"The blinds let light in and side windows of the dormer bedroom window had no coverage so had to hang towels."
Bathroom mouldy, no hand soap. Parking very expensive. No coffee pot, e.g. cafetiere so had to buy instant coffee.

"This place is in the most excelllent location and suited all of our needs perfectly."
Would stay again

"Location was brilliant."
The apartment needs a lot of work. I have a catalogue of pictures of faults. It wasn't particularly clean. All key touch points I.e. door handles, bathroom. Not clean. Damaged sink plug in the bathroom. Re grouting and cleaning in the Bath/shower. Smells damp. Kitchen sink stained. Not acceptable for the price we paid.

"Surprisingly spacious for a flat with bigger rooms than most cottages we have stayed in."
It’s in a perfect central location overlooking the high street, with shops and walks from the doorstep. Warm, clean and cosy with good facilities. Good for couples or families with older children (as there are steps up to the property and some inside the property). Great that dogs are also welcome with the park being a 5 minute walk away. We’d recommend blinds in the main bedroom (or blackout in both) and a paint refresh on 1 wall in the main bedroom as everything has been recently decorated.

"We enjoyed our stay here."
Very central. We would, however, have liked some information in the property - in particular to the recycling of glass/plastic. The only bin was in the kitchen - for general waste. No outside bin. We left bottles bagged up as we couldn't find anywhere in Ambleside where we could take these.

"Excellent place to stay, incredibly roomy!"
We were easily able to host 12 people in the living room, with space to spare. No tea etc. provided but the Co-op being so close meant we could run down for the things we needed. Also not the easiest to find, would be great if it was more clearly marked. Would definitely stay here again!

"Great location with good-sized rooms apart from the bathroom which is poorly laid out."
Maybe lose the bath and make room for decent sink and toilet space. The toilet is very close to a frosted window with a flimsy/see-through bamboo blind so it felt like we could be seen from outside. The mattresses were pretty hard and the beds squeaked, which made for a poor night's sleep. The double room has a 3-sided dormer window with a single blind so be prepared to wake at sunrise. Well equipped kitchen with a full range of pots, pans, cups, plates, glasses etc. The frying pan lost its 'non-stick' many breakfasts ago so we had to buy one from the shop downstairs. The entire flat is in need of redecorating, as there are damp stains on the walls in all rooms. The WiFi didn't work and there were no instructions so we didn't know which network to connect to and had no password either. The phone signal is pretty poor in the Lakes so WiFi is essential. The biggest issue was the 'free parking permit', we arrived to find two parking 'Discs' so I felt like we had been duped. We had to move our car every 60 minutes between the hours of 10:00 to 18:00 every day, which was a real pain. On the last day, I spoke to the cleaner from downstairs who said that there should have been a yellow disc left for us. Did the last guest forget to leave it? Ideally, a welcome pack informing us about the parking permit and WiFi would be welcome.
Thank you for your feedback. The apartment is large and spacious which is unusual for a town centre in the Lakes. The bathroom layout provides for both a bath and shower so I feel it offers best of both worlds. The bathroom is not overlooked by properties and the frosted glass and blind are in my mind sufficient. The wifi box has the sign in code to the rear and is working unless there was a local outage in the area for a time of which I am not aware. I will check for this The apartment is close to the nearby Rydal Road Council pay and display car park and Sykes should have given you the parking tariffs and advised you of this. The tariffs are relatively cheap for various long stay parking durations. The parking discs you refer to are for limited stay on street parking to unload on arrival. Noted on the bedroom blind new ones are on order. The dormer with cheeks is an awkward one to furnish with blinds I have to admit The mattresses were specified as higher end ones by a Kendal supplier as the most popular and ones preferred by local hoteliers. Unfortunately firmness of mattress can be a personal choice Please let me compensate you for the frying pan if you could let Sykes have the details Kind regards Property Owner

"Location and property is perfectly situated for a family of 4."
Be careful with the shower as it dose go hot and cold alot , really suprised how quite the main street is at night as you can't hear the traffic. Really homely feeling about the property like a home away from home . Thankyou to the home owners. Would definitely love to come back again.

