  • "Had a lovely stay, just a couple of minutes from the beach."

Lots of space with everything I needed. I didn't use the shared garden as felt it would intrude on the people staying in the garden house but was able to take my dog for quick short walks just outside the front of the house. I struggled with the heating but didn't really need it after the first day or 2. If staying in the winter, it may need some clearer instructions. The sofa was not as comfortable as it could be. Overall had a lovely stay, thank you.

  • "Very cosy cottage, close to all amenities, everything you could ask for, sofa has seen its years, just needs replacing, or supply two cosy arm chairs."

Pillows were flat would have brought my own. 2 min walk to all shops and to the beach, great for walking the dog, would recommend this cottage to others.

thank you for your feedback I am bak in mid October when I intend to replace the sofa bed so thank you for this Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage and well equipped."

Not so keen on polyester duvet but just my preference. Couldn’t get heating to work but Marian the owner very helpful. Pity about the building works opposite as made it difficult to enter the drive. Very convenient for bus and town and my dog loved the 2 minute walk to the sea. Would go again but bring my own duvet

  • "We had a very nice stay at the cottage."

We met the owner who was very helpful. Car parking very handy, the position of the cottage is great for access to all areas of the town and shops. Also it is very easy to get to the routes out to the rest of the Kent.

  • "It's a lovely, modern, and well-maintained property."

It was very clean, the bathroom is great, and the WiFi worked well. Parking is secure. The location is excellent - just a short walk into the harbour and town centre (and Whitstable is very lovely). Would use again.

Thank you for your feedback and for being my guests. I am of course delighted with my property especially as for 4 years I had squatters who wojild not leave so I am never ever going to rent to long term tenants again. Keep in touch as you may wish to do so. And WhITSTABLE AND TANKERTON are both very special places. Thank youi Marion the owner Property Owner

  • "Nice and light and airy."

A great location with the all important off street parking. Air fryer was a revelation, instructions in the bottom drawer. Lovely walk in shower and only a nice stroll into town. Stop at Ark music and coffee on your way in. We'll be back.

  • "As there was no cooker at the property it would have been useful to have had an instruction manual for the ninja fryer, for people like myself who have not used one before."

Also strange there was an ironing board but no iron. Have stayed at many of Sykes cottages, but this is the first where there has been no sort of welcome on arrival or any advise on the area,in fact had there been a problem there wasn’t anyone to contact, very impersonal. On the good side once we found our way around the area, the cottage is in an excellent position for exploring Whitstable.

Thank you for your feedback. The instruction book was in the bottom drawer of the Cottage kitchen. We have checked and the instruction bok is still there and we will insure that it is visible in the future. Property Owner

  • "The property generally was quite good but with a few problems."

    1. The wooden slats under the mattress were damaged causing the mattress to fall though them the first time I used it. I managed to patch them up temporarily. 2. The bedding was awful. All polyester- causing my wife and I to sweat profusely, made worse by the warm weather. We ended up buying a new cotton duvet cover, sheet and pillowcases. 3. The shower was excellent (one of the best I have ever used) but the shallowness of the shower tray meant I had to keep checking to see if it was overflowing. 4. Wi-Fi. Couldn't get it to work on any of our devices. Maybe it was my ineptitude. Maybe it was the complicated password which had been written with amendments added to it. Very frustrating. I gave up with it. 5. The Ninja had not been washed/cleaned prior to our arrival. There was a significant amount of oil and food residue left in it. I cleaned the inside containers myself but they were pretty grubby and needed soaking, suggesting to me they had not been cleaned properly for some time. 6. The house itself was good apart from the above niggles. The location was fantastic with easy walking access to the beach, Whitstable and Tankerton. The bus stopping outside was a real bonus allowing us to travel to Canterbury and Herne Bay. 7. Sykes. I didn't like doing business with the rental company. I thought the tone of their emails to be abrupt bordering on threatening. I was surprised by the booking fee. They charged me for a pet which I did not request. I won't book through them again.

I welcome your feedback, The bed has been attended to bed and the iron has been replaced. I am sorry that these niggles affected the full pleasure of your stay in my cottage and have reported to the company your references to their tone of doing business was not as I thught this to be Again many thanks for your feedback. About the location

WHITSTABLE

Herne Bay 5 miles; Canterbury 7 miles.

The lively town of Whitstable, which is known as the “Pearl of Kent”, dates back to before the Domesday Book. Its seaside location makes it ideal for watersports all year round, and its fishing heritage is reflected by the Oyster Festival, which takes place every July. The buzzing local museum/art gallery introduces around six new exhibitions each year, and has a fabulous coffee shop. Whitstable Castle dates back to the 1790’s, and hosts events all year round including a big May Day celebration with contributions from local musicians and artists. The town is home to a small, independent brewery, and any need for retail therapy will easily be satisfied by the range of both national stores and charming small, independent shops. Whitstable is also home to The Pearsons Arm, a gastropub owner by celebrity chef Richard Phillips and nearby in Seasalter is the Michelin star-awarded gastropub, The Sportsman which is also well worth a visit. The city of Canterbury, with its fine 6th century cathedral is just 7 miles away; also nearby is Herne Bay, from where on a clear day you can see as far as Southend and the Isle of Sheppey.
