• "Hi there Lovely house and beautifully done Only 2 minor complaints."

  The lounge / snug are quite small and it’s hard to fit all 8 guests in the one room which made socialising on an evening a little difficult We also found the house quite cold as we struggled to adjust the heating downstairs Other than that fabulous house, fabulous location. Thank you very much

As valued guests of the cottage you are always very welcome to turn up the central heating as much as you like to your desired temperature, if the partial underfloor heating or woodburner do not suffice. As the snug room adjoins the river it can take longer to heat quickly, so a fan heater has been provided. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the cottage’s prime location and interiors. • "Rose Cottage is a really lovely property, so clean and tidy with great facilities."

  Our family of 8 with 2 dogs really loved Rose Cottage, the beautiful location with running stream next door,and wonderful local bakery opposite and such a fantastic warm property to return home to. • "The owners made us feel so welcome made us a lovely welcome hamper."

  We spent Christmas time at the cottage and my mum and dad’s 45th wedding anniversary which the owners kindly met us early so I could decorate the house for a surprise for my parents. The cottage was immaculate and had everything you would need 10/10 for us and would definitely book again.

• "What a fabulous cottage."

  The location is Amazing. You don’t need your car. Park up with the free pass provided at car park opposite. From the moment we arrived we knew we were going to have a great time. Large welcoming kitchen, great for large groups. Fabulous welcome hamper. Thoughtfully decorated. Lots of utensils and plates and glasses that all match! . Views out across the river from the snug. Absolutely spotless. I can’t recommend Rose Cottage enough. The communicator owner was brilliant.

• "Just returned from our second stay at Rose Cottage & I can't say enough good things about it!"

  It's in the perfect location for all that Ambleside has to offer, with shops, pubs & restaurants a stones throw away. There are lots of walks from the door, meaning that we rarely moved the car from the very convenient car park with a free permit included with the cottage. The cottage is really comfortable, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Furniture, bed linen & towels, crockery & cutlery are all really nice quality. The view from the snug out to the beautiful beck is so mesmerising you barely need the 50 inch smart tv

• "Had a wonderful relaxing stay at Rose Cottage, the place was spotless and beds so comfortable."

  Hosts have gone to great lengths to ensure you have everything you might need . All information was clear from parking, heating and appliances so from arrival to departure it was seamless. For those that don't know Ambleside convenience stores, restaurants and lovely walks are all easily accessible .

• "We recently had the pleasure of staying at Rose Cottage in Ambleside, and it was an experience to remember."

  From the moment we stepped through the door, we were struck by the immaculate condition of the property. It genuinely felt as though we were the very first guests to have the privilege of staying there. The attention to detail in every aspect of the cottage made it feel like a true home away from home. The location of Rose Cottage is absolutely perfect. Nestled in the heart of Ambleside, it provided easy access to the stunning Lake Windermere, picturesque walks, and all the charming local amenities. We couldn’t have asked for a better base to explore the Lake District. Being dog-friendly was a massive bonus for us, and our dog felt right at home. The cottage was equipped with everything we could possibly need, and it was clear that a lot of thought had gone into making it comfortable for both humans and pets alike. The owner was a delight to deal with—warm, welcoming, and incredibly thoughtful. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a delightful goody box containing chocolates, wine, and even treats for our dog. It was a lovely touch that made our stay even more special. As for the views, they were nothing short of spectacular. Waking up to the sight of the surrounding hills and enjoying a morning coffee while soaking in the beauty of the area was one of the highlights of our stay. The tranquillity and natural beauty of the location provided the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. In conclusion, Rose Cottage exceeded our expectations in every way. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, comfortable, and welcoming retreat in Ambleside. We can’t wait to return!

• "Rose Cottage is a fantastic house!"

  The design and quality of the fixtures and furnishings is superb. We stay in Ambleside every year, it's our favourite place for a relaxing family holiday. Rose Cottage is definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It's centrally located so you can walk to restaurants, shops, pubs etc very easily. Although being opposite The Apple Pie Shop was a huge temptation (my sister is obsessed with their Bath Buns)! The owners were very helpful and friendly, and all the information needed for the stay was easy to find. Fantastic cottage, fantastic location, fantastic hosts!

• "A beautiful property in a great spot."

  Everything was to a high standard. Spacious dining kitchen, 2 lovely lounges and allbedrooms and bathrooms were lovely. 2 outdoor seating areas one of which overlooked the river. The owners have put alot of thought into everything. Also a very nice welcome basket on arrival

• "Great accommodation very clean and well equipped, location superb, right in the heart of Ambleside."

• "Excellent house - location, cleanliness, area just everything."

  The only only thing I would say (and would still give 10/10 with this) was the noise from the sinks/toilet - very noisy from 4 bathrooms in the middle of the night

• "What a stunning cottage."

  Fabulous central location. Outstanding facilities. Plenty of space for a large family. Yes it’s close to the road and unloading and loading the car wasn’t possible on the roadside but we just carried our things from the car park. The M6 was closed on Friday so the traffic was extremely busy through Ambleside but that didn’t spoil our stay. We will return!!!

• "We had a lovely stay at Rose Cottage this weekend."

  It is a beautiful cosy cottage and very clean and well presented. We were provided with everything we needed for our break- the fabulous welcome hamper was greatly received and even included goodies for the dogs. We had a maintenance issue with one of the showers unexpectedly leaking, however we were very impressed that despite the heavy downfall of snow this was rapidly fixed as soon as reported and all done whilst we were out on a nice walk. Could not fault the service and quick responses. Look forward to returning again in the future! Thankyou Richard and Saskia for allowing us to stay in your wonderful cottage!

• "Hands down the best holiday cottage we've stayed in."

  Perfect location for all of Amblesides pubs, restaurants & shops plus such a convenient starting point for many lovely walks. Lovely comfortable furnishings & great quality beds & bedding (the only place ever that we shouldn't have bothered bringing our own pillows!) The kitchen was well equipped with everything I needed to cook when we wanted to eat in & enjoy the beautiful accommodation. The snug overlooking the beck is so special, a lovely comfy sofa & super sized telly if you can tear your eyes from the view. There's a brilliant drying room for coats & boots. The parking passes were a real bonus, the car park was just a minutes walk away, but we only used the car once during the week! The welcome pack was much appreciated with lovely coffee & wine - and Heidi loved her milky bones

  The position of the house is perfect as a central location within Ambleside, but we were most impressed by the beautiful decor and furnishings throughout. Everything was brand new, and had a high quality feel. We loved the snug room, and the view from the large window overlooking the river. We loved the property so much that we all agreed we'd like to live there. We are already planning to book again.
