"What a beautiful, characterful, Lakeland Cottage."
What a Gem. The views are stunning. Everything about the cottage was perfect. It had a lovely feel to it and was lovely and warm. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you need and more! All the beds were super comfortable with equally comfortable bed linen and very large bath towels. There was a great selection of games in the cupboards and drawers if you wished to spend time with family/friends after a busy day out and about. Plenty of room to put coats and boots. Cosy lounge with comfortable seating. It felt like stepping back in time with the trinkets and pictures. Loved the private sitting out area at the back but also had a quirky cottage garden at the front with a small bench to take in the spectacular views. There are so many more positive things I could say. We all loved it. Definitely would stay here again.
Thanks for your lovely review of the cottage. It’s exactly how we see it ourselves and gives us great pleasure to know that others feel the same way. Property Owner

"We loved our stay here."
Comfortable, close to the town but quiet and with great views from the windows. Very well equipped kitchen but we would suggest the provision of a couple of large serving spoons and a grater.
Many thanks for your feedback. Very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. The views are hard to beat :) Well noted on the serving spoons. There should be a grater tucked away in a cupboard so will double check on that. Property Owner

"Had a fantastic birthday week, the cottage was absolutely brilliant."
It was warm, cosy and comfy, and a pleasure to walk back to after a hard days walking in the mountains. Had everything we needed. I can not fault it,.. it has it all. The location is perfect too, being central for the whole of the Lakes we were able to visit Ambleside and Keswick, Rheged for a movie, a spa and afternoon tea at The Daffodil, and of course our walks across to the cafes and restaurants of Grasmere. Perfect.
Very pleased to hear you had a great week in Grasmere and surroundings. Many thanks for your glowing review of the cottage. Much appreciated :)) Property Owner

"We were four friends spending a few days together in Grasmere and Hollens Cottage provided the perfect base."
A characterful old house, it was beautifully warm and snug though the weather was pretty chilly. We were blessed with dry weather so were out walking every day, but had it been wet, we could happily have spent the time in the cottage! We had everything we needed: the kitchen was well equipped, the comfy sitting room was well supplied with games and books… nothing to fault and we would happily book to stay again.
Very pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and even better that the weather was on your side :) Many thanks for your kind review. Property Owner

"Very comfortable."
The bedroom in the basement could have a mirror nearer to the free sockets to make hair drying easier (we had a long lead). The light outside the garage was on permanently but was no longer on when we left, bulb given up maybe? Takes a few minutes to locate and work out what light switches work what lights. These are MINOR points, it is a welcoming property we have stayed in often and hope to in the future
Thanks for the feedback. Indeed some of the electrics are not so easy to fathom at first. The outside lights are now repaired and we will look into the mirror downstairs. Glad you liked the cottage, we want all our guests to feel at home :) Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying
GRASMERE
Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
