"Name misleading: not a cottage, not anywhere near the shore."
Access for anyone disabled/elderly difficult: very high step at door. Multiple trip hazards adjacent to car park area. Fridge on floor required kneeling to reach bottom shelf. Rack above sink made access to sink very limited. Outside area at back unattractive. Considerable road noise from an early hour. Some intrusive noise from owners when upstairs. Very clean and well presented internally. Good welcome pack and flowers.

A real home from home.

"Lovely property, attached to the main house."
We were using it as a base while moving into the area so not the average holiday! It was great to have somewhere comfortable to come back to, and I was very tempted to take the oh so comfortable recliners with us when we left! My only negative was that I found it a bit cold, it being November, but the lovely owner provided an auxiliary heater which was great, so only a small thing. We will definitely be giving the details to family and friends when they visit.

"My husband and I and Lintie, our Scottie dog have just spent 7 days in this excellent accommodation."
We couldn’t have asked for more. Shoreside Cottage was so clean and comfortable and we slept better than we have in years. In fact we hope to buy a copycat mattress. The owner lived next door, was extremely helpful if we weren’t sure of anything and sorted it out immediately. We certainly hope to return - Lintie for the dog biscuits provided!!

"Lovely property."
Difficult to find the bungalow from photo as no view of the house it is attached to. Walked up and down street before we found it. Yes we had sat nav. Key safe not working properly. Would have like garden to be secured so we could let dogs off lead. Snug: not clear that the 2nd mattress is a pull out on the floor. Cream carpets not dog friendly. But a lovely stay. Thank you.

"Beautiful Cottage fitted out to a very high standard."
A home from home. A lovely 'Welcome pack'. and gorgeous fresh flowers were left for us, and doggie treats/towels and bowls for our dog. Made to feel so welcome. We accidently left clothing item behind and Lynn went out of her way to contact me and send them on to us. Perfect host.
Thank you so much …. Property Owner

About the location
SILLOTH
Maryport 12 miles; Carlisle 23 miles.
The popular resort of Silloth in West Cumbria lies north of the Lake District on the shore of the Solway Firth. On the opposite shore lie the hills of Southern Galloway in Scotland and to the south Skiddaw and the Northern Fells can be seen. Silloth was renowned for its "invigorating air, temperate climate, airy streets, its promenade and beach". It has glorious sea and mountain views and the light and the sunsets are renowned. It was developed in the 1850s; the railway arrived in 1856, the docks were opened 3 years later. The Carr's biscuit factory flour mill opened in 1886. Silloth was for a time, one of the country’s premier seaside resorts. The town was laid out on a regular grid pattern and planned as a "health resort for the upper and middle classes". The streets running off the wide, tree lined, cobbled Criffel Street are all named after the rivers flowing into the Solway Firth. The 'Green', an ever present feature is 34 acres of open grassland and is communal space for all to enjoy. Silloth and Solway Golf Club, situated in the town is a championship course which is ranked No 1 by the National Club Golfer Magazine 2016 for both quality and value. There are superb walks, particularly along the coastline, west to Allonby and east to Grune Point. Birdwatching is ever present. Both the Lake District and the English Heritage site of Birdoswald Fort, Hadrian's Wall are an easy 40 minute drive away. With quiet country roads and the Cumbria Coastal Way this is an ideal location for cyclists and walkers.
