  • "Nice, well equipped maisonette."

Good location with lovely views of the fells. Always good to have an allocated parking space when staying in Ambleside.

  • "Lovely duplex apartment, very centrally located with incredible views over Ambleside."

Very comfortable and well appointed. Very quiet despite its central location. Would highly recommend.

  • "This apartment is great, loved the view across the rooftops of Ambleside to the hills and woods."

All the rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean, warm, and quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of pans, plates, and utensils. The shower room is good, and the parking space is conveniently off-road and near the main entrance.

  • "Great holiday lovely apartment."

Spotless clean a great views with everything you need!.the only caution I would give is if your on foot it’s quiet a steep walk upto the apartment. Also the apartment door lock/handle may need replacing at some point as it’s getting a bit worn.but couldn’t fault this place and great location, would definitely book again. One place to note ,If you walk to the end of the car park and down the little slope make time to visit the waterfall which is signposted directly to your right as you get to the bottom of the slope!.About 15 minutes gradual walk uphill though the trees but lovely

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

View from the floor to ceiling window in the kitchen made dining such a joy. Very comfortable sitting area and pleasing artwork of local landmarks on the walls. Powerful shower downstairs with the added bonus of a deep bath in the upstairs bathroom for a long soak after climbing Loughrigg. Good to see recycling bins and parking is almost outside the door. A well equipped kitchen - Sabatier knives, nice glasses and even Emma Bridgewater mugs! We shall miss drinking our morning coffee out of them looking at that wonderful view.

  • "The apartment has beautiful views of the town below and the hills beyond."

It's a very comfortable and homely apartment; well furnished, clean, and with plenty of kitchen utensils, crockery, towels, welcome pack, etc.  It had everything we needed; we especially loved the balcony. We would book this apartment again.

  • "The apartment is comfortable and well equipped."

A pleasure to find kitchen utensils that were in a very good condition. A minor point, provision of a disposable dishcloth or sponge to wipe round the kitchen surfaces would have helped. Paying £900 for the week you don’t expect to have to go into town to buy one.

  • "We loved our stay in Loughrigg apartment."

It's so central, just 5 mins walk to the main streets, shops and bus stops, yet very quiet. It was extremely comfortable and homely, well furnished and with plenty of kitchen equipment and general storage. The views were incredible. Yes, an uphill walk is involved in getting to the apartment (we did not bring the car), but there are ways of making it easier. We preferred to access via the path near the Salutation Hotel. With luggage, on return, it was easier to use the roads rather than the short-cuts. We would definitely return.

Dear Kathryn So pleased you enjoyed your stay and gave such a positive review. I 'm impressed you managed without a car. You must be very fit. A well known artist , Kurt Schwitter, lived in one of the tall terrace houses in Lower Gale in the late 1940's. In the winter when it was icy underfoot he use slide down that steep path on his bottom!! Best wishes Brian Property Owner

  • "There was no welcome pack that we have in the past."

Not expecting one but if there were not being supplied then we should have been told. We would have bought our own tea, coffee and milk had we had known. You property description said less than a mile from shops etc, no mention that it was very steep to get there and back. Very difficult to understand what rubbish went in what been also parking disc were available both not mentioned in the information file. Having pointed out minor points really enjoyed stay there

Thanks for your review. I'm pleased you had an enjoyable week staying in Loghrigg. A refreshment Welcome Pack should have been provided by the managing agents and I can only apologise that this was not the case. I will review the information set out in the guest folder to try to clarify those details about rubbish disposal, parking, steep gradient into Ambleside centre etc. Property Owner

  • "A beautiful place to stay, looking over Ambleside with the most stunning panoramic views."

Close to everything, extremely clean, nicely furnished and well-appointed, we felt we were living in luxury! We liked the clearly-marked recycling bins (which feel like a must for self-catering these days). As always we much appreciated the welcome pack waiting for us but also as always found ourselves buying a bit more toilet paper on the second-last day - it would be lovely to have just a couple of replacement rolls as standard. A maintenance note: a hall light and an upstairs bathroom light began to flicker and buzz during the week. We could neither find replacement bulbs or take the lighshades off to fix this so ended up draping things over them. Overall this was a glorious place to return to after walking or just to be in, taking in the ever-changing sky-scape and watching the life of the town below.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs in the village to suit all tastes, including the popular eateries of Misto, Sheila's Cottage, and The Lily Bar. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
