"Ideal for a getaway."
Peaceful and relaxing. Also close to the Lake District .

"Wonderful home, really enjoyed our stay."
The extra treats were a lovely surprise, thank you. Can't wait to go back.
-
"This was our 2nd stay in the cottage and we had a wonderful time here."
We love the location, the views, the surrounding walks and all the animals and birds that surround the cottage. The cottage has everything we could possibly need on our visit.. The only thing I'd alter is the closure of the main bedroom door, it swung open several times whilst I was getting dressed, the door wedge is useless, we bought our own door wedge this year but that didn't work either. May be an hook and eye or a heavy doorstop would be better?

"We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage."
The setting was just perfect and so peaceful. We appreciated all the little extras included which helped to make our stay so comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and included those essentials you tend to forget - salt, pepper, oils etc as well as tin foil, baking parchment etc. The starter pack was very welcome while we waited for our Tesco shop to arrive!
-
"Outstanding cottage everything was perfect and we had a great time."
-
"This is such a beautifully clean and characterful cottage."
It appears newly decorated and carpeted in a charming seaside style. The situation is very near a lovely atmospheric coastline, great walks, amazing bird watching and so peaceful and restful. The cottage is very cosy, with a very efficient heating and hot water system. The beds are extremely comfortable with upmarket cotton bed linen. Silloth is just 5 minutes by car and, to our surprise and enjoyment, has a small, modern and pristine amusement arcade, an RNLI station and shop, excellent children's playgrounds and a lovely coastal walk past the 'Big Fella'! We had a really special lunch at the Fairydust Emporium and even the charity shops are excellent!.... everywhere is pristine and super child, dog and granny friendly!

"We had a lovely time at Marsh Villa."
It had everything we needed and was very comfortable and cosy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and loved the walks in between the rain showers. Thank you so much
-
"Lovely throughout the cottage."
Lovely quilt and bedding. The main bed is sound, just what we wanted. It is smashing that there is a wood burning stove. Hope to visit again next year. We found that every thing we needed was available in the kitchen or cottage. The front of the house, on a fine day, gets plenty of sun as it faces east. Sun rises are spectacular.

"We had a lovely week at Marsh villa ."
It was a great location very quiet ..I used to go to silloth on holiday as a child so the memories were lovely.. the cottage was well equipped and the owner has left lots of personal touches. Thank you for the welcome pack it was delightful ..everytime we drove over the cattle grid into the fields the same wild hare jumped in front of our car. It became a great joke but it was also fabulous too see the wildlife. Would definitely recommend this villa

"Very enjoyable stay."
Lovely and quiet location. The cottage was spotlessly clean. The BBQ provided was a thoughtful addition. Great walks straight from the door. The freezer was full of the previous clients half eaten food. No washing line as advertised. The bedroom curtains, although stylish did not keep the room dark enough to get a good nights sleep. The small table and chairs in the rear garden were so dirty it was unusable. These are minor issues but I feel they should be fed back to the owner. The cottage is beautiful and in a great location and we would happily return. Please do not publish the negative feedback on the website. Thank you

"Fantastic home from home, everything you could possibly need is there."
We would love to visit again if they will have us.

"We stayed here as an extended family of 6."
We all agree that March Villa is a wonderful cottage, very Comfortable, spacious, clean and tidy. The whole Cottage was well furnished and stocked with everything you could need. The kitchen had all the utensils, crockery glass wear you could need. Hand wash, cleaning products and sanitizer was supplied. . The area around the cottage was stupendous with Hares and loads of birth life. All the neighbours were friendly, helpful and cheerful. It was very handy for the beach, Siloth, Wigton and Abbey town, Maryport. Was an easy drive from Hadrian's Wall and the Roman Fort of Vindolanda . There's so much to do in the area it would take several weeks to do everything.

"What a lovely cottage!"
It had everything that you needed. From the welcoming pack to the ball thrower for Lucy the dog. Easy access to the sea and fields where we were able to enjoy long walks. We would definitely come back again.

