"Great property lovely and homely really felt comfortable."
Lovely and clean. Owner pop over with a fire stick so nothing to much trouble for them would definitely go back.

"Although the location of this property is fantastic, we do not recommend it as somewhere to stay on holiday."
Poorly equipped with miss-matched cutlery, few plates, bowls, mugs etc. just enough for the amount of people which isn’t great! Most importantly no blind or curtain on widow in the double bedroom upstairs- the neighbours over the road could literally watch us sleeping (it is a velux window that is below the height of the over road neighbours bedroom so they can literally look down into the room)!!!! Not to mention having nothing to block the light when we were trying to sleep! The upstairs shower is duct taped to the floor so very wobbly and the downstairs shower leaks into the hallway to a huge extent and as it is tiled flooring makes a huge safety issue- our children slipped a couple of times despite us mopping after every shower. The double bed upstairs is also very uncomfortable and lumpy! The owners clearly do not care about the property or about the comfort of the people staying there, it’s a shame as the layout is great and lovely location. Also the property was not in a clean state when we arrived. There was so so much dog hair from previous stays- there were literally hair balls in the corners of the living room and we had to retrieve a toy from under the sofa- I wish we left it there as it was covered in dust and hair! There was cutlery in the draw that still had oil and what we think was honey on so we then had to wash everything to make sure it was clean enough to use. Sorry, we cannot recommend this property and hope Sykes contact the owner regarding the lack of privacy/ blinds in the double room upstairs as well as the safety issues regarding both showers.
I appreciate your feedback but stress 6 of everything regarding cutlery is more than adequate sometimes cutlery gets broken damaged or goes missing unfortunately it is just not possible to replace with a full set evertime an item goes missing I have now contacted the cleaners to explain and they say that sometimes the place is left very untidy and dog hairs everywhere which takes longer to clean on a same day changeover mistakes have been made we apologise new steps have been made to rectify the problem We the owners care deeply about Beckside House and we are constantly making improvements 1 the velux windows now have fitted blinds 2 The shower now has a safety trim around the shower and acroos the door (I have done some research and apparently it is a common problem ) it took so long because we did not want to fit a cubicle which would mean a really small cubicle and a wetroom is for disabled people a simple towel across the door would have solved the problem we leave plenty of towels even for dogs etc The bed is less than 1 year old I do apologise that is wasnt as comfortable as you wished but nobody has made me aware of any problems regarding the bed before we will look into it and replace it if necessary Beckside House is a bright modern and lovely bungalow in a buetifull location which many people have enjoyed we are constanly improving people experience with upgrades and hard work I hope you feel as though though you comeback with someday and enjoy a fantastic holiday Regards J Burlinson Property Owner

"Property was lovely and spacious very modern an felt homely."
It was a lovely village to stay in. We did find the oven /microwave and fridge not very clean. The shower in the downstairs bathroom when using the top shower head causes the water to go out under the door into the hallway. In the kitchen there was little cutlery 4 forks and 1 dessert spoon between 6 of us. The patio door (left side) key when used to unlock had snapped. Being a dog owner I found it surprising there were no gate/fence around the property to keep the dog in. A blind in the upstairs double bedroom would also benefit from a blind in the velux window. Also had trouble connecting to the WIFI password was incorrect when enter from the back of the router and there were a couple passwords written in the comment book which we struggled to read if some where capital letters/numbers. We tried to call mobile number thats was left which was not recognised. I think if these little things were addressed it would have been a more pleasurable stay.
Hi sorry about you experiencing a few difficulties a lot of things have been upgraded shower blinds on Velux windows cutlery is allways going missing or broken and it is constant battle to replace there should have been 6 of everthing and you should have just contacted me and I would have replaced anything miss immediately Beckside house is a wonderfull newly built bungalow full of modern equipment but unfortunately due planning restrictions we are not permitted to erect a fence which is ok as I do not want dogs running around barking etc upsetting neighbours I prefer people to keep dogs on leads desription and photo,s states thereis no fence The keys have all been replaced with sturdier keys and they should not snap again We live in an area allthough very buetifull sometimes mobile reception is very poor a simple txt message will allways get through to me and I will respond the same day Regards J Burlinson Property Owner

"Excellent, quiet location."
Off-road parking for 3 cars which is important if people are coming from different places. Modern, bright, clean, warm property. Everything was set up for a thoroughly enjoyable week exploring the Lakes and lovely coastal areas and towns.

"We had a great stay at Beckside House, great location, beautiful house."
It was good to get basics like toilet paper, soap, etc. Hopefully we will get to return soon.

"The property was not cleaned thoroughly prior to our arrival- dust and pet hair everywhere."
The bathroom doors were also difficult to close completely and had no locks. The bottom floor shower leaked in to the hallway. Property did not have a smart tv so had to buy chrome-cast to enjoy netflix and youtube. Cooking utensils were flimsy and burnt. Also the knives provided were small and blunt. No hand wash gel, oven gloves, drying rack for dishes, hair dryer provided.

"We had a wonderful stay at Beckside House so much so could have stayed there forever."
The property exceeded out expectations to a very high level. The Host’s were very kind and delivered a basket of goodie’s on the day of our arrival. This property is extremely high spec and provided more than we could have wanted. Excellent location and neighbours very friendly.

About the location
COCKERMOUTH
Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.
The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.
