  • "Nice well equipped large home, clean and tidy hot tub was great, nicely decorated for Christmas."

Would book again. Need to supply some instructions on how to use the electric car charger, installed the required app but couldn’t use it as a guest, would have to set it up as the owner of the charger, so didn’t bother. The few public chargers in Keswick are pretty busy at school holiday times.

With a hot tub for the ultimate in relaxation and a wonderful period feel, Greta Mill is the perfect holiday destination whatever the time of year. Just minutes from the heart of Keswick, this Georgian/Victorian property has been renovated with a real flair for combining contemporary design and period charm.

The entrance hall with its wonderful barley twist staircase leads into the open plan living and dining room with its timber floor and exposed character beams.

There's a feature brick fireplace with a large wood burning stove that's ideal for those cooler evenings and plenty of squashy sofas for relaxing.

There's also a TV and DVD, WiFi and a selection of information on the local area.

The spacious kitchen is fully equipped with a range cooker and central island unit, and there's another cosy sitting area with its own wood-burner.

Up the beautiful period staircase, you'll find four spacious and beautifully decorated bedrooms, three double and one twin, all with a TV and en-suite contemporary shower room complete with wash basin and WC.

There's also an absolutely delightful family bathroom with free standing claw foot bathtub, period style telephone shower, pedestal wash basin and WC.

Should you need extra accommodation for children, Z beds are available plus a cot and high chair. The patio garden is a real sun trap, and the ideal area for dining al fresco or enjoying your morning tea or coffee before a busy day's sightseeing in the Lakes.

You can also enjoy use of the hot tub in total privacy.

There's secure storage for your bikes, boots and other outdoor equipment and off road parking for three cars. Keswick is the ideal base for exploring the North Lakes.

Enjoy a cruise on Derwentwater or an evening at the Theatre by the Lake.

The kids will love scratching their heads over the conundrums at the Puzzling Place or competing to see who does best on the climbing walls at the King Kong climbing centre.

Everyone will love seeing the red pandas at the Lake District Wildlife Park or taking in the breathtaking views of Whinlatter Forest, the only true mountain forest in the UK.

And for a real challenge, the walks to stunning Skiddaw and Latrigg will reward the hardy with exceptional Lakeland panoramas. Venture a little further afield and enjoy the majesty of the stunning Aira Force waterfall at Ullswater, or the incredible views from the Kirkstone Pass as you head for Lake Windermere and a trip to Dove Cottage or a cruise on a Windermere steamer.

Head north to historic Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall or spend a day at the beautiful Cumbrian coast, both under an hour's drive from Keswick. There's so much to see and do in the Lake District and Greta Mill is the ideal base for a family or friends wishing to explore Britain's favourite country park, whatever the time of year.
