"We had a great time at the Crook."
Comfortable, clean, everything you would need for a week away. The area was lovely, great pub and the weather was superb. Great location for visiting the Lake District.
-
"Second time in this lovely house."
Excellent facilities.
-
"Warm, comfortable, good facilities, lovely decor, felt at home, peaceful and had all we needed."
Convenient as well as peaceful immediate location, good food at the friendly local pub (walking distance) and within easy access to many beautiful places in the Lake District. Owner kindly and graciously contacted us afterwards to return an item we had left behind. We would be very happy to book this cottage again when next we have opportunity to visit this area. Thank you.

"A beautiful cosy cottage."
Tastefully decorated. 2 of us stayed and there was plenty of space. Very comfortable lounge area and beds. Well thought out, with the entrance as a utility room where we could keep wet clothes/ dirty boots etc. It was very well equipped - the only real extras we bought for the kitchen were washing up sponges and kitchen roll. In a great location, easy to get to from M6 and easy to get out to a variety of walks and exploring local towns. The small village is very cute with a pub serving great food opposite and a small shop - all within a stones throw. The public outdoor swimming pool was also opposite and a beautiful church at the end of the road.

"We have had a wonderful week in the Crook."
Although located in the centre of the village the cottage is quiet with a lovely back yard to enjoy on a sunny evening. The little village shop and excellent pub are just across the road, very handy. The owners have thought of everything, exceptionally clean and very comfortable and tasteful furnishings. We would not hesitate to recommend the Crook.

"Lovely cottage with nice views."
Quiet location in easy reach of lakeland walks. Very comfortable and excellent facilities.

"The cottage was lovely."
It has everything you need! Lots of kitchen equipment and a really comfy bed! It’s in a quiet location, perfect for exploring the lakes.
-
"A beautiful cottage."
Very clean, very comfortable and everything you could need for a wonderful holiday. The beds are super comfy and all towels and linen of high quality. The location is perfect for exploring the Lakes and surrounding areas. We would highly recommend and definitely return without hesitation.

"Exceptionally clean and warm, beautifully decorated and furnished wouldn't hesitate booking property again,"
-
"Absolutely fabulous quality furnishings."
We thought the cottage was expensive at first maybe due to rising costs. But the quality and facilities were excellent. Maybe a tumble dryer would be icing on cake. Minor point is the parking was risky for unloading loading etc, however a free village car park only 3 min walk away.

"We found 'The Crook' to be delightful in every way, well appointed, situated in a lovely village, an ideal situation for exploring the upper areas of the lake district without getting gri dlocked in the 'honeypot' areas."
also venturing into Dumfries & Galloway is an easy and worthwhile trip. the cottage itself had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, roomy, comfortable, quiet, we would happily recommend 'the crook' to anyone.

"Great choice for the Northern lakes area - really good location for exploring the area."
We also loved walking around the friendly village. We also managed to park right outside, though there is a carpark just around the corner. Super clean, well equipped and very well-appointed with nice hot showers. The living room in particular was very hygge and had a decent sized TV (some places have tiny ones!). BYO Netflix passwords etc. The only minor grumble would be that with 4 adults, it was a bit of a squeeze in the kitchen with pulling the dining table out for us all to be seated. Dishwasher brilliant (tablets provided). Book for the Clickham Inn pub, supermarket Booths just down in Penrith and must visit for Rheged. If you go to the cinema, there are no ads so be on time! The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is on at the moment (a bargain £5) so definitely do visit, plus there's excellent cake. We also really appreciated the entrance hallway as super handy to have the central area - a shoe rack would be handy in future. Washing machine appreciated (byo powder etc) and there is 1 clothes horse. Would happily book again.

"We had an excellent stay."
Being walking distance to a pub, shop and swimming pool was amazing. During our stay, we had an issue with the en-suite toilet, but it was fixed within a day. Well done to the owner.

"Excellent. Lovely cottage to stay at with everything you would need"
-
"A very comfortable, smart property in the heart of a delightful village with a real sense of community."
Great local pub, shop and church. Excellent place to stay close to the Lake District.
-
"Fab cottage with plenty of room for all four of us, spotlessly clean yet homely."
Perfect location for exploring the North Lakes in a lovely quiet village, we will definitely return.
-
"A lovely spotless, well equipped and comfy cottage, ideally situated in the village of Greystoke for visiting The Lakes and surrounding areas."
-
"Excellent accommodation."
Clean, well maintained and great facilities. As walkers/cyclists we especially appreciated the large utility room on the entrance to the cottage for sorting out all our wet & dirty gear. Great location with easy access to the Lakes, Penrith and Keswick and close to a brilliant pub (for food, beer and atmosphere). Thanks.