"Apartment is comfortable however was a bit put off my what appears to be water damage in the kitchen, lounge and front bedroom."
We had a power cut whilst there so noticed that the combi boiler needs a water top up as the water pressure is almost zero. Also had to bleed the radiators as they were not getting warm at the top

"We enjoyed our stay and won't hesitate to come again."
The property is very well placed in Ambleside at the top of the high street. It's the second floor in a building that houses the Co-op on the ground. It has a unique layout which gives it character. The property is slightly split-level having a small flight of stairs from the entrance/kitchen/bathroom level, up to the dining area/living room/bedroom level. The living room and bedrooms are extremely spacious. The living room has a large bay window which I enjoyed sitting in to watch the street life below. The kitchen feels modern, and the velux windows give it plenty of light. It has a small bar area for two to sit at. The kitchen facilities and utensils are plentiful. The bathroom also feels modern, there's a wash basin and bath and shower. Plenty of bath towels were provided. A small cloakroom area allows for coats and shoes. The tv has good reception and the wifi extends throughout the property. The property is very clean. We didn't hear any noise from the shop or it's morning deliveries; there was some noise from road traffic but nothing untoward. Parking is plentiful, the permit covers the whole of the Millans Park street which is immediately to the rear and is a long street. The decor is good but a fresh coat of paint wouldn't go amiss in some places. The blinds in the spare room aren't affective at keeping out the morning sun. It wasn't immediately obvious which gated entrance led to the property as there was no signage (except for #1 Redbanks next door). The shower feels "average", although probably depends on what you have at home :) Overall we were pleased and happy we got value for money.

"Unfortunately we were unable to use the living room as it smelled of wee (like cat wee) so was extremely unpleasant."
This made relaxing together as a family in the evening more difficult and the wifi didn't reach the kitchen. The property would also benefit from being signposted outside, as I had to walk down a few drives of different names to discover where the property was. In the positive, they have made a good use of space and the location is great.
Thank you for your feedback. I am wondering if a guests dog has had an 'accident' . I checked with the cleaning company and they advised they did not find anything. Noted on the sign posting. I was not allowed by the freeholder of the building to place a signage on the entrance wall, other than the apartment itself, but with the new entrance and gate I will seek to place a sign there. I have also asked Sykes to provide more detail on finding the apartment. Will check the wifi, I have not had problems before Again, thank you for your feedback. Property Owner

"Stylish, comfortable, warm, central, quiet apartment in ambleside."
Great art work, furnishings, facilities and decor, comfy bed. Easy access to shops, cafes and restaurants. Access to real walks direct from the door. Ability to watch the world go by from comfy window seat.
Thank you for your kind words much appreciated Property Owner

"Spoke to Sykes - I got one reply all weekend."
We went for a weekend away and the oven did not work. Despite Sykes saying the manual was there to use. The manual was not even for the oven installed. Secondly, we bought food with us so we did not have to pay for meals out. We were unable to cook any of the food and when we emailed Sykes we were ignored.

"Lovely property in a lovely town ."
Centrally situated to all you can need, we had to park on a car park only a minute away as a previous guest had taken the permit in error ( parking was refunded) to be honest it was a lot easier as I don’t think we would find a space anyway . Highly recommend

"Brilliant location just off high street with access from rear."
Spacious and clean apartment, no issues with wifi nor noise from CO-OP deliveries. Double bed is firm but after some hard days on the hills, I didn't notice! Parking available directly opposite and in adjacent roads, but bays are in demand given proximity to high street and restaurants. Definitely would recommend and use again.
-
"Great location and spacious accommodation easily suited to a family of four with a large dog however the standard of cleaning wasn’t very good."
The cottage itself is in need of some tlc i.e. stained walls, fridge door not closing properly, light bulbs not working, no outside light and very squeaky slightly uncomfortable double bed
-
"Fantastic apartment We had a great stay a very welcoming apartment."
It was well equipped and very cosy. Although it rained at times and couldn't go out, the apartment had good WiFi and dvds which was a nice touch. Although other reviews said the double bed wasn't comfortable, I found it very comfortable! I would defunitely recommend!

"High Ridge was a lovely place to stay in Ambleside."
The property was light and airy, clean, and the living room window was a great place for people watching! My only suggestion to improve it would be to have WiFi available, but this is only a small thing.
-
"Great location in the centre of Ambleside."
Property was well equipped and very clean. Perfect for exploring the lakes!
-
"A lovely well equipped, comfortable flat."
Our only suggestion would be (also mentioned several times in the guest book) would be to replace the double bed which is so uncomfortable and noisy (because of metal frame, it squeaks) and the ice box in the fridge has been broken for a while now. We used the twin room which was very comfortable. We enjoyed staying here and would happily use High Ridge again.
-
"They need new cleaners,,, bed absolutely horrendous no sleep ."
..pots and pans need renewing could not cook with them
-
"Fantastic location and lovely flat!"
Everything we needed for our stay.
-
"Leakage in the twin bed bedroom."
No wi-fi, shame, as these days is really needed and the TV signal was very bad. The double bed mattress very hard and the linen was not of good quality. Good locatio and comfortable, all the above can be easily fixed.

