  • "This is a brilliant holiday home with everything needed for a relaxing break."

We have stayed many times and it never disappoints. Close to Keswick with constantly changing views over the fells. The welcome pack of goodies is always well-received. Thank you again for a great stay.

  • "A comfortable and spacious ground-floor apartment in an elevated location with great views."

It seemed well equipped for our needs and we had no problem with its cleanliness. We appreciated the welcome pack – thank you. The sunroom gets nicely warm and we found it handy for airing or drying clothes. The gated courtyard is shared with the two flats above and has ample space for parking. There is also a large garage. The pub in Portinscale is about a 10 minute walk away and I reached the centre of Keswick (Moot Hall), walking briskly, in 25 minutes. We had a very good stay. I didn’t use the car for a week, but walked or cycled around the area (Newlands, Buttermere, Borrowdale etc.) A couple of minor negatives: when the flat above was occupied we heard a fair bit of noise transmitted through the floor. Also, when we needed to use the heating for a couple of days (in June!) the apartment began to smell of heating oil. I think this is because the oil-fired boiler is in the kitchen. I reported this. The problem went away when the weather warmed up and so the heating was off.

Thank you for your kind feedback. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. As for the two minor negatives that you mentioned, we're happy to say that we are having the boiler replaced altogether on 23rd July, and at the same time we are having work done on the floor above our apartment, to tackle the reverberations which can sometimes be felt when visitors upstairs jump around. We hope you will visit again and enjoy your stay with us all the more! Best wishes, Guy and Pippa. Property Owner

  • "Every comfort you could want after a long day out on the fells."

The house was warm, spacious and clean with magnificent views and plenty of nearby activities to choose from. Enjoyed a (somewhat dicey) ridge-walk up Blencathra, snow on the summit of Skiddaw and stunning views while on The Coldale Round. Didn't want the stay here to end, but glad to have found this gem for the future. Thanks and see you again next year.

  • "We have stayed here twice before, arriving for the third time it was noted immediately that the cleanliness had reduced dramatically, I cleaned the cobwebs from the lounge light fitting (lots of them) and also from the walls in lounge and bedroom."

The cooker hob was very dirty and the kitchen floor sticky so we cleaned this also. The glass coffee table in the lounge was also awful. We were surprised as previously the cleaning standard was exceptional. This is just some constructive feedback, not a criticism by any means.

Dear Graham, thank you for three stays with us and, indeed, your booking for next year. We are very sorry that the cleaning let us down this time around. As you kindly say, the standard of cleaning is generally exceptional. We try very hard to make it so, but of course lapses can occur. We have discussed this with our professional managers and have arranged to change the cleaning team to provide greater experience and allow more cleaning time, given the size of the property. We trust this will bring One The Howe back to its sparkling best. Guy and Pippa Heath Property Owner

  • "Spacious and warm rooms with great views of valleys and fells."

Many parts of the flat were dirty however and this spoilt our stay.

As owners of the property it is important to us that our guests love coming to it as much as we do, and we apologise unreservedly for the poor cleaning that you experienced,. We ourselves knew nothing about this until three days after your arrival. We understand that this was due to the use of a contract cleaner, not the usual team. You certainly deserve compensation, and we should be grateful if you would contact Lakelovers again to arrange this. We are so sorry that you had this bad experience. Property Owner

Thanks to the host for allowing Bayswater to deliver our oxygen equipment. Everything was perfect for access and space in the apartment for wheelchair use. Because of this we’ve had a wonderful break and now it’s a known quantity for another holiday in our favourite place. We used to go to the lakes in our courting days 63 years ago. Enjoyed showing our friends around and the day out going over wrynose and hardknot passes then langdale valley was a day they’ll never forget. Thanking you for letting us enjoy such a beautiful place.

Thank you so much for your feedback. We are really glad that you enjoyed your stay and everything that the property and area had to offer. Lakelovers Owner Relations Expert Property Owner

It was our second stay there and it was as delightful as before. The interior is clean, comfortable and well furnished. My only small moan would be the state of the windows which needed a good clean inside and out. However, it's a great place to stay and I would highly recommend it and definitely stay there again myself.

  • "It would have been nice to have a patio table and chairs as we could have eat outside on a couple of occasions."

There also needs to be more than one set of keys - we were 2 couples and did not always do the same thing and found driving out and then having to go back into the house to lock up and put the keys in the key box every time a bit inconvenient. It would have been useful to have had the bin collection times so we could have put them out - the recycle plastic etc was so full we could not get ours in.

Hello Janet -We are sorry about the patio table and chairs, , which are in the garage allocated to you ,and should have been put out for your use. The sudden warm weather took us by surprise! Re the bins, unfortunately the Cumberland Council waste collection folks have been on strike and therefore collections have been delayed. We understand there should be a comprehensive collection this week. Best wishes. Guy and Pippa Property Owner

The apartment was comfortable, quiet, spacious and very well equipped. We knew it was a distance from Keswick, which we were happy with although walking across the busy main road wouldn’t be everyone’s choice. Our daughter loved the sun room and felt right at home in the swinging chair! Overall it was a great place and one we’d be happy to return to. A big thank you also to Kim from the management team, who helped keep the journey up from Oxford stress free despite the huge delays we experienced :-)
