  • "Have stayed here before but this time not as good."

Dishwasher wasn’t emptied and tv remote under cushions in main room suggested that hasn’t been tidied / cleaned appropriately. Also feels like things are rationed - only two people staying but we had to buy toilet roll, no washing machine detergent and only 3 dishwasher tabs. More effort could be made. Also maintainence needed - blind in bathroom broken

  • "Please arrange something for recycling."

It was not clear that we had to go to two separate place for bottles and cardboard and there was no obvious information about plastics.

Unfortunately, as the property is a holiday let, the rubbish is collected privately and recycling is unavailable. ALL rubbish must be placed in the red sacks for specific holiday let use only. Guests are not permitted to use the recycling centre in Ambleside. This has strict rules for local residents only and anyone without proof of a local address will be turned away. There is a note on the notice board about how to dispose of the rubbish. Apologies for any confusion. Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, well presented and thought through."

Loved the jacuzzi bath, especially after a days walking. Check in at 5pm and check out at 9am would benefit from an hours leeway either way as there was no flexibility despite asking ((and no reply to my request). Current access times mean a late arrival to the destination and an early departure, but arriving at 4pm and leaving at 10am would make a big difference. Having wifi was great, but tv channel access was limited and while the tv manufacturers guide was available we couldn’t connect to broadband to use to its full potential. On a similar theme, there were loads of great dvds/ blue ray discs available but we couldn’t find a player! Overall a great location, really central, bit noisy as a result in the evenings due to the restaurant over the road and proximity to pubs and bars, and definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues due to several flights of external metal stairs needed to access the property but that’s all made clear on the property info too so wasn’t a surprise! High chairs are provided at the property which is great if relevant but due to the access route I’m not sure whether I’d stay there with very young children as the eternal stairs might be a bit tricky!

  • "A comfortable, well furnished property in a central location within the town."

I would recommend on the whole. However, as mentioned by other guests, the noise, particularly late at night, does create an issue. Part of this is a symptom of it's location, but could be partially addressed by double glazing. I understand building regulations may prevent this, but it was not ideal being woken up 3 nghts in a row in the middle of the night.

  • "Kelsick heights was the perfect place to stay in the Lakes."

The apartment had everything we needed and was perfectly located to enable us to walk around the area, but also best placed for driving to lots of the surrounding areas. Would definitely recommend and hopefully we’ll return soon.

  • "It did say this in the reviews, this is a well equipped flat and positioned well in the centre of Ambleside but it is noisy at night."

It would be good to get the bedrooms double glazed and an efficient cooling air fan as it was hot in the time we were staying there.

  • "This holiday let was great in so many ways."

Right in Ambleside, very clean and tidy, the kitchen had so many utensils etc. So easy to do self catering in with current restrictions. The kitchen is nicer than in the picture as it has been redone. I would have rephotographed this as its lovely. The bedrooms were very spacious and there was lots of storage available. It was a bit of a squeeze but there was a dedicated parking space which was good. We liked that the entrance was outdoors because of current covid situation we didn't have to be indoors with anyone to access apartment. The noise from the road is not ideal and could be vastly improved by new windows. In addition some of the windows could be easily pushed up and didn't lock properly. This was stressful in a second floor apartment with a toddler but I'm glad we realised rather than assuming everything would be safe as we did not leave him in that room unsupervised for even a minute. Same went for the fire door in bathroom. Obviously important but a worry.

  • "This is an absolutely lovely place to stay."

The stairs to are not really an issue at all. Very spacious and perfect location. The only think that I would look into is the 9am departure, we did it but it was difficult with 2 children. I would definitely recommend Thanks

  • "Positives- Great location- a very short walk to any location in Ambleside town centre."

Well decorated apartment. Lovely bathrooms with Jacuzzi bath. Nice window seat to watch the world go by. Good Wi-Fi and TV options. Negatives Beds in twin room not very comfy. You need to be careful getting to the parking area as it's a bit tight. Freezer needs some attention, but we didn't use it so not a problem for us.

  • "There was Black Mold in the Bathroom very off-putting."

The showers were just a trickle of water. The pressure for them was bad. The washing machine was full of wet laundry when we arrived. To rectify I would love a partial refund but don't have the time to pursue.

  • "Really lovely, well equipped, large, good value apartment."

But you need to make some things clearer. Parking is in Cumbria cottages spaces 1 or 2. (There's no Sykes Cottages sign) Clear info on how the heating works. And most importantly this is a central apartment and so is on a busy road with pubs with occasional loud music very close.

  • "Very good accommodation and location with parking, has everything that you need and more."

Only downside was the noise level from the Pub and main road (traffic/ people) was a louder than expected and gave disturbed sleep (we are not light sleepers).

  • "We were unaware that this was a second floor apartment which was difficult as we had a lot of luggage due to having a 1 year old with us."

The toilet seat was broken in main bathroom and en-suite shower was either too hot or too cold! Also it was very noisy at night which affected our sleep. No spare toilet rolls or washing up/dishwasher equipment.

only a couple of very minor things which we reported. fridge/freezer had broken door openings. we did forget to report that the bath tap was leaking.

  • "We chose this apartment as it was central to the village and the description listed the attractive cafe on the ground floor where we could enjoy breakfasts, etc We eventually located the entrance to the car park after driving round the one way system of Ambleside a few times - the main problem being that two of the landmarks (a shop and a restaurant) that you list have changed name/brand and thus the directions were useless."

Imagine our disappointment when we found that the cafe was now a solicitors office (no coffees or breakfast for us !!). I’d have to add that the office had been open for some time and was not a recent change. A very disappointing sequence of misdiscriptions which spoiled our arrival (and every morning ) of the break In all other aspects the apartment was great Please update your description so that others do not have the same experience

The apartment is located close to cafes and restaurants on Lake Road, just a short walk from the northern tip of Lake Windermere.

Accessed by an exterior staircase, Kelsick Heights has been finished to the highest standards from the comfortable and spacious living room with its feature bay window offering magical views of the fells, to the large, modern and fully-equipped diner/kitchen.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
