• "This is one of the best properties we have stayed in , in Keswick."

  We recently holidayed for 1 week and could not have wished for a better house for location, cleanliness, the facilities and the little extras , including for our fur babies. Towels and toilet rolls were plentiful which was great as normally you would get the bare minimum. Would highly recommend a stay in Dovedale. We also met the owner Les who was a lovely man & nothing seemed to much trouble. Great stay had by all

• "Dovedale is one of the nicest houses we have ever stayed in."

  It had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. The beds were so nice and comfortable. The owners left some very thoughtful welcome gifts, milk, water, wine, some toiletries which were all much appreciated. Will definitely go there again.

• "I can’t fault anything about Dovedale."

  We loved staying there from the minute we walked in. A lovely big house but still felt cosy. The super king sized beds were lovely. All the extra touches made it more special. Can’t wait to stay here again.

• "We have stayed in numerous holiday houses and this is by far the best."

  The level of cleanliness and comfort was 5* and we loved staying here. Les was extremely helpful and kindly bought a non slip mat for the dining room floor as our greyhound found it slippy. I think we have now been spoilt for future properties and we will certainly return to Dovedale. The photos don’t do it justice and it felt more like a self catering luxury hotel than a house. The location is perfect and in very quiet. Can’t wait to return!

• "The positives: lovely house, central location and plenty of room."

  The negative: excessive lust of how the owners want the place cleaning before you leave! I have rented all over the world but never been expected to strip all the beds before I leave, clean the bathrooms etc. when you pay hundreds of £’s for a short stay I would expect a cleaner to do after I have gone.

  We are pleased you liked the house and hopefully had a good time. However, we as hosts would never ask guests to strip the beds and certainly not clean anything like bathrooms. We do all of our own cleaning and that would not make sense for the guest to do it and then us do it again. All we ever ask is that guests clean up after their pets. We have since found out that Sykes/Lakelovers send out an email to the guests asking them to strip the beds where possible and leave the place as found. This has not come from us as Hosts, should you wish to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We do not want even 1 unhappy guest. Property Owner

• "We throughly enjoyed our holiday in the Lake District."

  We stayed in Dovedale a beautiful three story property in Keswick which was just a few minutes walk into the centre. Dovedale had everything it was beautifully furnished with every amenity from the lounge with wood burning stove, large TV and leather sofas. Walk through to the dining room with large dining table. The kitchen was a step down and beautifully appointed it looked brand new. Upstairs the bedrooms again had the high standard of furnishings and decor, all with wall mounted TV. Dovedale also had a Media Room on the top floor. There was everything for every generation I would highly recommend Dovedale.

• "WOW, what an absolutely stunning holiday home Dovedale is."

  The house was extremely clean, well presented and finished to the highest possible standard. The owners have thought of everything plus more to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The welcome gifts we received on arrival were an added bonus. Dolly especially enjoyed her dog treats. The Town is only a 5-minute walk from the house. There are plenty of walks around the area which we all thoroughly enjoyed despite the showery weather. We will definitely be looking to return to Dovedale in the future.

  Spotlessly clean, extremely well appointed and had everything we could have possibly needed or wanted plus a lot more. The little extras were a lovely bonus. If staying as a group or with older children the attic tv room is a great addition. The short walk into the centre of town and all it’s amenities make this the perfect base for a holiday. Can’t recommend highly enough…..and we’ll definitely be returning. Well done to the owners…..you’ve got it spot on !!!

• "As soon as we walked in to dovedale cottage the smell was lovely and fresh."

  The cottage was spotless. There was a welcome pack milk wine cakes . Great shower and bathrooms. Plenty of towels. The TV had Netflix and amazon when not going out.Felt very comfortable straight away.only 5mins walk into town. And great walks on your door step. I left some sandals there and the owner posted them to me which was very kind.

  House was spotlessly clean, had more than enough of everything (crockery, glassware, loo rolls, towels, cleaning products, dishwasher tablets etc), plus treats for the dog! Comfy beds with snuggly duvets, log burners - all great for our stay. We have stayed in many properties and this is easily one of the best. We shall be booking this home again! Thanks to Les and Jan for making our stay a real holiday break.

• "The cottage is fabulous!"

  So stylish, modern and clean. We had a wonderful few days staying here and exploring The Lakes. The owners make it clear they are always contactable should you need them and they leave an array of little treats for the guests - even for the dogs! The only thing that we found as a negative is that I wouldn’t say this cottage is ideal for dogs as it has no enclosed garden or yard, so even early morning and late night wees have to be on a lead in the back lane after navigating many bins that are stored there - seeing as we had fabulous weather this was ok, but not ideal on rainy days. But, overall, we were so comfortable and happy to be staying here.

• "We were very pleased with the property, very clean and very well appointed."

  As a side note; a bigger rack for boots and somewhere more substantial to hang wet outdoor clothing would have been very useful - a standard bath with a rail over would have been a better option than the roll top bath. In terms of items provided an indoor broom would have been handy for tiled floors. With this said we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and did appreciate the quality of this property.