"The situation is amazingly central in Ambleside, but the apartment is not generally noisy, though the Co-op below does trundle delivery trolleys up and down."
Excellent facilities, though we found the fridge a bit small and the icebox got iced up very quickly and 2 coffee making filters (rather than one) would have been useful. Otherwise, excellent kitchen and cooking facilities and everywhere very clean. We would certainly use this again. Previous comments have included references to thin towels - they were fine and not thin and to the single beds being flimsy, but they were fine too. Having a car parking permit was very useful. Thanks for a good stay. The owner was helpful when we rang for advice.

"I think the problem with High Ridge is that at 5."
30 every morning the coop.has it's delivery of whatever, the noise is terrible and anybody staying in the double room at the back is woken up, as we were everyday. Apart from that brilliant, great facilities and a good position for everything, had a lovely holiday
-
"Great modern apartment in an idea location."
Only thing was the bed as my husband is 6ft 2 a double not quite big enough. It would accommodate a king size bed as the room is spacious and the living room has some paint flaking from the wall, just needs a lick of paint. Apart from that a lovely spacious apartment.

"A nice modern apartment in the heart of Ambleside."
Highly recommended.
-
"A well-appointed and well-equipped flat."
Good for local transport to access the fells. However there are some issues with the property that appear , from comments already posted , not to have been addressed: outside lights not working, problem with door on kitchen cupboard, light bulbs in the bathroom that have not been replaced. We expected some noise due to the location in central Ambleside however were kept awake several nights until around 2.30 am by people in the street shouting and singing. Also intruder alarms from local businesses were activated several times during the night/early morning. The property is advertised with one twin-bedroom. There is a double bedroom also but no bedding is supplied for this.

"My wife and I greatly enjoyed our week at High Ridge, a very neat and well-appointed holiday flat, and hope to return there some time in the future."
However, there are a few things which I should perhaps bring to your attention. Would you please forward this message to owner of High Ridge, Ambleside (ref. 933760):- * In both of the single beds, several of the wooden slats across the bottom of the frame (on which the mattress rests) are completely missing. This naturally makes the beds rather less secure and comfortable than they should be. * The remote control for the DVD player is missing. It is still possible to play DVDs, but without a remote it is not possible to access the extra features on them, such as episode selection, scene selection, subtitles, etc. A couple of other things are less important: * A light bulb in the bathroom needs replacing. * As you already know, a hinge on one of the kitchen cupboards still needs to be replaced. And I should like to make a couple of suggestions, which could help to make High Ridge even better: * A non-slip rubber mat for the bath when the shower is being used. (At the moment, the bath gets very slippery with soapy water from the shower. * A shaver point by the mirror in the bathroom. But, as I have said, we enjoyed our stay, and hope to return. Regards. Roger Harris.

"Fantastic spacious flat in the very heart of Ambleside."
Parking was easy even though it was busy. Shops, restaurants and pubs within easy walking distance. The flat itself was brill. Fantastic kitchen. Huge lounge. Roomy bedrooms. Just perfect for our first visit to the lakes. 15 min walk to Windermere. In fact all the major lakes were within easy distance by car. All in all a fantastic week.

"Location excellent and car parking permit essential and appreciated."
Could have been a lot cleaner. Decoration was tired looking. Mattresses and cushions were worn out. One set of towels p/p not adequate. Although Wifi was not listed I felt it should have been clear it was not available under the section no pets, no smoking etc.

"High Ridge is a very good property in the centre of Ambleside."
It is very well equipped and is in an ideal location. There are steps to get into the property and , as the flat is on two levels, a few steps inside which would make it difficult for anyone who has mobility issues .

"Fabulous apartment, wonderful location, very enjoyable week spent walking the Fells of the Lake District."
Highly recommended!

"The photos of the appartement don't do it much justice: in reality, it is bigger!"
It was also so spotlessly clean, I imagined we were the first people in it. And the location, oh... Ambleside is gorgeous, and the appartement spot in the middle of that gorgeousness.
-
"The apartment was very clean and comfortable and the location in the heart of Ambleside was excellent, there were in fact two bedrooms not one as stated in description."
Local ameneties could not have been closer with an abundance of pubs and restaurants within walking distance.

AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
