"Lovely property well maintained and comfortable would be nice not to have to take own towels but that’s the only complaint."
Lovely walks from the door in quiet area.
-
"Absolutely fantastic cottage in a perfect location and would definitely stay again, don’t really have anything to complain about but this maybe the only cottage that we have stayed in that didn’t supply towels and did not have a dishwasher."
But to me that wasn’t a problem..

"We had a gorgeously happy family fortnight staying at Grisedale Cottage."
Homely, comfortable, spacious and yet cosy and very calming , plenty of space and privacy for 6 adults. Loved breakfast outside, thunder rumbling in the hills, light and airy windows and really well thought out accommodation. Great to have the laundry changed mid stay and the lawn mower man! Only criticism we have is directed at Sykes. Pre booking we rang Sykes to enquire if the garden was completely secure for dogs as from the images it looked as if some of the fencing was too open and didn't have supporting mesh. The very kind chap said he would check and get back to us. He reported that it was 100% secure. On arrival it was clear that this wasn't the case. The ranch fencing at the front is far too open at the front and this is clearly stated in the property handbook. So that was frustrating, especially after paying the doggy surcharge. However property wise this is a real gem of a stay and we loved it.

"Our stay at Grisedale cottage was absolutely perfect from beginning to end."
Three out of five of us had never been to the Lake District so it was a complete new view - Beautiful. The cottage was so homely, comfortable and exactly what we needed to relax for a week away from daily stresses of work. Watching the different birds on the bird feeders was bonus. So excited to think about booking again for next year. Thank you

"Great cottage."
Comfortable, warm and spacious. Best things are the location and views. Would definitely stay again.
-
"We have stayed at this cottage several times and really enjoy the location and peace and quiet."
-
"This is a warm, cosy and comfortable cottage in a fabulous location with many walks straight from the door."
We had a thoroughly enjoyable week.
-
"Lovely old cottage."
Great location for walking in Newlands and the north western fells.
-
"Lovely property felt really home from home."
Perfect location too. Everything you needed was there would go back definatley

"We absolutely loved staying at Grisedale Cottage."
It doesn't have the most up to date interior but it is so comfortable and warm that it made it hard to leave! The owners have thought of everything you need for a short stay and we'd love to go back. The location is beautiful and you can easily start a day's walk from the door. It's quite remote but the pub is within walking distance and a village just down the road you have everything you need.

"We love Grisedale Cottage - this was our third successive year since we first found it!"
It is in a wonderful spot, quiet and with walks in every direction. For a walking holiday in the heart of the Lakes, it is hard to beat. Grisedale Cottage is warm and comfortable, and we like the way it has been modernised while retaining the feel of the structure of the building. We were 6 altogether for several days, and there is plenty of space and bathroom/shower facilities for that number. We hope to be back!

"Another fantastic stay in our favourite Lakes cottage."
The property was very clean & tidy as always and very well equipped. Just one wish would be going back to providing towels as having to bring these for all the family adds a lot to the luggage. Thanks for another great week.

"The one double bedroom opposite the bathroom desperately needs a new mattress to ensure a good nights sleep."
Also when I lifted the bottom sheet there was some loose clippings possibly from the dried leaves in the dish on the window sill. I had to ring the manager of the home as I could not open the window as I didn’t want to force it, it looked newly painted so I thought I would ring for help and I must say she was rather abrupt. Otherwise the cottage was perfect.

Beautiful location stunning scenery lovely cottage only request would be for a dryer in case weather bad a better mattress on the 2nd double bed overall well worth visit and would certainly go again

"The location was fabulous."
Lots of walks on the doorstep. Very peaceful apart from a rude awaken at 5.30am one morning by visitors at the outdoor activity centre next door. The garden is fenced but is not secure enough to prevent a dog escaping. The accommodation is comfortable even if the decor is a little dated. The oven and hob were also dated and slow to heat. A dishwasher would have been helpful. Wi-Fi was good. But overall we have a lovely stay and would book again.

"Lovely spacious cottage in fantasic location."
Had all we needed for a great stay. Other than mastering the control of the storage heaters (for which, to be fair, we were too lazy to follow the instructions) we wouldn't change a thing. Loved sitting in the bay window reading and watching the birds outside (and the rain on the window!). Maybe a small welcome pack with tea bags and milk would be nice, but we came prepared so were fine without. Great to have books and games, Torch also came in handy as there was a short power cut when storm Noah came through! Would like to stay again.

"A fantastic location in a lovely cottage"

"Given that it was freezing temperatures upon our arrival, it would have been very welcomed for the cottage to have its heating on and a bag of fuel for the fire provided."
Thank goodness for extra blankets! The advert needs to state provide your own fuel. The washing up liquid and tea towels were a lovely surprise given it is post COVID and we had to take our own towels. Bit confused by that but still great they were there. Shame insufficient toilet rolls were not provided. Again, make it clear what is needed to be brought. Finally, our stay was just before Christmas yet there were no decorations whatsoever. It could have made the cottage so magical given it's amazing location.
-
"We had a lovely week at Grisedale Cottage."
It has a superb location, is very comfortable and very well equipped. Despite the freezing temperatures we were very cosy and enjoyed some superb walking. Having the Swinside Inn up the road was great too! We would definitely return.
-
"A lovely well equipped cottage in an amazing location."
Didn't give full marks for comfort only because: a) 2 upstairs bathrooms would have been perfect b) 2 of us banged our heads on the extractor fan, getting bread out of the bread bin! I think we will be back! Thank you.
-
"We have stayed at this property numerous times over many years and love the location."
It is getting a bit tired now so some bits def need updating. Will we be back? Absolutely.
-
"New hob required ."
Very hard to regulate storage heaters need updating. Otherwise it’s okay.

