"Absolutely beautiful cottage, home from home for Myself,Stew and Dennis our dog."
Everything on our doorstep for our needs and Dennis's. Will definitely be returning.
-
"Lovely cosy cottage within easy reach of the village of Ambleside on foot."
Would definitely recommend, and we have already booked again for next year. The only reason why I don't give it a perfect score would be the difficulty in parking a car in the allocated space, especially when the cottage next door is occupied, and the bed in the second bedroom is rather uncomfortable with springs clearly felt through the mattress - obviously not an issue of you are only going to use the main bedroom.

"Great location with a short stroll to the town and easy access to the Lake District."
Parking was very easy and the facilities ensured great value for money.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you had an enjoyable stay. We hope to welcome you back to the Lakes. Thank you The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"This is a lovely cottage."
Fully equipped for our stay. Our only concern was that the bathroom shower seemed to leak and affect the ceiling in the downstairs dining room on one occasion. It looked as though this had happened previously. We were very careful not to run the shower very long thereafter. Other than that we would quite happily stay there again.

"Having now been to Bay Tree cottage a few times and loved it, there definitely is attention needed in places - The back of kitchen glass double doors to outside aren't secure."
A lock or bolt top and bottom would prevent them bring able to be pushed open. The little front garden though lovely has a very dangerous little step up, which is all falling to bits - accident spot. This time we found a very toxic smell when oven was on. It continued each and every time and therefore didn't seem to be from any cleaning agent that may have been previously used. The kitchen door we had previously mentioned, it would be far more practical opening flat against sitting room wall than awkwardly into kitchen . Overall however, the property is really cosy and very well kitted out and in great location. With attention given to these few changes..... we would highly recommend it to anyone . "The boiler pressure dropped on BH Monday and the emergency contact numbers did not work."
I had to climb into the loft to top the boiler pressure up. The shower really needs a refresh. Lots of mould. Grotty grout. The toilet cistern didn’t fill up unless you put your hand in and move the float valve. Full of limescale. Under the sofas there was a lot of dust. Smaller bed uncomfortable. There’s water stains on the GF ceiling. Left 2 logs and kindling but no fire lighters. The gardens need a good clean up. The hose pipe is broken. Laminate Flooring peeling in dining area. Only one bin bag for the week. Had a nice time but the cottage needs a fair amount of TLC. Could be really lovely but now it feels very tired.

"The cottage was easy to find and there is parking available for 1 car at the front."
It’s only a short walk into town which was really convenient. The garden is fully enclosed with slate chippings, so it was ideal for letting our dog out. Only minor gripe was that the shower was a bit grubby under a plastic mat and the knack for getting the shower head to stay in position when showering was a challenge. Other than that it is a lovely cottage with a fantastic open fire which makes it feel really cosy.
Thank you for your feedback, we are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you back soon. I will pass on the feedback about the shower to the housekeeping manager. Property Owner

"Nice property in a good location which was clean, generally comfortable and well equipped."
Despite the issues identified below we would still return. On an evening it was cold and we had problems getting the heating to work however overnight and on a morning it was too hot and there wasn't any instruction or information folder to help. This wasn't particularly comfortable after a full days walking in the rain. A complimentary load of fuel for the open fire would have helped. We were surprised to see there wasn't any antibacterial hand wash provided in the kitchen and bathroom which is normally provided in our experience.

"This is a great property in an excellent location but it is 'tired' and in need of updating."
e.g. Bathroom needs refurbishment, kitchen needs refurbishment and whole property needs to be rewired with additional sockets rather than the current dangerous extension leads and socket adapters.

"We loved staying in Bay Tree cottage."
It was comfortable and well equipped. The open fire was a big plus when it was snowing outside-very Christmassy. It was a very quick walk into the shops and pubs in Ambleside and there were plenty of walks to do without driving anywhere. This was ideal as we were snowed in on the Saturday and reluctant to drive due to slippy roads on the Sunday. There is a nice little back/side yard which is secure. Our dog did not escape. It was too cold to use the table and chairs outside, but I imagine it would be fantastic to sit there admiring the view. The only thing I would say is to be aware that the heating/boiler can turn itsself off. This happened a couple of times while we were there. But you can turn them back on by switching the separate switch on the wall under the sensor in the wardrobe of the main bedroom. It took us a while to figure this out, so it might be worth making that clear. Our friend stayed with us for a couple of nights and the owners very kindly allowed her to bring her dog. This is a one dog property, so we were delighted when they agreed to let Ivy come too. We had a fantastic visit-one of the best cottages we’ve stayed in for comfort and location.

"The cottage was cozy and comfortable."
The location was great - short walk to Ambleside and more strenuous walks around the Fells. We enjoyed the fire and the kitchen was well equipped except for dishwasher tablets (only one supplied for 2 people and not enough cutlery to last more than 2 days), no paper towels and only 1½ toilet rolls provided for 2 people for a week. Most of the cottage was very clean but the broom pan was full of dog fur and dirt that had not been tipped out. The drainage in the shower was poor and the fridge was freezing some veggies. If these issues were remedied it would be an ideal cottage. We had a problem with the hot water failing but Sykes were swift to respond and Dave was around within an hour to fix the boiler.

"We really enjoyed staying at Bay Tree Cottage."
It was clean, cosy and comfortable....just what we wanted. The cottage offered the best of both worlds being only a very short walk away from all the shops, restaurants and cafes etc in the town centre, yet still quite and peaceful with some beautiful hillside views.

"I really enjoyable break at Bay Tree Cottage, perfect location and very comfortable base for a weekend hiking."

"Outside light blew fuse when we switched it on ."
Left a note .wasn't a problem for us as we knew what to do however it may have caused a problem for someone else .

"A lovely, comfortable cottage."
Very close to the town which is only a few minutes walk. Well equipped kitchen. Very nice little gardens at front and back. Highly recommend!

"Overall the property was very comfietable and cosy."
Plus in general nicely furnished, but there are elements in the cottage that are becoming worn and tired, and could just do with a sort out. Some of the items compromise overall cleanliness. The cottage is in a great location, handy for town and with parking which is a massive plus in that area. One or two issues with plumbing which need to be addressed, otherwise will prove costly to the owner long term happy to provide further information.on this if someone would like to contact me?

"The bathroom main light switch non-operational, the extraction unit appears not to work correctly."
We have left a note in the property.
Thank you for letting us know about the light which has now been replaced, the extractor fan is silent and was only installed 3 months ago.. Property Owner

"The owners of Bay Tree cottage are to be highly commended - it's a beautiful cottage."
I myself have stayed in many Lakelovers properties over as many years, but I can honestly say Bay Tree cottage ticks all the boxes! My new Polish husband was extremely impressed! The attention to detail is very evident everywhere and the little personal touches are the icing on the cake. (....... we did notice one small thing that's asking to be asking to be changed - the inside kitchen door would work alot better if it opened into the sitting room flat against wall rather than the problem of always walking into it the way it's facing at the moment!
This property is part of the Lakelovers collection.

About the location
AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