"This was an amazing cottage."
All the comforts & needs were thought of by the owners. Arrived to a welcome pack of milk, bread, various tea, coffee, jame, biscuits etc. idyllic setting & located in the heart of many places to visit. Log fire for cosy nights in with an amazing view of the marshland. A public footpath takes you to the front where there’s a view of neighbouring Dumfries. Set not far from silloth for your local amenities with take away, pub, cafes & amusements with further sea front setting. A well recommended accommodation & visit.

"Our stay at Marsh Villa was fantastic."
Sam is an amazing host and the cottage was perfect for our family. Very clean, comfortable with beautiful decor and a lovely welcome pack in the kitchen! This was our first holiday with the dog and he loved it as much as we did! The cottage is ideally placed for walks along the beach and trips to the Lake District. I can’t fault anything in the cottage and we have already recommended the cottage to friends.
-
"We had a great stay."
Accommodation was well kitted out and full of character. Lovely room at the front for catching the morning sun and only a few minutes walk to the beach. Would thoroughly recommend.
-
"This is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location."
The whole family had a great time. Would highly recommend.
-
"Marsh Villa was a lovely homely villa."
We were all really impressed with how clean and well equipped the villa was, it was a proper home from home, the owners had really thought of everything. The sun room at the front was really nicely done and a lovely addition to the villa, it was so light and lovely to sit in, throughout the day and the log fire made the villa lovely and cozy in the evening. The surrounding area was peaceful and quiet, with nice walks nearby for the dogs. The sunset views from the beach were spectacular on a clear night. Would definitely recommend Marsh Villa to friends and family, we all had a fantastic stay there.
-
"Amazing cottage, lovely setting."
Everything you could need is provided. Would definitely recommend people visit and we will be back too .
-
"5 Stars all round."
Cottage is a home from home. Very good welcome pack. Very warm cottage with the added advantage of a wood burner to die for on a cold evening. We will be back later in the year.
-
"Beautiful cottage in a stunning location."
The cottage was spotless, and very well equipped. Very much home from home and a great base for walking and exploring Cumbria and the Lakes Would definitely recommend and will hopefully be back
-
"The cottage was beautiful, all the little extras really made it a home away from home, from a fully ready to go fire ( and extra wood in the shed) to plenty of crockery and glassware, even cookery books and a slow cooker!"
The milk and bread along with the tea and coffee basket was also amazing! We loved the thought that had been put into everything from hand cream in the window sill to dishwasher tablets, If I had one niggle it would be that the coffee table in the living room and dining room table was a little sticky, also lights and bookshelves where a little dusty, but we loved it so much we will be booking the cottage again!
-
"Beautiful property with excellent amenities."
The property was left in immaculate condition for our stay, with even little bits and bobs with breakfast which was great to see. Would highly recommend staying here, we loved our stay!
-
"What a cottage, Spotlessly clean, Toasty warm, Well equipped, all your creature comforts."
Beautiful location beautiful views, peace and quiet and lovely walks from your front door. The welcome pack was a nice surprise and the text to say the cottage was ready was very thoughtful. Amazing views one way to the lakes and the other way to Scotland, what more could you want. Silloth is a 2 minute drive away and has a lovely prom and a variety of shops.Well worth the drive from Bournemouth. We will be back. Peter October 21

