  • "This is our second stay."

Love the house and the location. Beds lovely and comfortable. Found the slow cooker really helpful. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, it was well used. We will hopefully book again as we all really enjoyed the holiday. Found the house and swimming area a little cold at times. The heating was controlled remotely and locked so we could not change the schedule. We would much have preferred to have been in control of the times and temperatures. The central heating is noisy when it comes on in the morning, no chance of a sleep in. Disappointed the beautiful fireplace now has a fan heater in front of it. We did need to use the fan heater as at times cold it was cold. The master bedroom toilet is freezing. Would be great if there were more plates available so the dishwasher didn’t have to be on as often. I hope this does not sound to negative, but more as positive feedback for improvements, as the house is beautiful.

Where you’ll be staying

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
