(great weather) Take the steepish path to the side of the building and you are in the heart of Ambleside in a couple of minutes. Highly recommended !

Everything you could wish for. Clean, very well equipped, comfortable beds and fantastic views. Easy short walk down into the town but the path is very steep with a handrail. Parking spaces are provided. A little narrow and would benefit from some slightly wider disabled ones. We had a really lovely stay and will be back

The cottage is spacious and well equipped. We loved every moment in the property and hope to be able to return again at some future date. Even though the weather was mixed nothing spoiled the pleasure of staying in this warm, comfortable and spacious cottage. The selection of books both for reading and about the area of the lakes was excellent.

  • "We lived in Ambleside for many years and the view from our home was also of Todd Cragg & Loughrigg but the view of them from from Rothay 2 is stupendous."

The accommodation was first class, we have never before experienced such a well equipped holiday rental, and we have visited many.It is obviously well loved by the owners. The weather was pure Ambleside but apartment made up for that. Christine B St Marychurch,Devon. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Not for publication please. Info only. The narrowness of the parking spaces gave us some problems as we were sandwiched between two SUVs. We made use of a visitor's parking space when necessary. Unfortunately there wasn't a Parking permit in the apartment, nor a visitors one either - we made up our own. The cleanliness of the apartment was very good indeed though the balcony had not been swept or the patio door wiped around. The two plants had been very neglected. I watered them well but one I think is unlikely to recover. We were able to log on to Prime as a previous visitor had not logged out but perhaps a Sykes could mention that Prime / Netfiks is available but will need personal log on details along with a note to day don't forget to log out.

  • "The property is just as advertised."

The kitchen is very well equipped. It is very nice to have the ability to sit on an outside balcony with a stunning view. The shortest way down to the town centre is a steep slope but their is a rail to hold if needed. The bathrooms are modern . A personal thing I would have liked was a second height position for the lower shower head in the upstairs bathroom and a floor cloth to wipe the balcony furniture with. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would go again. Thank you for the use of your extensive library and local maps.

There is a steep walk down to the town (and even steeper back up!) but even this does not detract from the magnificent vista which awaits one’s return. We loved the property and would come back in a heartbeat!

It is extreamly well equipped and the Dishwasher and smart speaker were very welcome additions. The only comment I would make is that some dim out or black out blinds would be better in the lounge area as the sun shines directly onto the property making it very difficult to see the TV screen. We had a really good two days there and would highly recommend it it you have a car.

  • "The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and well equipped."

However as my husband and I are both getting on in years and my husband has a heart condition, we were anxious to avoid a property with a steep climb up from Ambleside centre. Although there are various routes from the Main Street up to the accommodation they all involve a steep climb, and this very much limited the number of times we could do. It would have been very helpful if this information had been available before booking. Also it was very difficult to see the picture on the TV when the sun was shining in spite of the blinds being drawn.

Well appointed, spacious, clean, comfortable bed, lovely shower. To nit-pick, the Google Home speaker was a nice touch, but it thought it was in Wyram, which meant that weather reports and time/distance to places were completely wrong. Oh, and while the key code to enter the apartment was provided in advance, another code was required in order to enter the building and we had to phone up for this as it was not provided in the booking information.

Thank you for the feedback, hope you enjoyed your stay. This is really useful and we will adjust the booking info. Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