"The king size bed really needs a firmer new mattress ."
We had to sleep on the small pull out in the snug as it was so uncomfortable . It could also do with a larger saucepan and a new frying pan . Apart from that it was wonderful
-
"Everything was great at this cottage itis in a quiet part of Skinburness we had a good holiday"
-
"This wonderful cottage has got everything for a comfortable easy stay."
The freezer and washing machine were great. Beautiful views and walks. Safe closed back yard for the dogs.
-
"Lovely cottage which was spotlessly clean."
Lovely little touches like bread, eggs and milk on arrival. There were six adults all staying and we had more than enough room. A great base to travel to all the surrounding areas
-
"We had a fabulous week away at Marsh Villa, the cottage had absolutely everything we needed."
The walks around Grune Point with the dogs were completed daily, we all had a great time and loved exploring the area. Lovely family memories made in a lovely country cottage.
-
"Marsh Villa is exceptional in every way!"
We could easily live here permanently! The attention to detail in every aspect was spot on & the place was immaculately clean when we arrived. So well equipped that we didn't need to bring a lot of the things we brought with us. Welcome pack & products etc included: eggs, bread, small milk, range of tea/coffee/hot chocolate sachets, biscuits, dishwasher tablets for the week, washing up liquid, sponge, cleaning products, mop, Hoover, iron & board, fire making materials, tea towels, oven gloves, handwash at all sinks, loo roll, kitchen roll, mini toiletries, salt & pepper, scrabble, playing cards, dog crate, bedding & towels. The only thing that isn't available is a hair dryer - so you need to bring your own. The only very minor negative is that the bedroom curtains are not blackout curtains. Amazing walks from the doorstep & ideally located to walk or drive into Silloth- which we found to be well looked after & the people were really friendly. Silloth West beach is better for dog walking than Skinburness beach, however our dogs enjoyed both. We also enjoyed the beach at Allonby, a visit to Maryport (25 mins) & also to Derwent Water (about 50 min drive). We will definitely be recommending Marsh Villa to our friends & family. We would definitely return.
-

"Beautiful cottage set up a country lane."
The house is like the Tardis, really spacious inside with two separate bathrooms both with showers. One bedroom with on-suite. Ideal location for a short walk to the beach. It is a beautiful, lovely cottage. Just the perfect place to spend time with family or friends. Thank you
-
"Lovely cottage and nice stay ."
-
"The villa was very spacious, with plenty of facilities for storing things."
This is especially important when you holiday in the winter and take more stuff with you. The place was very well decorated and furnished, and also very easy to keep clean too. Well stocked kitchen, and bathrooms. Comfortable bed, and good wifi availability. Only a couple of minor annoyances: steep stairs, with no real grab rail at the top, and downstairs shower a bit weak. But these were not serious!
-
"Extremely high end luxury cottage, real bonus for us during a cold crisp November was the log burner, so inviting each evening on returning to the property after a day of exploring local sites?"
! Property was spotlessly clean, the heating was on when we arrived late evening which made the cottage feel warm & welcoming. Kitchen was finished to a high standard with every utensil available for a variety of culinary uses. There was also a very thoughtfully prepared welcome pack with local produce, a very nice touch!
-
"Having been born, and brought up in Silloth,my family and I try to return as often as we can."
Up to now we have never found a cottage that suited our requirements. However this time we were so pleased to find Marsh Villa. This is an exceptional cottage, with a well laid out interior. The living room and dining room were a good size, with a cosy fire,,plus efficient central heating throughout. The conservatory was a dream, and the binoculars came in very handy. If a quiet holiday with good walking and the Lake district within easy driving distance,is your kind of holiday, you will find it hard to beat.
-
"Marsh villa is in a beautiful cottage and location with lovely views of the marsh and Solway firth."
The cottage was very comfortable and was a great based to explore the northern Lakes. The local town of Siloth has shops, pubs and a chip shop which I would recommend. Overall I would visit again due to its location and peaceful surrounding.
-
"Was absolutely amazing."
Fantastic house, very jealous and didnt want to leave! Not too far from any big towns. Thoroughly enjoyed the time as did our puppy :)
-
"We had a wonderful stay at Marsh Villa."
The villa has everything you need for a comfortable stay and more. It feels very spacious and there was plenty of room for the 4 of us and dog. The kitchen is very well equipped making preparing meals easy and we were left a lovely welcome pack that was much appreciated after the journey. The villa is within walking distance of the sea and Silloth is a good walk along the seafront or short drive away. The villa is very well equipped for dog visitors and the room at the back was perfect for our pup’s pen for nighttime and drying off, with direct access to the enclosed garden. Overall, lovely accommodation in a lovely, peaceful setting!
-
"The cottage is one of the nicest we’ve stayed in!"
It was immaculate, comfortable and the facilities were great! We would highly recommend it if you like a quiet rural location with lots to do around the area.
-
"Marsh Villa is a lovely cottage, it has everything you need and also a really nice welcome pack."
If you turn left out of the cottage and walk to the end of the land and back up the beach on the other side it is a lovely peaceful 4K walk. The beach itself is 5 minutes walk from the cottage. We had a wonderful stay in the cottage and a week of walking. The Wheatsheaf in Abbeytown do really nice meals.
-
"Beautifull cottage, lovely decorated and has everything and more you need for your break."
In a stunning location overlooking the Marsh and a few minutes walk from the sea front. Excellent place for bird watching and beautiful walks. It's just over 2 miles walk to the town siloth along the sea front, and not to far from the lakes.. Would definitely stay here again.
-
"Wonderful holiday cottage."
Very comfortable and clean. Also well equipped,Lovely thought supplying kennels if required.
-
"Very pretty, comfortable cottage which was beautifully decorated for Christmas."
Wonderful boot room for drying off wet dogs (and humans) and all other facilities were excellent. Good area for walking or touring the Lake District and west coast of Cumbria. The only tiny drawback was the steepness of the stairs but if you take care they are ok - don't think any elderly or infirm people could manage them though. Certainly one of the best equipped and thoughtfully decorated properties we've stayed in and we self-cater at least four times a year.
-
"We love it here, the cottage had a really nice feel about it, we could not believe how lovely and homely it was."
-
"A beautiful cottage wonderfully maintained and comfortable Obviously it is relatively new to the rental market but it is the best cottage we have ever stayed in in terms of quality cleanliness and facilities We rent at least twice per year but have in the past been disappointed in terms of inaccuracies in how it is promoted by the rental company and frequently the property is not well maintained or clean!"
Not the case in Marsh Villa it is superb
-
"A fantastic cottage in a stunning and private location."
I can not recommend this cottage highly enough. Lovely welcome pack, loads of room and very clean. The kitchen was equipped with almost everything you could possibly need. 5 minute walk to the beach with beautiful views.

