"Lovely, spacious house, perfect for our family group."
We thought the kitchen was very well equipped, allowing us to enjoy some excellent meal times. Our only issue was we found the king-size bed on the first floor too firm for us. There was a problem with the twin room door handle but this was fixed by the maintenance team.

"Lovely cottage, really well equipped and spotlessly clean."
We had a lovely week. Perfect for our dog too!

"Property was perfect for our stay."
Kitchen had everything we needed and more. Beds very comfortable and rooms a good size. It’s a shame one room only has a 2/3 bed as the property could be for 8. Nice to have 2 bathrooms. Open plan downstairs makes the property light throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, location perfect. We hope to book again.

"Beautiful house in ideal location for the local amenities."
Very well equipped kitchen and comfortable throughout. Plenty to keep you occupied in the house should the weather be less favourable, including the little people! Would recommend the property itself if booked privately BUT…. Such a shame that when the key snapped in the door lock shortly before 9pm on the Wednesday of our stay, the emergency contacts were uncontactable, effectively leaving a 4 year old child and the rest of the family on the streets. Despite leaving 2 voicemails on the emergency contact answerphones nobody ever got back to us and we were left to climb through a first floor insecure window to gain access to the property. It was again left to us to chase the agents the following day to arrange repair of the lock. This was in complete contrast to what felt like them harassing us following a family emergency and unavoidably having to leave our dog contained in their crate for a short period of time during daytime hours. 3 online messages/emails plus a phone call regarding the same matter is rather excessive when they can’t even respond to a real cause for concern!

"The house was lovely."
The oven (rangemaster) was really good, best oven I've ever used. Was disappointed that one of the beds was a 3/4 bed, maybe I misread the description but meant 2 of us ended up in the single beds. Only issue we found frustrating was just one key for front and back door. We didn't want to leave the gate unlatched and use back door but as there were 6 of us we did not all enter and leave together. We love Keswick and had a great week there.
Thank you for your feedback. We take all comments on board. We'd like to add that we do not give out multiple keys as we encourage guests to use the keysafe. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay at Shields."
The cottage was very clean and well-equipped, in a great, central location. Unfortunately, our stay has been tarnished by the poor service provided after our holiday. In our rush to leave the property at the early checkout time (9am), with our two elderly relatives, two children and dog, and having followed the required "COVID" guidelines to strip the beds and bag up the used towels etc, we mistakenly left a number of high value items in one of the bathrooms. As soon as we realized, we tried to contact Sykes, but were unable to speak to anyone. Instead, we were directed to the online portal where we logged the left items. It is now approaching three weeks since we checked out of the accommodation, and despite several messages via the portal, Sykes is unable to let to us whether the items have been located. After spend a significant amount of money on the accommodation, I am extremely disappointed with the level of service that has been provided by Sykes.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the issue that you experienced during your stay. We will pass on your comments to the relevant teams. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Really great property, clean and spacious, loved the amount of cutlery and plates/dishes etc."
We had elderly people in our party and what would be really helpful would be a short handrail on the right of the few stairs that lead into the bathroom. they didn't feel secure going up and down the steps. Thanks.

"We had a lovely stay at shields but we feel we have to mention the bathroom and bedroom on the 1st floor are not on the same level ie."
2 steps down and 4 up a bit of a concern with elderly parents during the night. We also felt the 4pm check in is too late and 9 am check out time is early as generally the times are normally 3pm / 10am. The stripping of the all the beds before we leave also eats into these times. I feel we need to move on now from the Covid 19 reminders in every bedroom. Having said all that I would recommend Shields and would like to come back and visit in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We will raise the points you have made with the owner and see what can be changed. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

"Excellent property with everything you need, nice courtyard."
The only issue was the check out time of 09.00 am too early when you have 4 small children 10.00 would have been better

"Top bedrooms very cold as heating struggles to warm rooms."
Consider additional heaters and blanket for bed. The rest of property is really nice and works well for 4 adults. Property is nice and clean, we stayed here last year. Kitchen is very well provided for with great cooker.
Hello, I am sorry the top floor bedrooms were not well heated, I appreciate it does take some time for the radiators to become warm. We will provide blankets for the top floor rooms, thanks for the feedback. PM Property Owner

"Our second time at Shields."
It’s lovely. Has everything you need for a lovely holiday. Would love to go again next year but it’s 400.00 more expensive than this year which is an increase of over 20% so far too much I am afraid which is a shame. The only snag was I asked for a change of bedding as we had a cross over with one of our sons but was told it was an extra charge which again I felt was a bit too much We will be back in an off peak month though as it’s one of the best houses we have stayed in
-
"Beautiful home."
Only negative is being asked to strip beds when on holiday.

