  • "We stayed at this very pleasant property with three teenage grandchildren and it met our needs perfectly."

They were impressed with location, facilities etc and so were we. It was clean, tidy and very well equipped. Two bathrooms was perfection. They did enjoy the bedroom layout. The beach directly in front of the property was a bonus. Initial reservations on parking availability (it is limited) were overcome by the very frequent and cheap bus service. Stops are almost outside the door from both directions. In short we managed easily. All in all we enjoyed the break. Children want to do a repeat next year.

  • "A nice bright flat with a lovely view."

Everything that was needed was there. Only consideration to be taken before booking this flat is the stairs. Stairs to the flat and steepish stairs to 2 bedrooms and bathroom. We had a nice stay and would go back.

  • "Great location, well equipped apartment."

Don’t be put off by the entrance lobby this is shared and dated . Beds comfortable and plenty of seating , great view from the lounge. Two bathrooms , but note only one standing shower this worked fine for the four of us but with 6 people may be more challenging. Good value for money would definitely recommend.

  • "The property was exactly as described and a superb location."

It was very comfortable, light and airy. The whole house was well decorated and fitted out even including extras like washing up liquid etc. The range and quality of glasses and crockery was impressive and the whole apartment felt of good quality. I would love to stay there again and would definitely recommend it. Thanks.

  • "Very nice recently refurbished apartment."

The welcome pack was a lovely touch. It was a shame that the communal entrance to the building was unwelcoming with creaking stairs all the way up and in the apartment. The lower bathroom had no shower curtain so we could not use the handheld shower over the bath without flooding and damaging the bathroom. All 5 adults and 1 child ended up using the upper floor bathroom shower. The lock in this bathroom did not work. The trundle bed was more suitable for children than adults. On bin collection day (Wednesday) we had to put the wheely bins and recycling box onto the pavement by 7 am and then take them back after they were emptied. (Even then the recycling box was not completely emptied - only our stuff which were in bags were taken).

Many thanks for your feedback. We are really glad you enjoyed the apartment which was completely refitted and refurbished a few years ago to a high standard. The welcome pack is our thank you for choosing Fairlight View! Fairlight View is part of a Victorian building which now dates back over 150 years so the original staircase can be forgiven for creaking a little. The lower bathroom does not have a separate shower cubicle but for those wishing to enjoy a relaxing bath and rinse their hair, we've installed a handheld shower for convenience. The bathroom lock will of course be checked and adjusted. Property Owner

  • "The entrance to the property was disgusting cobwebs and dirty floors lots of old letters."

The property itself was ok, but there were no warnings about the amount of stairs the stairs were dangerous with carpet coming up. This is not the high standard that we expect from Sykes. It would make us think again about booking another holiday with you.

Thank you for your feedback which relates to the communal entrance of the building and not the apartment itself. The cobweb, the letters and the carpet have now been addressed. A thorough inspection of the carpet has been completed and we are pleased to report that the carpet is safe. The apartment enjoys 180-degree views from Calais to Boulogne and beyond. So, to obtain such views, a few steps do have to be negotiated as the maisonette is over three floors. Many of our guests have commented on how fantastic the view of the coast line is from the apartment! Property Owner

It was well equipped, modern, spacious & bright, right on the esplanade with glorious sea views. The welcome pack was a really thoughtful touch from the owners Tony & Chris who were ready to help with any questions on the phone. It was perfect for our week visiting Folkestone & enjoying walking along the coast & the Downs. It certainly exceeded our expectations.

  • "We stayed at the Fairlight View Apartment for the New Years Celebration with family for a week."

This place offers a stunning view of the sea from the living room & 2 of the bedrooms. During our stay, we were able to experience the first sunrise on New Years day. Sunset could also be viewed on a clear day. The bedrooms are spacious & all the amenities needed are available. The place was clean when we arrived. The sea was right at our doorstep & we were lucky to have a New years dip. Would like to come back. Thanks to Chris & Tony who were contactable and very helpful during our stay.Would highly recommend this place especially in the summer.

Many thanks for your kind feedback . So glad you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back to Fairlight View in the future if you ever need to stay in Sandgate again. Kind regards, Tony & Chris Property Owner

  • "It was touch or go whether my family and I would make it from Australia to see family but we did."

When we arrived everything was really clean and tidy, a care package of food and drink in the apartment helped us with the first few days. It felt like Christmas with the tree and lights. We stayed for three weeks and the apartment was cleaned twice. The owner was very helpful. A great spot with a fantastic view and could hear the sea every night. There are a few stairs to contend with, but the view more than compensates for it. Graham

Set over two floors, with amazing sea views, Fairlight View is a well-situated setting for discovering Kent, within easy reach of Folkestone and Dover.

You enter the apartment at the first-floor of the building, then climbing half a set of stairs, there is the first bathroom, before finishing the stairs to the lower floor of the apartment, where you will find a contemporary kitchen/diner, the perfect space to rustle up an evening meal to enjoy round the dining table, as you talk about your day by the coast.

Moving through to the sitting room, there is a large bay window with immaculate views out to sea where the lights of France can be seen in the evening.

A television is located next to a feature fireplace making for an ideal place to relax, there is also an adjoining bedroom with a quirky trundle bed that also doubles as a great reading spot to enjoy the sea views.

Climbing to the second floor of the apartment, you will find a storage room, a king-size room with more sea views and a further twin room which make for great places to escape to whilst you rejuvenate for another busy day.

There is also a spacious bathroom with a bath with shower head and a walk-in shower, so choose how to freshen up for the day ahead in your own style, whether that be a long soak in the bath or a shower.

Sandgate is a small village on the south coast, between Hythe and Folkestone, boasting a 16th century castle which is now a Grade I listed private residency, as well as shops, bars, eateries, many of which look out over the esplanade.

Sandgate has a fairly long stretch of beach, great for picnics, a barbecue with fresh seafood, walks and also for watersports enthusiasts to get their thrill of adventure.

A short drive, or a lovely walk along the beach, takes you into Folkestone which is home to a wonderful harbour, surrounded my bars and eateries.Slightly further, you can reach the historical town of Dover, which is home to the international ferry port, so if you fancy a quick trip to grab some cheese and wine, it can connect you to a glorious day out in France, in just under an hour.

Also in Dover, there is a unique 18th century triple spiral stair case known as The Grand Shaft, Dover Castle and medieval tunnels which now offer tours, museums and galleries, a bustling marina and pier, and an English Heritage Roman Lighthouse.

A short distance from Dover lies St. Margaret’s Bay where a coastal walk provides you breath-taking views of the white cliffs and the English Channel.

Take in the quint coastal village that was once home to Ian Flemming (James Bond creator) and Noel Coward, and enjoy a coffee at the lighthouse while watching the ferries arriving from the continent.

Also nearby Fairlight View is Port Lympne Nature Reserve, the Dymchurch miniature railway connecting Hythe with the surreal landscape of Dungeness and the Kent Down Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which makes for great walking and cycling adventures through some scenic trails.

103 Martello Towers were built in the 19th century as small defensive forts, and with 27 of them lining the coast of Kent, the place is full of history and you can still visit 16 which still remain, starting with five in Folkestone, four in Sandgate and following through Hythe and Dymchurch.

For a historical and action packed trip to Kent, choose Fairlight View as your beachfront base.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £350.