The views from the cottage are amazing and the walk to the beach is literally 5 minutes away. Great place and would recommend it to an another family!

Had everything you needed in your welcome pack. A quiet location and a must for anyone wanting to stay around that area. Far from Windermere but nice visits to Maryport.

"This was a gem of a cottage, a lot of thought had gone into making sure all our needs were met and making this an enjoyable holiday."
The cottage was clean comfortable and lots of little extras provided for us to start our holiday. Excellent location with secure back garden for our dogs. Lots of walks close by, or by car the lakes are 30 minutes away. I have no hesitation in recommending this cottage and will certainly return in the future.

About the location
SILLOTH
Maryport 12 miles; Carlisle 23 miles.
The popular resort of Silloth in West Cumbria lies north of the Lake District on the shore of the Solway Firth. On the opposite shore lie the hills of Southern Galloway in Scotland and to the south Skiddaw and the Northern Fells can be seen. Silloth was renowned for its "invigorating air, temperate climate, airy streets, its promenade and beach". It has glorious sea and mountain views and the light and the sunsets are renowned. It was developed in the 1850s; the railway arrived in 1856, the docks were opened 3 years later. The Carr's biscuit factory flour mill opened in 1886. Silloth was for a time, one of the country’s premier seaside resorts. The town was laid out on a regular grid pattern and planned as a "health resort for the upper and middle classes". The streets running off the wide, tree lined, cobbled Criffel Street are all named after the rivers flowing into the Solway Firth. The 'Green', an ever present feature is 34 acres of open grassland and is communal space for all to enjoy. Silloth and Solway Golf Club, situated in the town is a championship course which is ranked No 1 by the National Club Golfer Magazine 2016 for both quality and value. There are superb walks, particularly along the coastline, west to Allonby and east to Grune Point. Birdwatching is ever present. Both the Lake District and the English Heritage site of Birdoswald Fort, Hadrian's Wall are an easy 40 minute drive away. With quiet country roads and the Cumbria Coastal Way this is an ideal location for cyclists and walkers.
Please note that this property can only accept 7 night bookings and the booking would need to start on a Friday.