"It was superb tbf."
Great property for the six ( adults) & the pup . Great location , with superb facilities . We'd deffinitely go back . Overall a solid 8.5 /10 in my view. Sykes were spot on as well ( 1st time we've used them & we'd wholeheartedly recommend them )

"We have had a great stay."
The property is spacious, well resourced and presented. Its close to both the town centre and the local park which was handy to access the local amenities. Highly recommend

"We loved our stay at Sheilds- everything was just perfect."
The house was impeccably clean and comfortably updated. We were a party of 6 (5 adults and 1 teen) and the house provided plenty of comfortable gathering space, as well as enough room for everyone to have some privacy. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was spacious and had everything needed for cooking; we could have moved right in. The location was great for everything we wanted to do and it was quiet at night. Parking was fine, we were always able to find a spot nearby (though I imagine it is more difficult in summer). Upon arrival, we were told by the cleaning crew that Sheilds is one of the best-kept houses in Keswick, and we all agree! Thanks for a wonderful stay!!

"Great house."
Very clean. Will be back hopefully soon.

"A welcoming comfortable holiday home with everything you would require for a great stay."
Every possible kitchen utensil and good quality pans with a large range cooker and multiple ovens. Rooms are all large, bright and airy with great showers in the bathrooms too. There is also a cute small courtyard back garden. Spotlessly clean when we arrived. First time I have booked with Sykes and I was impressed with the high quality finish at Shields and the cleanliness of the cottage compared with others previously booked with other companies. A great stay in Keswick and a wonderful holiday in the Lake District!

"Lovely townhouse that met all our expectations and more."
Great location to walk into Keswick, but set within a quiet street. The property had every amenity we needed with the bonus of good internet speed. Will definitely be back!

"Perfect Holiday House"

"Lovely large cottage , well appointed , very clean and comfortable."
Looked like it had been recently renovated . Thank you for the treats on arrival. Well located and parking for 3 cars without any difficulty ( at this time of year) would book again

"Stayed at Shields for the week."
Parking was difficult outside on the Friday as a lot of people use the free parking in the roads outside. I imagine in holiday weeks its not that easy. The house however is great! A second set of keys would have been nice rather than keep putting them in lock box. Both front door locks are not great and need changing to make getting into the house a bit easier. There were only 4 of us staying in the property so facilities were really good for us . Kitchen well stocked with pans etc . Cooker looked brand new and so was everything else. Bathrooms immaculate and property very clean and commutable. We would definitely book this property again. thank you

"Loved our stay at Shields, this is a fabulous property only a 5 minute walk to the centre of Keswick."
The house itself was spotlessly clean with everything provided for a comfortable stay. Although there were 6 of us plus a dog, we all had more than enough room to relax and have our own space. I can't recommend highly enough - 5 stars!
-
"One of the top holiday homes we have ever stayed in!"
Good location, very well equipped, beautifully furnished and very clean. Oh and the weather was great too!
-
"A lovely property with a modern feel to it, with thought and quality in mind."
Not a bad word to be said - we had a fabulous week, well supported by Shields.

"A very well equipped house in an ideal location."
A good range of books,games and DVD.s

"Lovely house in great position for Fitz Park for the dog and town."
Lovely little courtyard out back and sun trap bench out front. Very clean and all the utensils you’ll need in the kitchen. Shower on top floor does vary from scalding to cold so be careful. Thanks, great stay.
-
"Really lovely house with comfortable beds and a very well equipped kitchen."
The drying room was great. Probably the best house we have stayed in within Keswick. It would be good if there was a proper ironing board and a clock downstairs would have been beneficial but this would not stop us from booking again.
-
"It was lovely."
Parking was not easy but not much of an issue. Dropping stuff off was the biggest problem as you can’t really get outside during busy times. Walking into Keswick was a big plus ! Getting out at 9 am is also tough when you have two babies under 1 ! Will book again

"A lovely large house."
Modern kitchen with utility for muddy boots and wet coats. Log burner for cosy evenings. Fibre installed so good WiFi. Good location- shops and pubs 5 minute walk.
-
"The property was spotlessly clean and had all the facilities needed for our stay."
It is in a great location just a short stroll into Keswick and all of its offerings. Parking is a bit of an issue especially on arrival when you have to unload the car. If I had one criticism it would be that there is no wi-fi and this would of been helpful especially as there was poor phone signal in the house. However a great place which I would have no hesitation booking again.
Thank you for your recent comments, we are glad you had a lovely stay at Shields. We have recently had Wi-Fi installed. We look forward to welcoming you back to Shields in the future. Property Owner

"A great 5 days stay at Sheilds."
Possibly the cleanest holiday rental we have ever stayed in so full marks to the team. Extremely well equipped kitchen, most of the appliances appeared to be brand new. Beds comfortable and spacious bedrooms ( a mirror would be handy in the top floor king room). Lots of living/dining space for families. The younger members of the party appreciated the books, dvds and craft drawer which was doubly important as the only tv channels available were not of interest to them or the adults. We understood beforehand that there was no terrestrial tv but had been hoping to be able to stream. Information in the house suggests that wi-fi is coming, in order for us to book again this would be imperative as mobile phone signal can also be tricky in the area and there can occasionally be a need to keep in touch with family/work. Location is good for Keswick town centre (5 mins walk). Street parking was not a problem.
