"Perfect for our stay."
Good location. Well supplied cooking utensils. Not much hot water available at a time, so baths/showers needs to be strategized. During our stay the grill of the cooker was not working. Property does need modernising, if decor is important to you. Fine for our purposes though. Would stay again.
Thank you for your feedback. As the shower is electric, there is no restriction on how much hot water is avaiable for guests to use. There is a booster button if more water is needed for washing up, baths etc, although this will take time to heat up. The housekeeper checked the grill and found this to be working correctly. "Great location."
Has everything you need. The only additionI would make is a stair gate from Kitchen to the living room to keep any four legged friends on the kitchen at night. We travel with our dogs crate so we used this instead. I lived the vintage decor some call it dated I loved it! Very clear. Has everything you need in a great location. Would specifically look for this cottage again when returning to the Lakes.
Thank you for your feedback. We use the back entrance room, which has a door ileading nto the kitchen, for our dog to stay in overnight, as this also has heating and is a good size. Thank you for your positive comments on the decor, which I actually think suits the style of the cottage very well!! (I know I'm biased!) Regards. Lorna Property Owner

"We have been to this property a number of times and found it quite comfortable and clean for a holiday break."
It has not been modernised like other properties adjoining which are more expensive. Very convenient for getting to Keswick without being in the centre of town. The garden area needs some attention. Just a point the wi-fi log in details on the confirmation are not correct but are in the visitors book.
Thank you for your feedback. which has been noted and I will try to sort out. Regards. Lorna Property Owner

"We had trouble finding the cottage as it is not 300yds before the farmers arms as in your paperwork, you actually have to turn in front of the pub and the parking is 50yds on the left."
The cottage is no2 derwent edge does not appear on the cottage. The cottage was very charming and well appointed but in need of lots of maintenance and the front garden is an eyesore. We have stayed with sykes a few times before and will do so again.

"A fantastically located cottage, ideal for exploring the local fells and for access to a good pub to eat and relax afterwards, but badly in need of some TLC, falling far short of the standard set by the many other Lakeland cottages that we have stayed in over many years: - beds, as previously mentioned, are unbearably hard and uncomfortable; - cooker hood not working - I'm surprised the smoke alarms didn't go off as I wrestled to control the dreadfully slow-to-react hob and burned the sausages; - kitchen taps that didn't want to turn on ."
. . or off! - lacking a coffee-maker - not even a cafetière - I missed my morning coffee but the nearby Chalet was a life-saver! - general decor / furniture old and worn - - etc I thought that the heavily discounted last-minute booking price was going to be a bargain - it wasn't!

"Really enjoyed our stay here."
We'll equipped comfortable cottage in a great location. Having parking is also a bonus visiting this area.

"Lovely clean property with everything that was required."
Hot water and parking, great location.

"The cottage was perfect, had a comfortable stay and the location was excellent for my purposes, landscape photography."
-
"The cottage is clean, cosy and comfortable apart from the bed, we cut our stay to 3 nights as we couldn't face a further one."
Our backs were killing us. It is such a shame as we would love to go back but not with that bed. When I stripped the bedding prior to departure it was evident that the mattress was old as it was stained and tatty although it does have a mattress protector to cover it.

"Positives - The cottage was very clean, homely, well equipped and well located and we enjoyed our stay."
The local pub was very popular and served good food. The chalet cafe also sold nice food and cakes. Our only negative feedback is - The wi-fi router frequently lost signal when we did use it in the evenings for our Amazon firestick we brought with us to watch Netflix/Prime. A pizza cutter in the kitchen would be a welcome addition. The parking space was very tight for our car, particularly when next door vehicles were parked at home. The kitchen corner cupboard above the fridge is a bit of a hazard when standing up from using the fridge and we bumped our heads on the corner a couple of times - a bit of cushioning fitted to the corner would be welcome to prevent future painful accidents.

"A very comfortable stay."
Home from home. Hope to return in the future.

"Great property, surprisingly spacious and very well equipped."
Really useful having the pub next door! Loads of great walks nearby so you don't need to use the car. The walk to Keswick is about a mile and a pleasant stroll. Perhaps I might have missed it in the booking info, but the garden is not enclosed, so couldn't leave the dog outside alone. Also the curtains in the twin room do not fully cover the window, thankfully the morning sun did not wake my child too early, but might be an issue for others.

"Excellent place to stay warm, cosy and well equip and very comfortable bed will certainly be back"

"The cottage was warm and welcoming on arrival and appeared cosy and attractive inside."
It also seemed pretty clean, given that this is pet-friendly accommodation. The facilities seemed OK, aside from the feeble shower. Overall, it would have been a perfectly enjoyable stay, but with the one major drawback of the bed in the double room. Sadly, our 4-night stay was spoiled by broken sleep and physical discomfort thanks to the hard, thin and apparently rather poor quality mattress. I managed to make it just about tolerable by padding the mattress using the fleece blanket and the duvet, and borrowed another duvet to sleep under from a relative who lives locally. The mattresses in the twin room didn't seem to be much better, being rather worn with clunking springs, but fortunately this didn't bother our young children. Considering the cost of our stay, this was a far from satisfactory experience. Please invest in some decent beds, it would make a world of difference.
Apologies. I will certainly look at the mattress. I think this is the first complaint I have received about it and have not had a problem myself, but will look into it. Property Owner

"Down stairs very good , upstairs smelt very old and damp , cupboards and wardrobes upstairs wouldn’t put anything in them horrible smell , bedding was clean but smelt horrible , couldn’t have a bath as the water was cold ."
Apologies. I will look into your complaint and try to get it sorted. It has not been mentioned to me before. Thank you. Property Owner

"Ideal location for day trips around the Lakes."
Handy having a bar restaurant next door. Could do with a larger freezer but everything else spot on.
-
"Super holiday."
Communications from Sykes great, cottage exactly as described but also lovely and clean and better equipped than anticipated. Would be very happy to go there again.
-
"Cottage was exactly as advertised - no frills but everything we needed for a fab week in the lakes."
Really well equipped, clean, comfy and with a good, useable outdoor space. Also within easy reach of lots of local amenities and activities so we barely used the car during our week away.
-
"The location was excellent very close to village pub and having your own parking space was good."
We throughly enjoyed our stay at Derwent Edge.
-
"Lovely location situated in a nice quiet village."
Very close to the local pub. Not far from Cat Bells which is a beautiful walk there are some stunning walks straight from the front door. Would definitely stay here again

"First class from booking to arriving."
Derwent Edge cottage was just what we expected and more. A real home from home with great facilities and everything thought of. We are planning to go back for another long weekend. Great location and within easy access of Keswick and stunning views en route.

"Perfect location, great cottage with everything you need, would definitely recommend it and hope to go back"
-
"Just perfect."
Location was good. Far enough to be out of the hussel but close enough to all amenities. From arrival the car never moved till we went home again. We are planning our next visit as,soon as we can. I would say,if i had to be really picky, that the shower could do with abit more pressure but its definitely not a negative in any way. Think we have found a hidden gem in Derwent Edge.

"Great location."
Average cottage that could do with an update/refurbishment, bit shabby in places. Outside could do with a tidy up. Cottage does contain all the necessary items. We understand this was a dog friendly cottage, but the strong dog smell was present.
-
"Location & fully equiped."
