"What a beautiful spot!"
If you're looking for peace, cosy comfort & a gorgeous view then look no further...... The children loved the freedom of exploring Mosedale on their scooters & the dogs loved the walks from the house, as did we. The cottage was cosy, comfortable & very well equipped. The real Christmas tree was a lovely surprise, as was the delightful welcome gift. The only thing we found hard was leaving at the end of the week. Many, many thanks for a memorable Christmas holiday.
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay at Two Town End and hope you will return soon. The Owners. Property Owner

"This was an 80th birthday celebration, one of the group tested positive for covid the day before we were due to arrive, we tried to change the date of the booking to avoid our 80 year old mum from being at risk, the request to change the dates was rejected."
We were very disappointed, as we could not request a refund or change the dates two of the group decided to still go to the cottage. It was very cold on arrival at the house, smelt musty and damp, the boiler was not switched on. Half of the cooker does not work, the cleanliness was hit and miss, we did not use two of the 3 beds and the main bathroom had not been cleaned for some time. It lacked any warmth, had a wood burner but no starter logs or even matches to light a fire. The cottage is remote, we paid for our dog but didn't take him, which was a good thing as there are many sheep very, very close to the house, we thought the lack of garden would not matter with the surrounding area but didn’t consider sheep. The kitchen is very outdated and lots of the items are badly in need of replacing, the frying pan was burnt, unclean and unusable. We stay regularly in cottages and wanted to share this as a family of four with our mum/grandma and we’re so disappointed that things turned out this way.
Thank you for your feedback. I was sorry to hear that one of your group had tested positive for Covid and that the visit was for an 80th birthday celebration that could not go ahead. I understand your frustration and disappointment. Unfortunately none of this was communicated to me (as owner). With less than 24 hours to go, when Lakelovers rang me, we agreed that 50% seemed a reasonable way for the costs of cancellation at such short notice to be shared. Had you explained why you were cancelling, I would of course have been happy to change the dates with no charge. Our cottage is professionally managed and cleaned and I have passed on your comments about cleaning/ replacing the frying pan and this was addressed immediately. I am sorry that you did not like the wooden kitchen - it was made locally in Caldbeck (about five miles away). I checked the cooker after you left and it was working (the timer was on which is why one part was not heating) and this could have been sorted had you contacted the property manager. I understand that the weather was bad that weekend but the cottage has an excellent condensing boiler and a responsive thermostat for the guests desired temperature. Most people love the fact that the cottage is up in the fells and we are surrounded by Herdwick sheep. A well behaved dog is always welcome (at no extra charge) and there are wonderful walks to enjoy with a dog. I do hope you will consider returning to the area with your dog and enjoy some of the walks the area has to offer. We would be delighted to have you stay at a discount to the usual rates. "We had an amazing time here, thank you."
Thanks to beautiful weather, we were able to go to The Tarn (Bowscale) and went out fr some lovely meals at Casa Bella and at Lake Road Brunch. Cottage is well equipped, so thank you for a lovely holiday! It's a wonderful base for walks and exploring the Lakes, with a comfortable cottage to return too.

"We love The Lakes and have frequently visited for over 30years."
We wanted to have a cottage with good facilities in a quieter spot of The Lakes yet not too far from attractions surrounded by beautiful countryside and that's precisely what we got.

"Thank you so much, we had a lovely time in this fab cottage."
The weather did not put a damper on a stunning area and wonderful home to return to. Thanks again.

"Lovely property and a great location for the north lakes."
We really like that it is quiet and a bit out of the way. Walks from the house are good, and it’s only a 20 minute drive into Keswick. It was our second time staying here. The house has plenty of space for our extended family. Kitchen is good and well equipped and we enjoyed family time with good home cooked food each evening. Outside sitting space is a little limited, but the lounge and bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. Even though the house is in the north lakes, access to the rest of the Lake District is good. I’m sure this won’t be our last stay

"Beautiful cottage & stunning walks from the door."
Loved walking and running. Such a cute find and definitely be back. Thank you.

"This is a nice quiet property with walks from the door."
However, describing it as 9 miles to Keswick is a bit of an exaggeration as it's not in Mungrisedale as stated, but in Mosedale, which is further north. The true distance is actually 12 miles. We all found that the pillows (feather, I believe?) provided compressed easily and were very poor in support. The beds were adequate, though. The kitchen was very well equipped but the cleanliness was not up to usual HOTL standards. It's also worth noting that the internet is via 4G, not broadband. Whilst fast (60Gb) when it was working, it was intermittent and we lost the connection for 2 days totally. The modem required a reset; unfortunately, that is in the adjacent property which was unoccupied at the time. The HOTL maintenance dept. provided the keycode access for the property so we could reset this ourselves.
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you liked the cottage and walks from the door. Mosedale is the hamlet beyond Mungrisdale leading directly into the fells and my understanding is that Heart of the Lakes clearly mark the property as Mosedale. I have noted your comments about the cleaning and pillows which I am taking up with the housekeeping team. The internet in our part of the Lake District is via mobile broadband. I believe the issue you had was due to a power cut which knocked out the broadband and this had to be reset. I gave instructions on how to reset the broadband within the hour of learning of this issue and thought that you resetting the broadband yourselves was the quickest way to get you back online. I do hope you enjoyed your holiday and will be returning to Town End in the future. Property Owner

"The cottage was lovely and the location was great."
However the cleanliness was not great. The wooden furniture in the lounge had not been dusted for a long time so I had to do it when I got there. The tables and fireplace mainly ! It had everything we needed and was comfortable but could have been a bit cleaner.

An enclosed patio area rests at the front of the property, featuring two wooden benches, welcoming you to take a seat and enjoy a well deserved rest after your travels, taking in the peaceful setting and planning your adventures for the days ahead.
Entering into the property you're greeted by the snug sitting room, originally built in the 17th century, and traditionally decorated with exposed wooden beams as well as a rustic period fire surround, the room offers a welcoming setting to enjoy a family film night, heating the room with the warmth of the woodburning stove in the cooler evenings.
Continuing through the property, you enter into the open-plan kitchen/diner, ideal for hosting a sociable gathering with your loved ones around the table as the designated chef rustles up a host of tasty treats in the kitchen, fully-equipped with all of the necessary amenities whilst maintaining the property's traditional character with its wooden fittings and range cooker with a rustic exposed stone overhead surround. After indulging in your culinary delights, head outside to the small enclosed garden where you can enjoy an evening tipple surrounded by the imposing fells and peaceful countryside. Returning inside, the ground floor is completed with a convenient cloakroom featuring a basin and WC, handy for larger groups.
