  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

The cottage is in a great location and was warm, well-equipped and clean. It was great having a designated space to park the car, especially as we didn't use the car while we were there.

  • "Finding the key holder was confusing and a challenge."

Although it says the holder is at the back door, it might help to mention that you access the rear of the property by heading to the left of cottage terraces. From first entering the cottage it was evident there was a ‘musty’ smell throughout. This stayed with us continually during the stay and was off putting. I appreciate it’s an old property but it shouldn’t necessarily smell like it did.

  • "Lovely spacious holiday cottage, conveniently, very close to Convention site, town and Derwent water."

One parking space, as stated, suitable for a small car as it is a bit tight to get into/out. It did rain quite a bit during our stay and we found it was difficult to dry things as there is nowhere to hang wet clothes. However there is a handy washer/dryer in the property. The property is stated as suitable for pets. We did not bring any but there was evidence of previous dogs being there (Dog smell and dog hairs.) So not suitable for people who have pet allergies. We enjoyed our stay here, thank you.

Water pressure poor so shower not very good and not helped by toilet cistern running almost continuously. Beds in two bedrooms comfortable but attic room not so good. Would have been helpful to have information leaflets for the area in the cottage.

  • "Generally ok, just a few suggestions: - Replace the washing / laundry machine with a dishwasher - with 4 of us staying there was a lot of washing up and it's just easier to have the dishwasher, I think it would get more use than the laundry machine."

    - The house took a while to warm up, the boiler appeared to be set way too low, according to the Nesta.org website, a combi boiler is most efficient when set to 60 degC. - I personally found the curtains in the back twin room barely shut out any light, they're almost like net curtains and it's not yet summer. I would suggest darker / blackout curtains as it's also south-facing. - In terms of cleanliness, there were a few pots & pans which needed a bit of a wash before use, possibly because they're hand-washed and people never do as good a job as a dishwasher!

  • "Fantastic house in a brilliant location."

The only negatives that we had - the master bedroom was huge and lovely but it has a double bed which made our night sleep very uncomfortable and I ended up sleeping in another room just so we had more room, why not put in a kingsize or super kingsize bed? Or 2 singles pushed together? We were glad that we didn't have full occupancy as on first 2 nights it was really windy and the roof tiles were banging. You would not have been able to sleep in the loft room. The front room was really comfy and there was plenty of kitchen equipment.

  • "Lovely property, but need to emphasise that parking is a little awkward, especially for a larger car."

Also, need to notify earlier than after booking completed that it is a 9am leaving time. This extra hour earlier than standard does make a difference when having to organise younger children. We ended up leaving the night before as easier, which meant basically we lost a whole day.

As reported on arrival there were dog hairs on the sofa nearest the dining room, the first cups and plates we picked up were not clean and there were human hairs on the bed in the front room, so we slept in the back bedroom. Not a good start when you have to hoover and wash crockery you have not used. On top of that on the last day I found ants in the sitting room and passage, they were all down the wall( I've sent photos in) If we had spotted them earlier my wife would not have stayed in the cottage. So spacious, comfortable cottage in an excellent location, good to have private parking but sadly let down on the cleanliness.

  • "We have stayed previously & we are booked for Dec also but I was really not pleased with the level of cleanliness."

I re mopped floors as they were really dirty & wiped all cupboards down and had to clean myself on our arrival, I find the level of cleanliness not good at all considering the current times. My granddaughters toy went under the sofa & I couldn’t believe the mess under there including random things like lighters etc The sofas have seen much better days & the place definitely needs a lick of paint. I never complain but when you pay a reasonable amount of money to stay somewhere you at least expect to walk into it clean. I felt disappointed as the house & location is lovely.

The cleaner takes great pride in her work and is upset to hear the issues raised. Please accept our sincere apologies. Had this information been brought to our attention during your stay we would have acted immediately to rectify the issues. We hope this did not detract from your enjoyment of your stay and look forward to welcoming you again in December Property Owner

Agree with the rest of the reviews - parking only for one car and tight and difficult to find on first arrival. A note in the cottage would be appreciated for where there is parking for a second car where a car can be left overnight. All good except I agree the shower area and tray has a lot of black mould so needs some attention. Also the towels did not smell freshly laundered but had a damp unpleasant smell to them. Comfy beds and sofas the stairs to the 3rd bedroom are very steep but our teenage daughter loved her room up there, on a windy night it was very noisy (think the roof needs looking at as something sounded loose). A brisk 5 minute walk into Keswick so very central and 15 minute walk to Derwent Water. No garden to speak of so if your wanting to sit outside with a glass of wine in the summer you would have to sit out the front on the gravel and the road is busy going into Keswick. Thank you for a lovely stay in your beautiful cottage.

Facilities are fab! Rooms comfortable. The view from the top bedroom is second to none! The cottage is much bigger than I imagined. Parking is a little tight for a larger car but doable. When it says cottage garden it means a little bit of gravel on the main road but tbh in the Lake District it is quite easy to find some outside space! The road is quite noisy from the master bedroom. I would recommend The Pheasent pub down the road and the little walk to Portinscale.

The only negative thing was the slight misrepresentation of the outside space. As it was early March we had no need to use the ‘petite cottage garden’ but had we wanted to we would have been concerned that it referred to the patch at the front and that there was no seating. I don’t think that is what people would be expecting from the description. Other than that, the cottage was cosy, clean and very close to the centre of Keswick, with no need for a car.

The bedrooms are big with comfortable beds . The loft as previously mentioned has steep stairs so our children used it as it was very big and nice. The cottage was very clean . It’s in a perfect location only 5 min on foot from Keswick centre. We had no problems with the parking . It fitted well our SUV Some trivial recommendations are : Towel hangers are needed in the bathroom and also some bigger and warmer duvets for the beds in the loft . The office very promptly responded to our call on a Saturday to send us everything we asked. I highly recommend the cottage.

I did explain that this is highly unlikely, I am a qualified health professional and we also had a doctor in the house! She said there were notices in the house saying we could not bring dogs out into the shared courtyard - however, these were not evident. We are very responsible dog owners and always clean up their poos, but this was them having a wee! We were only there for the weekend - it is a lovely cottage but this would deter me from returning. Also, as it is a shared courtyard, it might have been good to have some chairs to sit on outside in the summer months. The location is great, a short walk into town and cottage is lovely. The stairs to the attic room are very steep, but certainly manageable.

Most of the house needs to be redecorated to be honest.

Further to our telephone conversation this afternoon re recent feedback on fountain cottage in Keswick I will address the radiator being painted in the bathroom and new silicone around the bath. As to the rest of the house, it was painted just before Easter this year having had all new plasterwork done in the lounge. The downstairs was again painted on 1st November this year and when the bedrooms were checked I felt it did not require further attention this year. Property Owner

It's in a great location, walking distance from Keswick. We really enjoyed our stay here. However, there is no garden at all, at the rear there is a shared yard where bins are kept and cars parked. The parking is awkward, and the description of it could be better. You get to it from the far end of the terrace, not the drive next to the cottage, then have to go through a metal gate and it is to your left, but it isn't clear when you drive in, especially as there is a sign saying 'parking for B&B only'. Also, a sign saying which door is for the cottage would be helpful. Other than these points, it is a lovely place.
