  • "Lovely, deceptively spacious cottage - in such a central location, perfect with two young children."

Wonderful beds, slept brilliantly. Have booked for the October half term again next year, thank you, Jen

  • "A spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped property, very handy for Grasmere village and with convenient parking."

The utility room was very useful for drying out our wet walking gear after all the rain. Just one slight criticism in that we had to provide a few items ourselves including kitchen roll and spare toilet roll, which we have usually been provided with in other properties. Overall a very enjoyable stay, thank you.

  • "Once again had a good week at Mollys cottage despite the rain most days and I will be back but I must say the beds now are well overdue for new mattresses ,the toppers now do not make a great deal of difference to comfort."

  • "A very cosy well equipped cottage."

So handy for the centre of Grasmere and the bus stop is just a few yards away. We parked up and used the bus or walked everywhere, not using the car all week. So you could easily do this holiday by public transport. The 6' bed was a real treat. There wasn't really space for a second car as the people in the end house had a large car and it would have made it very difficult for them to get in and out if we had a second car parked in front of the house. Lovely stay overall.

  • "We've stayed at Molly's Cottage a number of times and we love it!"

The proximity to local amenities and walks are hugely beneficial to people like ourselves who have young children, so being right in the heart of village and still having a lot of privacy and peace is really important to us.

Thank you for your comments. We are glad to see that you enjoyed your stay, and the location. We hope to welcome you again. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "A lovely, comfortable and well appointed cottage, with neat touches like automatic lights on stairs/landing, and in an outstanding central, but quiet location."

We enjoyed our stay. The only thing to be aware of is that there is no outside seating space - the listing mentions “courtyard”, but this is the shared frontage space for access and parking only. We had such wonderful weather all week, it would have been nice to be able to sit outside with a cool drink. Having said that, the village green is only a minutes walk away, but that’s obviously a public (and busy) area.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the property and it's location. I have double checked the listing and can see that there is no outside seating advertised, I am sorry that this was a disappointment for you. Heart of the Lakes Owner Relations Property Owner

  • "Lovely stay, great location and great that there is parking for two cars."

The TV was a little intermittent and not as listed in the handbook. The automatic lights, particularly on the landing were a little frustrating, especially at night time.

Everything else was fine and we enjoyed our second visit in spite of the weather. Thank you.

  • "My husband and I had a lovely week staying in Molly’s Cottage."

We found everything to be as described, and were relieved to find the super king bed to be very comfortable after having been a little concerned by a previous reviewer’s comments. We both slept very well. Everything was spotlessly clean and the kitchen well equipped. The utility room with its underfloor heating and hanging rail was great for drying off wet coats, and it was handy to have a loo downstairs too - this is mentioned in brackets in the cottage’s description and I only spotted it a couple of days before we set off; might be worth making that a bit clearer as it is a big plus. The living area is spacious and comfortable. The location is excellent with cafes, shops, bus stop and walks all literally seconds from the door. Grasmere is a beautiful village and there are many lovely walks without having to move the car. As we only had one car, we parked in the allocated space diagonally across from the front door, and we were glad we didn’t need to use the space directly in front of the door and windows. The courtyard there is quite narrow; maybe a small to medium car could manage but certainly nothing bigger. Something to be aware of if you are taking two cars. We would certainly consider staying here again.

  • "This was the seventh time we have stayed at Molly’s Cottage."

We love it for the location and all the walks you can do from the door. It was nice to see the property had had some refreshing done since our last visit in 2019 with the new sofas and some paintwork but the beds really need replacing after all these years. I know that mattress toppers had been introduced but the main bedroom needs more than that now. The bed still creaks (something we’ve mentioned after previous stays) and the mattress was so old and saggy this time it gave me a bad back and I had to move to another bed which wasn’t great either.

  • "Molly's Cottage is everything that we wanted in a holiday cottage!"

It is clean, and comfortable. The owner has thought of everything that one may need. All is modern and in working condition. The beds are comfy after long walks. Minor things: the pillows are quite flat and the shower drain was clogged and drained slowly but none of this interfered with having a wonderful holiday. We definitely hope to revisit Molly's Cottage.

  • "We had been looking at the property for a while, and were pleased to be able to get the week we wanted as it was an area we had visited many times but never stayed at."

The property is in a great location in the village and had everything needed. Unfortunately after waiting so long for a holiday we only spent one night there, we originally delayed going by a day due to the flood warnings so arrived on the Sunday evening, and then on the Monday morning my partner fell on a walk, a trip to hospital, and a badly bruised / swollen ankle and was told to take complete rest for 2/3 weeks, so we sadly made the decision to drive home as would be unable to do anything all week apart from sit indoors. Not the holiday we had planned sadly. Only a couple of other things to list are, the kettle was broken which I rang and reported when I notified we had returned home early, also, before going I asked if the leisure club at the hotel was available to us and the email reply was that it was but I may have to call and book a swim slot etc, however when asking on the Monday morning when we walked past the hotel we were informed we were unable to use as due to covid they had closed the changing rooms and the facilities were only open to residents. Hopefully we will be able to return one day and fully enjoy the property and area.

  • "The cottage has a few problems, a change of mattress on the single bed would be advisable ;the springs are uncomfortable."

The sofas are past there best and you sink that far down in them and it made us all have a bad back by the end of the week. That said we all had a good week but I have booked the cottage again in may of next year. I did so before I had had this weeks holiday and am now worrying if one of are party who suffers with a back problem will be able to cope siting on the sofas ..

4 May 2022. The sofas and armchair in the lounge have been replaced with 2 new high quality sofas this week. Mattress toppers have been added to all the beds for extra comfort. Property Owner

Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District.
