  • "Was always taught If you can’t say anything nice."

Say nothing at all. Needless to say WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND GOING HERE

It is with great regret that we find ourselves having to respond to this review and it has taken us some time to consider what to say but it is important that future potential guests understand a little better the background. All of the issues raised by the guests related to the pool and pool area. They were raised on one particular day, early in the guests’ stay after some very severe weather. Clearly we cannot control the weather which had an adverse impact on the pool, but to address this and the other two issues, the owners did all we could on the day that we were notified and within 24 hours, maintenance staff had come in to finish off the work started by the owners such that the pool and its surroundings were in a suitable condition, and approved personally by the guests. The owners also offered to pay for the guests to eat at a local pub by way of an apology but were advised they felt we had reacted quickly to their issues and that was sufficient. Regrettably a week after their departure Sykes contacted us with all the same issues and advised that compensation was being demanded. This was quite a surprise to the owners, having had it refused in person, but as they had previously offered, they duly gave what they had suggested. Some days later this review appeared on the website. Whilst the owners acknowledge some things were not as they should have been, they have found this quite disturbing after their reaction and service to rectify the problems was greeted with approval and thanks at the time. As in all areas of life, mistakes do happen but it is how they are addressed and rectified that is important. Property Owner

  • "Enjoyed our stay."

Good, clean and well-equipped cottage and great swimming pool. However, it is unacceptable to even mention the tennis court as a facility as it was in an unplayable condition, which was disappointing. Also, loose paving stones, especially on the steps, need fixing as an accident could happen. Final comment is that if you state 'no pets' you should also warn customers that you have a dog that wanders around the garden. No matter how well-behaved Digby is, some people may have a problem with dogs.

Dear guest, Thank you for your feedback and positive comments. I have discussed the tennis court with Sykes and asked that all images are removed, we don't list it as a feature as i agree it's not playable so i apologise for any out dated images that were misleading. We have begun work to fix the loose paving stones as well as other maintenance work to the grounds. Thank you also for your comments about Digby, usually the owners will ask all guests if they are ok with dogs or not and he will be kept away if there are any concerns but i fully appreciate your feedback and will again have this added to the listing for customer awareness. Thank you and kind regards Heath Retreat Management Property Owner
