"Very much home from home, everything we needed, the views from the bedroom windows were amazing, we will definitely be returning."
Only one small thing, the bath is very very slippery when bathing or showering especially for an older generation otherwise fine

"Absolutely loved the property, one of the best we have stayed in!"
What a beautiful house in a stunning setting. It was warm, spotlessly clean with very comfy beds and sofas. Very well equipped with a kitchen that was easy to use. Loved the tea, coffee, bread and milk left upon our arrival. Molly the dog loved the treats. The side door into the conservatory was very handy with a muddy dog after our walks, great for storing muddy boots and wet clothing. The garden was even Spaniel proof! The views are Skiddaw from the livingroom window where mesmerising. It was very peaceful. We were very sad to leave and will definitely be booking again.

"Another great week’s stay at Windrush."
It has everything we could ask for, perfect for our dog with the enclosed garden and field right opposite and an ideal location to walk into Keswick (15minutes) and explore the Lakes.

"We thought the house had just about everything necessary for a successful break but the main bedroom had a distinct smell which I would describe as a sweaty smell."
We think we traced it to the sheets which although clean maybe not aired enough. We moved to the two singles bedroom which was fine. The main bedroom lacked good ventilation with only a small section tilt window providing ventlation. Seems ventilation came second to a superb view through the picture window. The freezer is in the garage which was minor inconvenience until it rained. The location is superb and a convenient footpath opposite the house leads to Keswick, anout 20 minutes.

"The house is lovely - comfortable and spacious and in a great location."
One major negative was that we tried to contact Tracey, the property manager, on several occasions to fix a couple of issues but didn't receive any response at all. The house also lacks an intro/welcome guide with basic information about the area and property.
Thank you for your feedback, we are pleased to hear you found Windrush a wonderful place to stay. We are sorry you were unable to reach the Property Manager, this has been passed to the owner who will discuss this directly with them. We do hope you will return to make more fantastic memories. "Lovely property in great location."
One of our most enjoyable holidays.
-
"This is the 4th time we have stayed at this property and have already booked to go back again."
It is a real home from home in a perfect location to relax and explore the lakes. The property is well kept and has everything you need, with a stunning view from the lounge. Its in a lovely village just a short walk from Keswick, but with easy access to the main roads. A lovely garden which is enclosed so safe for any 4 legged friend you may be taking.
-
"Excellent property to spend a holiday."
Clean; very well equipped kitchen; delightful garden; outstanding views from front windows. Will hopefully be returning soon.
-
"Fantastic views from the property over Skiddaw and Dodd, great location for just leaving the car on the driveway and walking everywhere."
The property is spacious, well maintained and well equipped for a relaxing holiday. Great garden space at the rear on various levels including a summerhouse. We had wonderful weather which only added to making a great holiday. We would recommend Windrush and hope to return again soon. Only disappointment was the sun parasol was broken and in an afternoon not much shade in the rear garden so would have been nice to have had this but this is just nit-picking as everything else was fine

"Slight mix up at start with beds made as twin not double but we easily contacted housekeeper and all sorted out quickly."
-
"We will definitely be staying here again!"
View is incredible and house is amazing. Was a little disappointed with cleanliness- had to buy slippers as floor was dirty. Our socks were discoloured at first and hoover smells really bad. But this was minor - kitchen was really clean and fully stocked of everything you might need. Owners left us teabags, coffee and milk which was lovely - no biscuits and bread though which was a shame as they had said they had left some on welcome sheet. Have already recommended this property- really couldn’t beat it I don’t think and although comments are a tad negative it is only for improvement suggestions only. We cannot wait to book here again. Neighbours were also very lovely too. Thank you, we are certainly refreshed and relaxed - very sorry to leave.

