"Thank you for our super weeks stay."
.third visit. Looking forward to next time! Looking out from sun room is so joyful..although each day we were off walking all day. Great position with big walks from the doorstep. No problem to us, so no complaints but some people may not like some loose stones on patio at front. Also, duvet could do with replacing in small bedroom . It has old stains on it I noticed when stripping beds on changeover day. Thank you again. Carolyn.

"We had a lovely relaxing holiday at this cottage."
It is a short walk into Grasmere and an even shorter walk to Faeryland who do the most wonderful teas and cake. There is plenty of room in this cottage for you all to have your own space. I loved how there were little instructions on labels around the house, much easier than plowing through lots of lists. Would love to come back as was perfect for us, but we will have a dog next year.

"A lovely cottage in an idyllic location; nicely remote to afford peace, quiet and tranquility, and yet close enough to the village for all the amenities on offer there."
A couple of minor issues which we brought to to the owners attention, and which did not detract in any way from our wonderful stay at this wonderful place.

"The property is in an idyllic setting, with plenty of communal areas for five adults to be together or apart."
Our children would like to live there, however, my opinion has been that by letting it out provides the opportunity for fifty or more families per year to experience the Lake District without having to drive anywhere. There are short, medium, long, low, and any degree of height gain walks straight from the front door. Nonetheless, the income from the property exceeds the income of the average married couple, and having rented the property on a number of occasions it is disappointing to see that no maintenance has occurred since our first visit. The owner could have spent some of the income on maintenance providing employment for Lake District residents who are finding it increasingly difficult to find affordable rental property let alone buy one. I am of the opinion that the owners are just taking advantage of this idyllic property to plunder the Lake District and put nothing back. We arrived on Friday at ten past four. The plumbers arrived ten minutes later. They had been informed by the cleaner that the toilet in the smaller double room was out of order and they had come to fix it. On inspection the plumbers said they needed a part because it was a Saniflow toilet. They would return on Monday to fit the part. They did. It’s first test failed to remove the deposit taking many flushes to send it on its way. A plumber returned on Tuesday. After changing another part he left us with instructions on how to use the toilet. The occupant did not trust the effectiveness of the toilet so used the communal toilet in the kitchen for the remainder of their stay. On our last visit we remarked between ourselves that the place was looking a bit tired, but when a place that is advertised as having three en-suite bedrooms and one does not meet that expectation, then each defect in the home becomes more noticeable until you wonder when was the last time the owner took it out of service and put some money back into the community.

"Charming cottage."
Beautiful views. Ideal situation. Our only complaint is that the bathroom in the 2nd bedroom is too small but we used the 3rd bedroom en suite instead.

"This is a very comfortable cottage in a stunning location."
It has the best views of any cottage we have stayed in . This is our second visit to this property. The only problem on this occasion was the cottage had not been properly cleaned prior to our arrival. There was breakfast cereal and some string on the carpets. Upstairs were five dead flies on the carpet and bedding. There was some hair in one of the showers. The kitchen was clean and tidy and otherwise the property was in good order. If the owner wishes to see photos of the above they can be provided on request. I would not let this put you off staying in this cottage as it is brilliant otherwise but the cleaning service used needs to be reviewed.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed the views. We take all comments on board, and will ensure that our high standards continue to be met. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"We absolutely loved our stay at Pavement End Cottage."
Such a wonderful position just on the edge of the village with the spectacular outlook to the lake and fells beyond. We particularly enjoyed the sun room for its fabulous views in all weathers. Cosy when it rained and heavenly in the sun. A cottage that suits all seasons. Spacious, comfortable and child-friendly. Such a fantastic base for hikes and swimming at the far end of Grasmere lake. We hope to return!

"We had a fabulous week at Pavement End Cottage."
Great location, beautiful views, hill walks from the door, lots of options for eating out, and home comforts to come back to. It felt like a privilege to stay in what is obviously a well-loved family home - the photos don't do it justice, it is very spacious, ensuite modern bathrooms were a great bonus, and it had everything you needed for cooking etc. We will be recommending to friends and family.

"Pavement End \cottage is a lovely property, and beautifully situated at the edge of Grasmere, though only a 5 minute walk into the village centre."
We had all we needed in the cottage and were very happy there. If we had any concern, it was only that, for the size of the cottage, we found the kitchen rather small, and with not much actual working space, if we were cooking. This did not detract from our enjoyment however.

"A second TV would be good."
but other than that we had a lovely holiday

"Overall good."
But several issues which let it down which I have not reflected in my scoring. Kitchen not properly cleaned: old breadcrumbs in bread bin. Most of crockery needed washing. Not good given ongoing COVID issue. Poor standard of glasses - I sustained a small cut on lip as I hadn’t noticed chipped rim on glass. Several of the glasses had this damage. Note left in bedroom that a new light shade would be fitted on Monday, as just bare light bulb in room. No one came to fit. These few things let down what would have otherwise been a near perfect stay. We would still stay here again.
Thank you for your feedback. Please accept our apologies, Lakelovers look after the cleaning for Pavement End Cottage and this matter has been reported to the Housekeeping Manager, as this falls well below our expected standards and we have made the owner aware of your comments too. There has been a delay in receiving the replacement lampshade, we will fit this as soon as possible. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we hope to see you again Property Owner

"The cottage itself was in an amazing position with beautiful views, exactly why we booked it."
It was very large and the furnishings etc were comfortable. There were a few minor and one or two major things that let it down, first the minor: - the company seemed to have skimped on leaving towels and soap for all the bathrooms: - apparently extra crockery had been removed because of covid but this meant that we had to wash plates and cutlery during meals sometimes, which were of course being eaten in because of restrictions. The more major issues: - we were called whilst on our way to say one of the showers was broken but would be fixed on Tuesday. This was inconvenient but not the end of the world. However the shower wasn't fixed and despite e mailing we didn't hear anything else. It was inconvenient and we weren't offered compensation as I would have expected. - the lights in one of the bathrooms didn't work, presumably linked to the shower. - the majority of the double glazed windows in the conservatory and lounge overlooking the lake were blown. This is a minor issue until you realise that you are looking at the view (the reason for booking the house) through condensation or it is completely obscured in a couple of cases. In all I think the management company needs a bit of a shake up and the house needs a small amount of work to make it perfect.
Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry to hear your comments, our housekeeping team along with the owner are now looking into all your comments and we will address the issues as soon as possible. I hope this doesn't deter you from revisiting Pavement End Cottage and hope to see you again in the near future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Property Owner

About the location
GRASMERE
Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance. Grasmere is a wonderful base for your Lake District retreat.
