The site is very peaceful even though you are very close to A66 but cannot hear traffic. We cannot wait to return.

Thank you for your kind words, they are much appreciated. We do do our best to make Tutheren homely, well equipped and comfortable - we love it, have done so for more than a dozen years! Property Owner

  • "The cabin was very clean and comfortable, it has a good size decking area for sitting out side and had all the cooking equipment we needed."

The site is clean and well kept, and a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of Keswick. It is quite close to the busy A66 road, but the traffic noise didn’t bother us much. This was our second visit to the site and will definitely be returning. A point worth mentioning is make sure you don’t leave anything behind when you leave. We left a small object , we contacted Sykes holiday cottages who we booked the lodge through, and they wanted £30 just to contact the owner.

Very many thanks for your kind feedback and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay at Tutheren and that you would consider returning. I am so sorry that you had issues getting something that you left behind returned. This is a tricky one because the Letting Agents arrange for a cleaner to come in some time during a six hour window on Saturday and I am not quite sure how anything left behind could be got back to you. What I will do is speak to the Letting Agents (who are usually very helpful) and I will leave my contact details available in the Lodge although even that may not be of much help since I live in London. I have to admit that over the years, when staying in Hotels, I have from time to time (often) left things behind. I now have a policy of my wife and I independently doing a "sweep" of the room before leaving - surprising how often toothbrushes, socks, handkerchiefs get found. Property Owner

  • "A very comfortable lodge with all you could need."

The owner has clearly put a lot of effort into ensuring you have a good time. There are some areas of the lodge that are starting to need some attention - like the steps leading up to the lodge where the non slip coating is getting worn - but where items have been replaced they are replaced with high quality appliances. It was lovely and clean - although I did clean the windows looking out on the decking as there were several bird deposits but that’s just my preference. The beds and sofas were lovely and comfortable. Overall a lovely stay within very easy reach of Keswick.

Many thanks for the feedback about "the steps leading up to the lodge where the non slip coating is getting worn" - I have ordered four non-slip coverings for the steps and I will fit them as soon as I can. I do appreciate all feedback but particularly any suggesting things that I can change; living in London now I don't get up to Keswick anywhere as often as I used to. Thanks again for your kind words and help. Property Owner

good media options. nice decking and good views. Close to Keswick which was a short stroll. head through the park. My only issue would be the vicinity to a major road junction meaning traffic load outside and could be heard inside without Tv/radio.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to hear that you had an enjoyable stay. We take your comments on board. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Thanks for your kind words, I do try my best to ensure that Gursts have an exceptional stay. Sadly, traffic noise is one thing that I can't eliminate - living on a Rat Run in London I have become pretty much immune to it. The Owner. Property Owner

  • "This is a lovely lodge - cosy, comfortable and excellent access to some of the best walks in the Lake District."

However, there was no mention of the constant noise of traffic from the very busy A66. I should have looked at a map and worked it out. Also, no loo roll provided - unusual for a holiday cottage - so I had to go out in search on a bank holiday which was a bit inconvenient. I wouldn’t be able to recommend this cottage because of the traffic noise.

We enjoyed feeding the birds and watching so many species from the lodge that we renamed it a self-catering bird hide! It's a well equipped, comfortable lodge in a more traditional style and we quickly got the hang of the new tv and heaters (which we only needed for about an hour once!). The beds are particularly comfortable. We like it's position - a fairly easy walk into the middle of Keswick and just a short walk to the excellent Pheasant pub for really good meals. Although near the A66, we found the traffic noise to be unobtrusive. We will return

Difficult to have to set all the timers on the electrical appliances before using as all electricity was turned off and lodge only 15 degrees on arrival. A simple guide would be better than the original booklets that came with cooker, microwave, heaters etc. Settees not the most supportive to sit on. Beds very comfortable but pillows too thick. Would have liked an Option of thinner pillows, had to use the ones of settee to sleep on. Guide for water heater needs updating on folder. The washer dryer was a bonus as the write up only said there was a washer. Otherwise a great location and setting. Easy to walk to Keswick town centre.

The situation was splendid, being secluded and quiet but only a short distance from town - if I were younger and fitter I would have walked it! We did enjoy watching the birds from the lovely deck, especially the pheasants looking to be fed. The lodge was splendidly equipped with games, books and DVDs. Enough for a wet fortnight! in fact, everything had been thought of. Keswick is a friendly small town in a fabulous setting, with a very good open-air market twice a week. Derwentwater is very beautiful, with lots of easy walks. And the Lakeside Theatre is an added bonus. We went to one performance there(very good) and twice had a meal in their lovely restaurant overlooking the water. In fact, we enjoyed everything so much that we are already planning another visit next year. Must also say that the girls in the office were extremely helpful and friendly. The only thing that wasn't playing ball was the weather, but even that was better than forecast and there is plenty to do in Keswick, rain or shine. So thank you for a lovely Autumn break!

It was a lovely stay and there were lots of little extras to make our stay lovely. • "In the main we enjoyed our stay at Tutheren."

We were also so lucky to have sunshine every day even with a cool breeze. It is in a great location despite the traffic noise from the busy A66. We found the main living area to be spacious and comfortable although personally we are not keen on leather seating as it feels chilly - but that is a very personal choice and I took a throw to cover the couches. The TV worked fine. The kitchen eating area was perfectly adequate as we only made breakfast each day (cereal or toast). I left the kitchen sink cleaner than I found it. The general cleanliness was adequate but there were cobwebs and the cabin window sills and openers were not clean. The veranda was not too clean or the furniture, so perhaps nobody had stayed the previous week? On arrival it all felt rather chilly but we got the heating going and it soon felt warm and comfortable. We found the bedrooms to be a squash to be honest and it was hard to find a mirror to actually see yourself clearly as the pine walls and ceilings together with the poor lighting gave the place a bit of a gloomy feeling, which also made it difficult to read anywhere. I was expecting hotel quality bedding for the price we had paid but it was not. You have to keep the blinds closed either side as the neighbours cabins were very close by and therefore you could see into each others cabins. That was not a big issue for us but again it kept the light out. The bathroom was small but the shower was good. We are older so would have appreciated a rail of some sort within the shower cubicle. We appreciated the bird food tubs on the veranda and enjoyed feeding the birds each day and watching their antics closely whilst having breakfast. We thought the key collection worked very well. A lot of the above comments have been raised in previous reviews. Tips: We enjoyed the food especially at the George Hotel though the portions were enormous and they catered well for gluten free customers. If you go into Keswick to eat in the evening around 6.30pm - 7pm you can park on the opposite side to the key collection office on Station Street for free, without paying heavy car park fees. We found it probably best to book your evening meal in advance as we did have a struggle to get in anywhere one evening, so pre plan is our advice. Keswick as always is lovely and we can also recommend a drive to Pooley Bridge (car park £8), sail on Ullswater to Glenridding, and go for a light lunch in the fantastic surroundings of the Inn on The Lake, then sail back again. Lovely! All in all we enjoyed our Keswick holiday.
