  • "The cottage was in a good location."

The kitchen equipment we found was very basic/limited. The cooker was very dirty. The bed and mattress was not very comfortable and bedding very poor quality. The check out time of 9 o clock was very inconvenient and earlier than other properties we have stayed in to the point that we decided it was more practical to leave the day before.

  • "A very comfortable stay."

Clean and well layed out property. Comfortable beds and good shower. Garden spacious, ideal for a bbq on a sunny day. It took a few attempts to identify the turn off to take the car around to the rear of the property. Maybe a simple diagram included with arrival info would help. Not to distract from the fact that Driftwood Cottage is the ideal place to stay on the very edge of Keswick.

  • "Lovely cottage and very homely and comfortable and our stay was top class."

Just one small comment regarding cooking (although we did not cook) there was no condiments or anything in the cupboards (as in salt pepper oil sugar tea bags coffee) . These could be provided at very little expense and would last months and enhance the feeling of being more homely and equipped.

Thank you for taking the time to review Driftwood following your stay, we are delighted to hear that you felt at home and comfortable in the cottage we would love to welcome you again in the future. We do not supply condiments as they would need replaced in full weekly as opened produce cannot be left for different guests to use due to food hygiene risks. We hope this did not detract from you enjoyment and hope you welcome you again in the future. Kind Regards The Property owner. Property Owner

  • "After staying in various cottages in Keswick we found this Cottage to be dated and in need of an upgrade in particular the kitchen which does not cater for family dining at all."

Sofas in living room need replacing Mattresses on both beds need replacing, a dressing table needs to be added to the 2nd bedroom and privacy blinds in both bedrooms. Hot water was not hot even though the boiler was turned up to max. Also front gate goes straight onto a busy main road- one to bear in mind if you have children

Due to your feedback we have ordered 2 new mattress,s familys say how lovely family friendly the massive back garden is .i checked the water it was fine ..sorry your dissapointed Property Owner

  • "Driftwood is a very spacious and clean "homely" property."

It's location is just across the road from Fitz Park with a lovely walk along the river into Keswick Town, which takes about 15 mins. The owners are delightful, they even trimmed up the living room with Christmas decorations and left us a bottle of bubbly and Scottish shortbread!

Comfortable, convenient for Keswick, but far enough away to be quiet, and convenient for the lake area in general.

  • "Lovely cosy cottage."

Nice touch with the welcome basket especially the bottle of wine. Thank you Only suggestion I would make is for a handrail to be fitted in the shower especially for older people like me with knee problems.

  • "We were really pleased with the cottage and facilities and it was a great location."

It was a spacious property although not a lot of storage space in some of the bedrooms, however we would love to stay there again. The only downside was the late check in and early checkout.

Well equipped, great power shower. Had a lovely stay. Would have been 5 stars, however the mattresses were very bad, leading to poor sleep and back pain.

  • "Driftwood was really good."

Very clean, comfortable, warm. The location was perfect for walking into Keswick, The grandchildren loved walking through the park into town. The garden is huge, and would be perfect in the summer. Lovely mountain views from front and back. Would return. Only reason for four stars instead of 5 is the beds weren’t very comfortable. Wouldn’t stop us coming back, but better mattresses/bedding would make it perfect.

Thank you for taking the time to review Driftwood Cottage we are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable stay we will take on board you comments regarding the mattresses and bedding and make changes where necessary, we look forward to welcoming you again in the future. Property Owner

The local office rang to see if everything was ok and I made them aware of a couple of little niggles from previous occupiers. Dean, the owner came to see us next morning to see if everything was satisfactory. There is a lovely patio area at the rear of the property which we used on most evenings for al fresco dining as weather lovely with views of fells. This property is a good base for exploring Keswick and the surrounding areas. We hope to return in the future. Thank you.

Location was great and parking was a bonus although needed a name plaque by the hedge to help people find it. Listing said suitable for 4 cars but they would need to be small! Fits 2 easily. Map on site shows cottage on opposite side of road! However we had a great stay and reasonable weather helped.

  • "Overall cottage was comfortable and well looked after, the stay was mostly positive."

Everything you would need for a two week stay was provided. However with the extra time afforded to cleaning between occupants I would have expected them to at least visually check the condition of kitchen equipment, when we arrived we have to wash much of the cultelry and there was food stuck to some pans and the cheese grater from the previous occupants.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you comments and are so very sorry to hear that some of the kitchen equipment as not clean, we pride ourselves on cleanliness and excellent customer service and had this information been forthcoming during your stay we would have very happily rectified this for you, we do hope that this did not distract from your enjoyment of the cottage and that you had a wonderful holiday in the Lake District. The cottage itself was spotless on arrival, no problems at all. There are however one or two things that would make this a five star property. A bigger bed in the master bedroom, and a radio in the kitchen, plus a bedside table on the missing side of the bed. However these are just our thoughts. We would definitely stay there again, highly recommended.