"Lovely spot lovely cottage & people great break away from everything thank you!"
-
"Really good property and we would certainly go again."
A couple of areas for improvement: Weather is often damp in the lakes and things are difficult to dry. A combined washer dryer (there is currently no dryer) would be a significant improvement Garden is enclosed. However, fence is not good enough to keep in a dog or small children. Improved fencing would be good.

"Lovely cottage in a fantastic location."
Very comfortable with everything we need for a relaxing family holiday.
-
"Another wonderful stay in the cottage - our 22nd year."
Grisedale is such a homely cottage and is as cosy as it is well appointed. It's spacious, beautifully furnished and in a supreme location. Highly recommended for the North Western Lake District.
-
"We stayed in Grisedale Cottage at much the same time last year 2021, and thoroughly enjoyed our time then, as we did this year."
The cottage is lovely, and the location wonderful when you are looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet, yet with a bit of life in the form of youngsters coming and going to the adventure centre close by. It is off the beaten track, hence the peace, with walks in all directions - wonderful! We hope to be back, all being well, in 2023!

The mattresses especially in double room were very uncomfortable and not good for anyone with back problems Otherwise excellent well located cottage
-
"A lovely house in a tranquil setting."
Nice garden which was well maintained. This house felt like home from home very quickly and would return if going back to the Lake District. A quiet part of the Lakes but close to Keswick for shops etc. Walks from the door which was lovely for the dogs.
-
"Located in a quiet park of the Lake District but easy drive to Keswick."
West facing garden for those afternoons spent at the cottage with an afternoon drink. A good location for the Newlands Valley peaks and Grisedale Pike etc. Dog friendly, clean and all the facilities you need. Would recommend.
-
"We loved staying in Grisedale cottage."
It was just right for the six of us, and we enjoyed sitting in the garden and looking at the view (as well as then climbing the hills!). It is in a nice quiet corner of the Lake District and within easy walking distance of a nice pub.
-
"We had a wonderful stay - the cottage is so quiet and surrounded by beautiful scenery."
Excellent facilities and comfort- we always self cater so a dishwasher would be a welcome addition! A shame there are no towels but the cottage description prepared us and we brought our own . We will definitely be back - so many big walks to be done from the door. Thanks for a brilliant stay.
-
"The cottage was very homely and comfortable with just about everything we needed."
There were 6 of us and 2 dogs and plenty of space to be comfortable in every room, for eating, watching tv etc. The location was great with lots of walking accessible from the house, and a fab local pub nearby serving lovely food. The only area which let it down was a lack of shower towels - there was bed linen and kitchen towels provided, so there is obviously a laundry service. This has been remarked upon by several guests previously and really ought to be addressed. Also, a dishwasher would be a good addition. Would recommend this cottage.
-
"Our stay at the cottage was pleasant, the only thing I would recommend supply bath towels and maybe welcome pack."
-
"Loved the cottage."
Very warm in the evenings (November), found no need to light the stove in the sitting room. What a location in the Newlands valley. Will book again next year.
-
"Wonderful views."
-
"This is a lovely cottage in a delightful quiet setting, with walks in all directions."
It is well equipped - it felt lived in, and we are sure the owners must use it regularly. It is spacious, and we lacked nothing - it exceeded our expectations. We found that walking up the road/lane to Skelgill was the best way to get to Derwentwater and the Allerdale Ramble: no traffic and an easy walk. We did the Newlands Circuit; Causey Pike; and cottage - Skelgill - Hawes End on Derwentwater - Grange - Rosthwaite and back. Wonderful walks, happy memories! We some comment about running out of hot water, but had no problem there, as there is a bathroom and shower room, each with an excellent electric shower. In summary, we were smitten and hope to be back! (And just to be clear, we have no connection to the owners - we are grateful to them for making their lovely cottage available to others to enjoy.)
-
"There was never enough hot water."
Even with the “boost” button on the immersion heater the hot water was barely enough for one decent bath. After a day walking the fells everyone in the party wanted to relax in a hot bath. This was a big disappointment.
-
"The cottage itself was lovely, with a secure garden that our spaniel enjoyed safely exploring."
However, the storage heaters had been off which, combined with the unexpected cold weather (thick snow on the peaks), made for a chilly first night. There was only one small cupboard in the kitchen which was not already full of things for us to keep food in. The email we had with the final cottage details, plus the description on the website (now altered, I note), stated that towels were provided. When we turned up there were no towels. After a chat with the very nice lady in charge, we established that the cottage never had towels and the description was wrong. Fortunately we were able to buy the last couple of towels in Cockermouth Sainsbury's that night. Finally your email stated that checkout was at 10am but the instructions in the cottage stated 9am. We erred on the side of caution and vacated by 9. Overall, a lovely cottage in a beautiful location - the photographs really do it justice - only let down by the letting agency's inaccurate emails and website details.

"We have had a lovely stay in this cottage as we always do."
This place feels like a second home! Be sure to try Grasmere Gingerbread!
-
"Can't get enough of this place!"
The cottage, fells, lakes and walking are all so special. Thank you for helping us visit this paradise.
-
"Another visit to this property."
Spectacular views which we never tire of seeing. Such a shame we had to leave! But the dogs needed some rest!
-
"We love Grisedale Cottage."
It was our second visit there. We love the location and that it is cozy, warm and well equipped, even with a slow cooker, which we really appreciate.
