  • "This was a lovely property and very close to Ambleside."

Lots of space and in the main it was clean. There does seem to be quite a bit of damp particularly downstairs and the downstairs bathroom had quite a lot of bugs in the shower basin so we didn't use this. The kitchen had all good utensils and cooking facilities and easy to use. The lounge was cosy and warm. It would be good if checkout was just an hour later. 10am is quite early. Particularly on a Sunday. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

  • "3 of us stayed so one room each - I picked downstairs ."

The room felt damp so I had to try and put heating on ( tricky) . Extractor fans would be good . Area is handy and quiet. No real outside space ( no problem when weather mixed when we were there). We would stay again now we know the house quirks .

  • "We only stayed for two nights, and weren't in the house too much - but had a great time and I think it's a fantastic house."

Our decision to choose your house was mainly based on cost and parking. We were impressed with how neat, tidy and clean and comfortable it was. Great views and very peaceful. Loved the layout and spacious rooms, and only a short walk into town. I think the published pictures don't do the property justice, but I wasn't worried as having lived in Ambleside for a number of years and been inside properties throughout the town, I think the more modern properties and this area are very underrated, and have a lot of advantages over the older more traditional style properties lower down in the town.

  • "Curtain pole in lounge broken so unable to pull curtains on at night could do ..."

Curtain pole in lounge broken so unable to pull curtains on at night could do with both showers updating especially the one downstairs otherwise everything perfect nice touch with the tea and coffee sachets left and dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid other landlords take note all in all a very comfortable stay and very secure for the dogs out back

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologise that the curtain pole was damaged. Unfortunately, the previous Guests had not reported the damage so that it was not possible to replace and repair in time for your arrival. The issue has now been resolved. Property Owner

  • "It would be helpful if towelling and large dustbin bags could be provided sufficient for six for their length of stay."

We found there was insufficient storage space in the kitchen for our own commodities. There were far too many cooking implements taking up valuable space. It is too crowded to sit more than 4 at a time around the kitchen table. We used the one in the lounge. The house was really well stocked with reading and walking literature. The property is also very well situated within the national park.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
