  • "Full marks for 'getting it exactly right'."

Nicely sized/designed bungalow, with just the facilities needed/equipment in kitchen, without any extraneous 'stuff' that we would never use. Step down from kitchen to conservatory was oddly challenging. Some searches on Google Maps suggests a path exists at the rear of property that would be a short cut to town, but this does not exist and you HAVE to walk via Brundholme Road (not a problem for us). Rabbits may seem an odd asset, but walking back late evening amongst the semi-tame bunnies hopping around Briar Rigg was magic!

The double bed was very comfortable.

  • "Lovely little property in a quiet area, pleasant gardens and views ."

We will most likely book another visit sometime soon. WiFi would be a good addition to the property as phone signal is a bit restricted in the area.

  • "Generally a lovely property."

We did miss the covenants of Wi-Fi as our mobile data didn’t work in the area and looking up attractions and other information was difficult. It was fantastic weather which meant the conservatory was too hot to use and as a result meant we ate in the kitchen in shifts as only two kitchen stools available. However the other room were great and the location was great especially for Fitz park which kept our two children amused most days. We plan to return next year.

  • "*The site was too far from the centre of Keswick."

I was told it was 10 minutes on foot. It took me 25-30 mins. downhill. * The hot water was boiling. Although there was a notice to this effect, it was still dangerous. There was no basin and only one sink in the kitchen. * The bin in the kitchen was far too small, especially as there was no re-cycling available. * The steps into the conservatory were pointed out by a notice, but the width of the top step made it impossible to use. The handrail and bar helped, but only if one was not carrying anything. As this was where the dining table and chairs were situated, one was always carrying items to set the table, and at times hot plates and food. This was dangerous! * The teapot was very heavy and only held 2 cups of tea. * The cooker was very slow to heat and the oven very low down, which was very difficult for us. * The contents of the kitchen were lacking a number of utensils e.g. a pizza cutter, tongs and salad servers. Casserole dishes and other serving dishes were not provided. * We had cause to move the fridge as something had rolled under it, and it was dirty underneath. * There was a damp smell in the bathroom, possibly caused by the shower curtain. The boiling water caused problems when trying to wash your hands. * The paving outside the conservatory door was broken and hazardous, there being nothing to hold on to. * The drop from the area of garden at the back to a lower area was scary. * I could go on, but the overall impression was that this property was unsafe and very tired. We have rented accommodation in Keswick for the convention for more then 20 years, and this is the first time we have been disappointed, as the price was comparable to 1st class accommodation. This is the first time I have booked with Sykes Cottages, and, if this is the standard of your properties, I will not be using your company nor recommending it to friends and relatives. I look forward to hearing from you.

  • "We found Brimbles to be very comfortable and had all we needed for a lovely stay."

It was fresh, clean and well set up. The walk into Keswick, the Fitz park, was lovely. The bungalow is close to some lovely walks and the town, but is in a quiet cul de sac and has a lovely view from the lounge window. The garden and patio area was a nice place to sit out. We would visit again.

  • "Well situated bungalow."

We have stayed twice before. On our previous visit we had a problem with the Electrics ..... which was resolved. This time we had an issue with the hot water / immersion heater..... again fixed promptly but the issue stopped us going out for one day. We would recommend this bungalow, generally, despite the maintenance issues.

  • "Had a lovely week at brimbles."

Property has everything you need. Only downside was towards the end of the week it turned quite cold and the little heaters provided didn't seem to help. Storage heaters didn't seem to provide any heat either although we have no experience of these. Lovely walks from the door, parking which is a bonus and the conservatory and garden was lovely to sit in in the evening.

  • "In a lovely quiet cul-desac."

The kitchen was adequate but the fridge was very small. The double bed was comfortable but no drawer space but there were shelves. The living room was comfortable. Because of the lack of true central heating could be cold in the winter. Lastly NO WiFi. We should have checked properly. Although in a pleasant area would not go again.

Facilities inside seemed fine never really used the Kitchen we ate out on our hikes. Some nice views of latrigg from the front window and nice garden with plenty of parking and pheasant pub close by (lovely food)

  • "Pleasant homely bungalow."

Very pleased with location as we could walk into town and it was nice and quiet where we were. Conservatory was good for watching the rabbits on the lawn - just a slight concern about the steps down from the kitchen, although hand rails are provided. Plenty of info provided on how to use the facilities and lots of nice touches, thank you.

  • "This is the second stay we have had at Brimbles."

On the whole we like it, however this latest 2 week stay was slightly marred by a fault in the electrical system when a trip switch tripped out twice in one day with no apparent reason. The situation of maintenance was slightly confusing with the first port of call being the owner rather than Sykes Cottages so the numbers called on the day were a little confusing.

It was clean and comfortable. The conservatory is lovely to eat in and watch the wildlife that visits. We had good weather during our stay so the garden furniture was a bonus to sit out in in the evening. Parking space is welcome and it is only a short walk into the town center. We did have an issue with the TV but lakelovers is dealing with this and it didn't spoil our stay.

  • "The holiday cottage is well equipped, I would say that the paint colours on the walls are very relaxing."

The twin cot easily fits a travel cot in. Though we didn't know a highchair and cot were provided so we brought our own. Although a new washing up bowl and thing to drain cutlery would have improved the washing up exsperence. The views are lovely and we enjoy the lush foliage in the garden. I enjoyed the short walk into town though the park to nearby the pencil factory. The park has lots of goid quality children's play equipment. The fridge also has a draw sized freezer compartment, which is useful. We enjoyed sitting in the conservatory.

  • "The holiday cottage is conveniently located, very clean and the living room is very comfortable, but everything else about the property is cheap, cheap, cheap."

No wifi, which I only realised after booking, and wouldn't be an issue but we have no mobile service either. Other issues - Decor in the property is extremely dated, its like being back in the 80s. Not enough hooks or rails for damp towels. TV remote doesn't work. No remote for the DVD player at all Hardly any loo roll left when we arrived so we had to do without until we could work out where the nearest shop was (not easy with no internet). Not enough power sockets in the bedrooms. No dishwasher or freezer Kitchen poorly equipped Table in the conservatory very small for 4 people and felt very flimsy No courtesy books, games or puzzles Very disappointing seeing as we paid nearly £1000 for this property for a week. Would not come back here.
