  • "What a fantastic property."

The Arthouse had everything we needed. It is very well equipped. The beds were really comfortable and the showers were really nice. It is in a great location just a short stroll from the waterfront one way and a 10 minute walk into Ambleside the other. There is also a bus stop nearby and a lovely garden centre.

The Arthouse is a truly unique, four-bedroom holiday home resting just a short stroll from picturesque Waterhead, in Ambleside, which sits at the head of beautiful Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria.

The owner has carefully created a sophisticated and opulent retreat that exudes elegance, yet at the same time provides a warm and welcoming holiday experience from which to explore Ambleside and beyond with friends and family.

Walk into your large and opulent open-plan living space and note the natural light flooding into this magnificent, dual-aspect room.

You are bound to be lured to the expansive glass doors that lead onto your southwest-facing patio with a feature fountain taking centre stage, making it the perfect place to unwind after a busy day of exploring.

Relax on your sumptuous leather sofa and cosy up before your welcoming living flame gas fire, neatly inset and remote controlled, where you can listen to your favourite music or browse the web on your 60” Smart TV.

Discover the kitchen and dining area and admire the chic, white hi-gloss units, granite worktops, high-quality appliances and stunning centre island, all offering plenty of work spaces to prepare a delicious family feast to be enjoyed at the white oak dining table and white leather dining chairs.

You will find a useful utility room off the kitchen with a washing machine and tumble dryer and an additional fridge/freezer for your benefit!

The ground floor is also home to a gleaming shower room, with an impressive rain shower and underfloor heating on this floor making a great way to unwind and refresh after a day of adventure, whilst venturing past the marble-clad wall as you climb the stairs to the first floor you can find the family bathroom offering you a truly indulgent way to end each day with a relaxing soak.

The first floor is also home to four beautifully presented bedrooms, all with Egyptian cotton bedding, high-quality mattresses, cool air fans and their own TVs and DVD players; the master bedroom has a super-king-size bed, set within a double height ceiling featuring an exquisite chandelier, dreamily draped floor to ceiling windows and glass doors lead out to its own patio area, as well as its very own en-suite shower room.

There is a second bedroom with a king-size bed, a third bedroom with a super-king-size bed that can be made as two singles on request and a good-sized single room.

When you can finally tear yourself away from this wondrous base, experience some of the most spectacular and idyllic walks in the Lake District just a stone’s throw away; tour the area by car or by bus, passing by sparkling lakes and driving through dramatic valleys, as you discover the National Park’s towns and villages, each with its own unique character and charm, hosting something for everyone.

Make the short journey to picturesque Waterhead to enjoy a cruise on the beautiful lake, or hire your own boat to explore the lake’s secluded bays on an unforgettable adventure with your loved ones.

Walk into the local town of Ambleside to be met by a bustling centre where you can browse the shops for the perfect gift to take back home, have a meal at one of the excellent restaurants, cafés and pubs, or choose from the latest films on show at the much loved four-screen cinema.

Those seeking a scenic experience will delight to find both the Stagshaw Garden and Holehird Gardens sitting on the shores of Lake Windermere, while those in pursuit of adventure should be sure to try their hand at a new watersport, Bowness being the perfect place to do so!

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants, and pubs in the village to suit all tastes, including the popular eateries of Misto, Sheila's Cottage, and The Lily Bar. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
