, chilly (and sometimes rainy) night, crossing a stony uneven courtyard to watch TV in the games room. Bizarrely, there were TVs in each bedroom but it would have been cramped to watch TV there with no comfortable seating also a bit anti social. On the positive side the cottage was well located for local restaurants and shopping. Only 15 minutes walk from a very clean promenade and beach and easy to get to Kent's attractions further afield.

"What a wonderful place to stay everything needed was there and more only downside was it does say parking outside onm the listing this is probably old as it is now oermit holders only."
left a bottle pf prosecco to say thankyopu as had no pen for the guest book.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I’m glad you enjoyed your stay at my cottage. The parking is in the process of being rezoned into residents only & I will apply for a permit just as soon as the council update their website & allow me to! Hopefully, this should make parking even easier in the future. Property Owner

"A lovely well situated cottage that is close to all necessary amenities."
Great welcome pack and beautiful decor. Parking is not an issue as there is both street and pay car park options. The only thing that let the stay down for us was the neighbour and the inability to have a lay in due to either her TV blaring at 6am or talking on her phone loudly in the back garden from about 6.30am. Not a problem if you are an early riser but was hoping for a couple of sleep ins to feel fully rested. Will definitely check out their other property as this one was quality.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the great location of the cottage and the welcoming touches. I’m sorry that my neighbour interrupted your mornings . I have brought the issue to her attention and asked her to keep the noise down in the morning when she wakes up. Property Owner

"There were a few plumbing issues which were dealt with and the owner was helpful."
It was strange to have 3 TVs and no TV in the living room (or music, no radio etc). There was an annex in the garden which we could use which had a TV but when it is raining this is not ideal. Also the info on the cottage said we could use the mezzanine in the annex, but information on site said do not use. Info on your website needs to be amended accordingly. Overall lovely cottage but if you have kids some form of entertainment in the main social area is needed.
Thank you for providing feedback. There is now a Sony speaker in the kitchen that you can connect your phone to & listen to music. I’m sorry you were disappointed by the lack of a TV in the kitchen/ lounge but I felt it was busy enough. Property Owner

"Lovely cosy cottage with super comfortable beds!"
Fantastic location for exploring Hythe for a few days - very close to the High Street and only a short walk to the sea front. I was able to walk or cycle everywhere I wanted and leave the car parked for a few days. Bliss.

"Had a great time away in this lovely cottage, great loaction, and everything you would need in the cottage!"
We were lucky to have good weather so could enjoy sitting in the garden too! All facilities on your doorstep plenty of places to eat and drink. If you fancy going further out there is a fantastic pub in Romney called The Woolpack (15th Century) the food was 10/10!

"Fabulous cottage in a central location."
Good facilities & extra welcoming touches.
-
"Beautiful cottage, perfect location near the high street & a short walk from the beach."
Lovely thoughtful touches throughout & the most comfortable beds! Will definitely be back.
-
"Lovely layout, great location, great communication from owner, nice touches upon arrival."

"Stylish cottage with well thought through use of space."
A true home from home experience. A main room for quiet relaxing and meals and a games / film room plus sunny garden. The owners were supportive and responsive in resolving a couple of teething issues (newly available for rental). Well located close to high street restaurants (Sunshine Turkish excellent) and pubs - Noiys noodles also excellent). Close to beautifully landscaped canal and beach. Waitrose 2 mins away with a Sainsbury and Aldi a short drive away. Hythe is a lovely base to relax in and to explore Kent.
-
"We left a note about the drainage of the shower - it was exceptionally slow for water to drain - maybe a blockage?"
Also it would have been nice to have a dishwasher!! Cottage was very clean. There are no wardrobes in the 2 bedrooms - not much space fir clothes to hang - hooks on back if doors.
-
"We had a great stay in this lovely cottage which is only a short walk from the sea."
Small, but really well furnished and tastefully done. Great base to explore the surrounding area.
-

About the location
HYTHE
Folkestone 4.3miles; Channel Tunnel 4 miles; Dymchurch 6 miles; Dover 13 miles, Canterbury 20 miles.
Hythe is one of the five original Cinque Ports identifed by Edward the Confesssor as ports that would provide ships and sailors to protect this part of the English coastline from invaders, and in exchange the towns would retain all legal fees assigned in court cases. Of course this made these towns far more prosperous than most towns of the same size, and the result of this can still be seen by visitors when visiting Hythe. Running through the centre of the town is The Royal Military Canal. This was dug during the Napoleonic era as a defensive measure against possible French invasion. Now this lovey waterway is more popular with walkers and those taking a break from work; the grassy banks are a delightful place to picnic or sit and read. You can even hire a rowing boat and row yourself along the Canal and this unique part of Kent. A five minute stroll from the town and you will find yourself on the sea front. This wide promenade overlooks a long stretch of beach, with views over the English Channel to France, it is ideal for a summer picnic and safe bathing. Hythe offers visitors so much with golf, tennis, riding, bowls, squash, boating, windsurfing, freshwater and sea angling all available. Romney Marsh lies west of the town and can be explored by foot, car, bicycle or using the world's smallest public railway. Hythe is the eastern terminus for the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway, so why not climb aboard and alight at Dungeness where you can visit the nature reserve, explore the lighthouse, and perhaps get a chance to see some painters and artists at work, before returning by the narrow gauge railway back to the delights of Hythe.