"Cannot find anything negative to say the crook is a wonderful maintained ..."
Cannot find anything negative to say the crook is a wonderful maintained property decorated to the highest quality we love the village of Greystoke as we use to stay in another cottage there but the crook has blown as away and we will certainly be back… if you will have us

"Having been to the Lakes pretty much every year since the age of 9, I know the area well and have been to Greystoke before."
The Crook is situated in the centre of the village. Whilst there is no parking directly outside of the property, you can park around 20 yards away in the street. As the street in which The Crook is situated is a T-junction, it is quiet. The property itself is perfect for one or two couples. It is cosy, with a large bedroom and walk in shower/bathroom downstairs and a smaller bedroom and ensuite upstairs, along with the kitchen/diner and front room. The property is tastefully decorated and the beds comfortable. There is everything that you could possibly need and Penrith is only a 5 to 10 minute drive away. There you will find restaurants, pubs and supermarkets including Booths, M & S, Morrisons & Sainsburys. It is only a 20 minute drive to Keswick and the villages of Dacre, Pooley Bridge and Askham are only a short drive away. I would recommend eating at any of the pubs/restaurants in Askham, including Michelin starred Alium at Askham Hall, which is out of this world. A few yards away is the local, the Boot and Shoe. This is possibly the friendliest pub I have visited (along with The Old Crown at Hesket Newmarket) in the Lakes. The landlord and landlady are lovely and the food is excellent. The owners of the Crook are friendly and helpful as well. Could not recommend this place more and whilst many flock to Keswick, Ambleside and the like, Greystoke with it's friendly community and village pub is a hidden gem.

"This was our second stay at The Crook and it was as fabulous as our first stay."
The property was absolutely immaculate and had everything we needed. The property owners were extremely welcoming as were the locals. Located in a sleepy little village it was really quiet and peaceful, with lovely evening walks, a park to play in and an amazing local pub. Highly recommend!!
-
"The property was great - my only 'gripe' is that we did contact you a couple of weeks before to ask if an extra day could be added - you came back to me and said we would need to wait as the owners may be able to let the property for the week - I said I was happy to forgo the extra day if they did manage another booking, even at the last moment."
However when I spoke to the owners they said they had not been approached with this request - we ended up having to do a B&B for the extra night. Other than that the accommodation was fabulous. A hairdryer would have been nice but I managed ! I guess you won't want to publish all of this but am happy to say the accommodation was great

"Beautiful cottage, finished to a high standard."
Incredibly clean, warm and welcoming. Had everything you needed and more. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there. Fabulous location for exploring the Lakes. Greystoke is a lovely village with a good local pub and an open air swimming pool run by the local community. A real gem.

"Beautiful cottage, home from home, we could have stayed much longer!"
We will definitely stay again.
-
"We had a wonderful stay at The Crook - the house itself was everything we needed and very comfortable, with a lovely courtyard to sit out in."
It was a great base from which to explore, with the Lakes, Penrith and Keswick so easily accessible, but there are also lovely walks, a nice little pub and a shop right on your doorstep. We have a young son, so we also made very good use of the playground and swimming pool (in the summer) just a minute down the lane. Carolyn and Andy were great hosts and really helpful and adaptable to what we needed. We would happily stay again.

"A lovely cottage in a beautiful village."
The property was well equipped and modern. The hosts Carolyn and Nic were friendly and very helpful. Would definitely re book.
-
"We loved the cottage & what a lovely village people ware very friendly."
-
"Regular email communication from Sykes kept me up to date about my holiday booking and whilst on holiday about the procedure when vacating the property."
Holiday cottage was amazing, so comfortable and well equipped, and above all else outstandingly clean which was reassuring given the pandemic we continue to live through. 10 out of 10; would recommend Sykes and The Crook.
-
"Really well equipped and comfortable house a great base to explore the Lakes but in a quiet village away from the crowds and with a lovely pub 2 minutes walk away."
Perfect holiday thank you
-
"We had a superb stay at the Crook in Greystoke."
Lovely village with a great pub and an outdoor swimming pool, quiet but well located for exploring the Northern Lake District. The cottage was spot on - everything we needed, clean and comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend.

It's in a lovely location with easy traveling to many parts of the Lake District..

"This is a really excellent property, set in a lovely village."
It is convenient for the Lake District in general but more particularly the Northern Lakes - a delightful place. We would recommend this property, the owners have achieved an excellent balance of comfort and style. Well done.
-
"Beautiful location , cottage had everything needed, beautifully decorated, Lovely pub near"
-
"Brilliant location - peaceful, away from crowds but very close to northern Lakes and useful for supermarkets etc in Penrith."
Not too far off M6 either. Lovely living room on 1st floor has view over countryside. Main bedroom has very comfortable bed plus brand new en-suite with underfloor heating. Spotless too. Kitchen a bit basic but OK. Nicely furnished and fitted out throughout. All in all excellent.
-
"What a fantastic cottage well placed to explore Northern Lakes and fells"
-
"We enjoyed a fantastic week in this beautifully furnished and equipped cottage in the lovely village of Greystoke."
Everything appeared to be brand new, the beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for a relaxing bath after a long walk. The outdoor space, a cobbled yard with table and chairs, was perfect for a bbq and caught the sun all day. Add a pub serving good meals a minute’s walk away and a shop selling all the essentials literally across the road, and you have the recipe for a perfect holiday!
