  • "A splendid cottage finished to a high standard."

Unfortunately we had no WiFi until the last evening. Lakelovers and the owners did try to resolve this in a timely manner, but failed to hear the problem so there were 2 delays which resulted in a few additional days. We would return as it is such a great space, really comfortable, well supplied, very clean, and a lovely location.

  • "The cottage was in very good condition, excellent bathroom and kitchen facilities, very comfortable and clean."

Set in a beautiful, scenic friendly village with equally good facilities and walks. The only downside was that some of the information on the website about parking and garden, conflicted with the information on the hosts folder in the house. We were not sure which was our garden or where to park, so more helpful signs outside, and one set of clear written instructions would be of benefit.

In the property there was everything we needed to make our holiday comfortable from washing machine with tumble dryer to lots of kitchen equipment. Interior is lovely and cosy with fireplace for colder evenings. Bathroom is very stylish and modern with bath and shower room. Double bedroom is equipped with double bed (mattress too soft for me but everyone has got different preferences), bedside cabinets with bedside lamps, wardrobe, drawers and mirror. Smaller room has bunk bed and drawers within the room. Near by is pub with delicious food and nice coffee shop if you fancy relax with the drink and cake. Plenty to do around from walking to Keswick or hiking Blencathra. We had a lovely stay and we would return again.

  • "The cottage was immaculately clean inside."

Kitchen was well stocked with utensils and some basic cleaning essentials. The stairs were really steep but to be expected. The bathroom is lovely and large, and clean. Now, the bedrooms. The cottage is advertised as having a double bed. I don't believe it is a standard double. I'm 5 ft 5 and my feet hung off the end of the bed. The mattress was terrible so it was hidden with a memory foam topper that was even worse. Couldn't move in bed at all and woke up with a bad back, neck and shoulder every day. The result was that we took it in turns to sleep on the bottom bunk in the 2nd bedroom. Which was firm and more comfortable and you could actually turn over without falling out of bed. The cottage wasn't advertised with parking however the information left in cottage directed us to an area to park. Problem was you couldn't ever get in because everyone else was parked there. We didn't make use of the garden as it was unclear which one was for our use and wasn't very accessible directly from the cottage. Overall, if the bed and mattress were improved, we might stay again, otherwise not.

Very clean and tidy ,lots of sockets for charging .kitchen was well stocked with equipment for your stay.we really had a lovely chilled weekend much nicer to stay in a cottage than hotel. Only small drawback parking in the village ,we managed to park up on the road the 1st night but did struggle the next day however owners had given us directions of parking space for cottage and we then checked with we were in the right place, the owner came to the cottage very quickly to help after that we parked there for the rest of our stay. Book early for the local pub as it was busy.

Thank you so much and also for leaving the Cottage so clean! Property Owner

  • "Really lovely, practical property."

Clean and cosy. Lounge/kitchen area really comfy with plenty of space and everything you need. Great bathroom! Fab for dog. Easy on street parking at this time of year (autumn), lots of lovely walks from the door including Blencathra. A few minor suggestions to make this cottage even better: - the main bed is creeky and quite small - a sign for your garden! - we found the front door key a little temperamental at times until we worked out the knack. No WiFi or TV the last few days of our stay but we think this was due to a problem with a mast in the village rather than the property itself. The rest of the time it was a great connection, Thank you for the lovely fudge too. We would definitely return.

  • "We have already given feedback to the owners that the topper on the bed was very uncomfortable and that the front door was difficult to lock."

We were also a little disappointed that the “garden area” was so far from the property that it made it unusable. That said the cottage was lovely, had everything we needed and we had a very enjoyable week and would recommend the cottage. It’s in a lovely village and a great base for some wonderful walking.

  • "The property has been recently refurbished and was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our short stay."

The owners were excellent, proactively providing a bedroom fan in the extreme temperature and responded immediately when the hot water failed. The location in the village is spot on and even though the garden and parking is slightly away from the property it was not an issue for us and was a nice place nice to sit and enjoy the sun and for those who have kids and pets. The only slight negative was the bed frame was a bit rattly.which hopefully can be sorted. We would definitely consider a future stay and recommend.

Nice and comfy and had everything we needed. Great hot shower! Would like to come back in winter and make use of the cosy fireplace. Parking was a bit tricky as we came in 2 cars but found space further down in the village so all ok in the end. Went to the White horse for dinner in Scales and had gigantic portions, very delicious and welcome after a hard days walking. All in all a great location and nice little cottage :)

  • "We really enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable cottage, which has been renovated to a very high spec."

It is a credit to the owners who must have put a great deal of hard work in to it. However, just a few suggestions. As there is a washer/dryer, it would be good to have an iron & ironing board, also a few more kitchen utensils, a sieve, microwave equipment & salt & pepper pots & a sugar bowl & a nice big fruit fruit bowl for the table. We presumed there wasn't a hoover because the cleaning is contracted out, maybe they could be asked to hoover up the crumbs we found under the settee cushions . Thank you for a lovely holiday in your super cottage. Don & Sue