"The location and the views from the property were as amazing as we'd hoped."
Overall the property was comfortable and well equipped with good off-road parking and walks from the door. We did notice a rather off-putting smell in the kitchen, particularly when the door had been closed. We couldn't work out where it was coming from so resorted to leaving the kitchen window open when we were in and closing the internal door. The conservatory doesn't have any ventilation (window locked and no key), there is an area of damp and the cushions on the furniture were going mouldy. The towels also smelled like they had been put away damp, but they were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The left hand side of the toaster was broken and some areas of the house needed more of a deep clean, eg, the blind in the shower room is quite grubby and the toilet brush in the loo is rusting around the top. The information folder referred to instructions for the bins being located in the kitchen which we couldn't find. Overall we did enjoy our stay and would probably return due to the excellent location.

"This was our 2nd time staying at Windrush and it certainly didn't disappoint."
We will be booking again for 2024 once we know dates. The property feels like our home and we are comfortable while staying there. The property is well maintained and a pure delight to rest and enjoy. The only matter which needs to be looked at is lighting for outside. This is a real health and safety issues especially in winter when there is snow and ice.
-
"Lovely property with an incredible view."
My only criticism would be the shower (and I'm being picky!). But its quite a step to get into and out of the bath and less mobile people may struggle a little. Everything else was great!
-
"A good sized, light and bright property with stunning views across to Applethwaite!"
! Plenty of comfy sofas. Bed was really comfy, we used the front bedroom rather than the master because of the fabulous views. Kitchen was well equipped but needs a new cheese grater. The garden is smaller than I expected but the dogs didn't mind, however, its on 2 levels (noted in description) a bit steep but has a lovely summer house at the top. For those with furry friends, the garden was very secure. A schedule for bin collection would be extremely useful as we missed the collection and the bin was full when we arrived.

"We had an absolutely wonderful week at Windrush, a real home from home but with the most amazing views from your front window and a perfect field for our dog to run around in just seconds from the front door."
We had everything we needed inside the property, it was clean, comfortable, spacious and very well maintained. An ideal location with Keswick being a 15 minute walk away. We were sorry we had to leave and wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
-
"Lovely house and perfect location however it does need freshening up with a kick of paint as some of the walls and doors are starting to look a little grubby."
Also the garage door needs replacing as it’s bowed at the top so leaves a gap.
-
"Lovely house in a great setting, views from the lounge and bedroom stunning, loved the garden."
Lots of space for us two and the two dogs. Great position to walk into Keswick, great cafe in Portinscale would definitely recommend and the pub also very friendly. Would definitely return. Beautiful weather the whole two weeks
-
"My parents, sister, Pie (the dog) and I enjoyed our second stay at Windrush."
We were lucky with the weather, enjoyed plenty of walks and good food. Great location with wonderful views.
-
"Excellent location with stunning views and ample space for six adults and a dog."
Uninterrupted views of fells. Lovely and clean and comfy beds. Portinscale has pub with good food beer and dog friendly. Lots of walks from house, 20min walk into heart of Keswick. Thankyou for lovely break, will be back.
-
"Great place."
... spectacular views over mountains. Will definitely return. Keswick 15 min walk. Local pub 2 min walk away.
-
"Well maintained property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable."
The conservatory an added bonus with storage space in the garage as listed. Couldn’t ask for more, a real home from home. Amazing views from the lounge and front bedroom , quiet location but only a short walk into Keswick. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.
-
"Wonderful views and location."
The property was very clean and had all of the facilities we could have wished for. Very comfortable and cozy. Can't recommend highly enough. Many thanks!
-
"We had a really lovely holiday at the cottage."
The location was brilliant, just a short walk from Keswick and from lots of really lovely walks. The view from the living room window is stunning. I would highly recommend
-
"Nice comfortable well presented rental."
Views were fantastic Could do with grab rails in the bathroom.
-
"Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home."
We all really enjoyed our stay at Windrush - a very warm and comfortable house well equipped with everything we needed. It is in a quiet location with amazing panoramic views across the valley towards Skiddaw. Staying at Portinscale was ideal for exploring the Northern Lakes and having a very good local pub and cafe was a bonus. Easy walk into Keswick and not too far to walk to the Lake Derwentwater. We just love this area. Thank you for the milk, bread and biscuits - they were very much appreciated. Just a note - the outside lights were not working and as the darker nights are here, they may be needed. Everything else was great and we would definitely like to return.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Windrush and would definitely return."
..really comfortable, clean, and what a view! Portinscale is a perfect place to enjoy the northern lakes and stunning walks. Would highly recommend The Pheasant in Keswick. ..the steak pie was excellent and great service, as was the Farmers Arms in the village. Breakfast at The Chalet was superb...sitting in the sunshine was a great start to a walking day. (One small thing...could have done with simple instructions on how to turn on the oven...just hand written in your blue folder, but please don't be offended everything else was spot on). Thank you..and for the welcome items. Perfect.
-
"So quiet and lovely views Very well equipped and very comfy beds Towels etc all provided Milk and bread left on arrival nice touch Will be back!"
-
"Very comfortable accommodation which is nicely furnished and decorated."
It has all essential facilities available . The garden is also beautifully maintained.
-
"This was a lovely house, with lovely views."
We certainly plan to stay at this house again!
-
"Great holiday accommodation."
The views from Windrush are amazing and we spent every morning and early evening just watching the sun and clouds on Skiddaw. It's a really comfortable place with everything we needed. We also appreciated how dog friendly it was. The location is really good in terms of being able to walk from the house, get into Keswick really easily (walking or in the car) and getting to all the wonderful things the Lake District has to offer.
-
"Really enjoyed our stay here."
Great location and access into Keswick or surrounding walks. Fabulous views from the property and everything we needed there. Would definitely recommend Description was accurate
-
"Excellent - home from home and great location"
-
"We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years and this is one of the best."
Very comfortable and warm and everything we needed for the week. It’s the extra touches that make a difference such as a packet of biscuits and some dishwasher tablets. We will definitely stay there again if possible. Thank you very much for your kind hospitality.

