  • "The ‘Old Post Office’ was a charming, very well appointed holiday home in the Kent countryside."

It’s a very peaceful location with some lovely walks on your doorstep and several local pubs not too far away. Ashford is only a short drive away, as is the nearest seaside. Buses a bit infrequent so probably need a car although bus stops right outside. Everything you could possibly need is here, the accommodation has loads of space for everyone, it’s the sort of property it is easy to relax and feel at home in. A little unusual having a kitchen and lounge both upstairs and downstairs but surprisingly handy. Welcome packs and milk in both fridges on arrival. Detailed information and guidance for guests well thought through. We enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again.

You have all you need to put together a feast in the kitchen, equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer and even a dishwasher so washing up is effortless!

Move into the dining room to enjoy a deliciously prepared meal as you chat about the holiday so far, with thought about what is next to come whilst enjoying our wood burning stove.

On the ground floor you can discover a double and twin bedroom, ideal for the older members of the group, while upstairs offers a double and single bedded, offering a variety of sleeping arrangements.

The first floor also occupies a quiet sitting room and a useful kitchenette/diner boasting similar appliances to downstairs, providing plenty of options for guests.

On a warm evening, take yourself out to the garden and relax at the furniture, sipping on a glass of rosé while the children have fun on the grass.

Stroll into Hamstreet to find a small selection of amenities, including a convenience store for picking up any essentials and a pub and Indian restaurant, perfect if you want to take a night off cooking.

If the weather’s good, be sure to soak up the sun at St. Mary’s Bay, a sandy stretch between Dymchurch and Littlestone-on-Sea, providing ideal conditions for sandcastle building, swimming and snorkelling.

HAMSTREET

Ivychurch 4.3 miles; West Hythe 8.8 miles; Ashford 9 miles.

The village of Hamstreet lies 6 miles south of Ashford on the A road between Ashford and Hastings. Until the coming of the railway in 1853, Hamstreet was just a hamlet known as ‘Ham’ based around the village centre which contains many buildings in the traditional Kentish weatherboard style. Today, the village is known for offering a selection of independent shops, cafés, a convenience store, a pub and an Indian restaurant. Surrounding the village are two large areas of public woodland, namely Ham Street Woods and Orlestone Forest, which are both regarded as Sites of Special Scientific Interest. Nearby, the villages of Appledore, Ivychurch and Kingsnorth offers a wealth of history and culture, along with some fascinating attractions.
