  • "We asked via e mail and telephone for the twin bed to be made up as one."

This didn’t happen. This is my only little gripe. The house is perfect. Beautiful decor and furniture. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need. Spotlessly clean. Lovely beds, great pillows. Modern wet room. White fluffy towels. Toasty hot heating system , ambulance of hot water.Beautiful views. Quiet. You can walk into Ambleside. Owners have left lots of information on walks. It was idyllic. We so enjoyed, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful property with us. May I just suggest an outdoor light as you enter porch, it was very dark when we arrived. Instructions on use of heating. Clarity as to which garage belongs to Jenever cottage. I hope you will take these comments as recommendations and are in no way complaints. We didn’t want to leave!

Hi Sian Thank you for the feedback. What a pity that the beds were not joined together. I hope that this didn’t spoil your stay. I will ask Sykes to keep a closer eye on guest requests. I have noted your comments and will look into an outside light. Thank you for pointing this out to us. The garage is going to have a door fitted imminently so there will be a number on the door but I agree it is unclear currently. I hope you decide to come back and stay again, you are very welcome. • "We were a family group of 4 - 2 adults and 2 adult children."

Sadly there was not enough sofa space for us to all sit comfortably together in the evening. Why not have more sofa space or a corner sofa - instead of a chess set and table when there are not enough seats. I love The Falls, and stayed in many places there - I love it, but without sufficient sofa space I would not return to Jenever. The listing was accurate, so I am not complaining - just giving feedback on why I would not return.

Dear Keith Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your suggestion and will look into how we can include additional seating. There is an arm chair and a sofa which works for some guests but unfortunately not for your family. We are conscious of providing a cosy but uncluttered living space but we have noted your comments. Kind regards Danielle & Eric Property Owner

Very tastefully furnished with such attention to detail. The setting is perfect. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds flitting across the falls. Thank you

  • "Everything about the cottage was top quality, fixtures and fittings left nothing to be desired."

Spotlessly clean , everything looked brand new.It was a nice walk down the hill to the town- bit of a hard slog back up which could be a problem for the less mobile. Only slight hitch was the water level in the boiler dropped too low, meaning there was no hot water . Just needed topping up by the valve, easy enough if you are familiar with boilers . Other than that all was first class and we enjoyed our visit . We definitely would return. Thank you .

Thank you for the feedback James and I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in Jenever Cottage. Your observations are right, the cottage is brand new and so is the boiler. I understand that air can get trapped in a new system. Thank you for this feedback, I have informed the contractor who installed the system and they will start checking the pressure for me. Hope to see your name again in the future bookings. Best wishes Danielle Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