"We've just returned from a very enjoyable 7 night stay at Windrush, there was 6 ..."
We've just returned from a very enjoyable 7 night stay at Windrush, there was 6 of us in total, there was plenty of room, everyone enjoyed their week, they had catered for everything inc a little welcome pack which was very much appreciated, and least but not last the views from the house are amazing, I enjoyed sitting on the bench just outside with my morning coffee, we'd definitely recommend and we would definitely go back, thankyou for a pleasureable stay
-
"A lovely cottage in a great location."
Nicely decorated and furnished. Well equipped and clean. With the most stunning view of Skiddaw. Well worth a visit and we hope to return.
-
"We would recommend this property but the recent increase in price of all properties make these all less value for money."
Also minor items such as Christmas tree in place but lights not working and front outside light not working, required In winter months as no street lighting.
-
"Lovely house, in a great location, with spectacular views."
We would definitely book again.
-
"Amazing property with great views"
-
"House was clean and in great location with wonderful views."
Open fire photographed and discussed in your description of property did not exist. This was very disappointing as it was a cold wet week in October and we were looking forward to cosy nights round the fire.
Thank you for your feedback and glad to hear you had a great week at Windrush. Unfortunately the fire photographed was deemed unusable due to the Chimney Flue before we went LIVE with bookings. The owners have since put in place an electric wood burner to try and gain the cosy atmosphere a fire would bring. Property Owner

"Fabulous views from the front windows."
Such a same that the towels/ bedding had been washed in some scented products, not great for people who react to artificial perfumes. The sunroom was very handy to come into after a walk, though we were lucky that we had no rain, so did not get the full benefit.
-
"Fantastic house in perfect position."
Quiet cul de sac with superb views but only a short walk away from Derwentwater and a stroll from Keswick. Loved it !
-
"The Cottage is an ideal location for visiting the Lakes, just a 5 minute walk from Derwent Water and the village pub and an easy 20 minute walk to Keswick."
If you are taking a fluffy 4 legged friend it is ideal as there is a field alongside the river directly opposite the house if needed. The house itself was ideal, very comfortable and clean with wifi, and facilities for sitting in the garden. We would definitely stay here again.
-
"We would love to visit this cottage again but can not see how you can justify put the price up from the £725 paid this year to over £1200 for the same time next year."
