"We loved are stay house was lovely and clean area was beautiful."
I just fell in love with the kitchen. I would recommend to anyone and definitely be going back
-
"This apartment is ideally situated in Ambleside, central to the rest of the Lake District with bus station on the same road."
The facilities are very good. A very comfortable bed and great shower. Plenty of very good eateries in Ambleside. We loved our stay at The Bowery. Everywhere inside was spotlessly clean. Will definitely want to stay again.
-
"Lovely accommodation in a fabulous location."
I was nervous about the car parking arrangements, but they are not at all scary. We plan to return.
-
"We love The Bowery and this was our 3rd visit."
However, it is definitely time to renew the scatter cushions on the sofa, as they are totally flat and uncomfortable. Other than that it is always immaculate, with a comfortable bed. Very central for buses, we never use the car during our stay.
-
"Well presented, clean and very central especially for the bus interchange."
Excellent views north with comfy chairs in bedroom. As buses seem to switch off engine as soon as they are parked the noise and pollution is minimal. Easy to walk to lake and good parking behind the shops.
-
"An excellent accommodation, the owners have supplied all you would expect with an extra few bonuses."
You are based centrally in Ambleside with everything within a short walk. The bus stop is right outside the accommodation and gives you the extra benefit of jumping on and off the bus to visit the local area. This is an added bonus as parking your car in the area is very expensive. I will definitely recommend the accommodation to my friends . Thank you for a great holiday.

"Absolutely perfect accommodation could not ask for more"
-
"The Bowery provides clean, neat and well maintained accommodation."
Off road parking is a great advantage as is its busy but convenient location in the heart of Ambleside.
-
"The lack of a washing machine was the only minus point."
-
"This is a lovely apartment and quite well equipped."
Fantastic location and such a bonus to have a parking space. The perfect place for exploring the area. Nice comfy bed and lovely fluffy towels. We will hopefully be back again soon.
-
"Lovely apartment in the heart of Ambleside with the added bonus of a parking space."
Will definitely stay there again.
-
"Stayed at the Bowery several times a lovely apartment can't fault it already booked for 2024"
-
"Lovely apartment in a great location with fantastic views."
Love to visit again.

"We are elderly, and found the shower tray excessively slippery."
Suggest provision of anti-slip mats is absolutely necessary. Crockery provided was all very large with no smaller plates, bowls or mugs; nor sufficient to enable proper use of dishwasher capacity. Microwave is old and has no provision for timing other than whole minutes. We are sure the owners would see the need for various changes if they stayed there for a week themselves.
-
"The photos need updating, especially for the sitting room."
The right hand springs in the sofa have collapsed, I had to put a cushion under the seat. The parking space is very tight. There’s quite a lot of noise from the very busy bus stops opposite the flat. There was a very unpleasant smell in the downstairs lavatory; i had to spray it numerous times. The flat is very conveniently situated for the town and for visiting the area. The views from the flat are good. A coat rack would be very useful.

"Stayed here last year and hope to return next year."
Ideal location. Parking is a bonus. Spotlessly clean. Everything provided to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
-
"Spotless apartment, well equipped, felt very relaxed as soon as we walked ..."
Spotless apartment, well equipped, felt very relaxed as soon as we walked through the door, only small negative for us was the sofa was to soft
-

Ideally located in the centre of Ambleside, with beautiful views. Every detail has been thought through. We hope to return..

"We really enjoyed our stay at the Bowery."
The location is excellent and off street parking was a definite bonus. Very clean and well presented. We would definitely go back. The only change I would make is to add a larger sofa as its nice to put your feet up after a long walk.
-
"The Bowery is a fantastic place to stay in Ambleside, centrally located, clean and comfortable with ample room for two."
It was perfect to return to after a day's walk - cosy and warm with the best shower in the Lakes! We will be back.
-
"The Bowery was a great place to stay."
Ideally situated in Ambleside. On arrival, the car parking is a little restricted but adequate. The apartment is a delight. The decor and design are very well done.It is extremely clean and also very comfortable.Everything you require for your stay is there.A vacuum cleaner and a brush would be a useful addition. My only complaint would be that there was a lot of banging coming from one of the premises underneath during the day. They may have been doing some renovations!I would definitely recommend a stay at The Bowery and would definitely book again.

"The Bowery, is clean , stylish and well equipped."
A very comfortable apartment in the heart of Ambleside. This is a great base to explore the Lake District. Would definitely stay here again .
-
"Lovely apartment has everything you need."
We stayed during Christmas and was lovely as their was a beautiful Christmas tree there when we arrived
-
"This is a lovely appointed apartment in a great location."
We so enjoyed our stay here and just how convenient it was for the town and walking. Would definitely return and highly recommend.
-
"Excellent property stayed here before and will stay again"
-
"Lovely central location, very handy for everything."
Apartment was nicely furnished and had everything for your stay. The balcony was lovely in the afternoon sun. Would be useful to have somewhere to hang wet clothes to dry when coming in from a walk.
-
"A fantastic base to explore Ambleside and surrounding areas with a car parking space, wifi and decent kitchen."
Facilities are fantastic, the balcony is nice to use and my only minor gripe is no bath (which we knew about when booking) which would make it even more ideal after hikes to have a soak :) and the limited wardrobe space. Overall, a fantastic stay, great weather and good food/restaurants in the area and this is our second and most likely not our last visit. In addition, it is above Luigis restaurant which has great food and service however you should book - both are recommended.
-
"We have had a lovely weeks holiday, helped a lot by the glorious weather."
The accommodation was better than we could have hoped for and met our needs. Hopefully, if The Bowery is available, will be visiting again next year.
-
"Had a very good week thanks."
Excellent holiday apartment. The only extra thing I could think of was that it would have been useful to have some coat hooks. A photo of the patio area would also be useful.
-
"Have stayed at the Bowery 3 times now, lovely apartment very handy for the buses we only used the car once."
The only negative is the sofa is not very comfortable.
-
"Superb location and well maintained."
Just the settee lets it down. Its not the one pictured and isnt comfortable at all especially after a long day walking.
-
"A lovely central property in Ambleside."
Very convenient for shops and transport. Even though in centre was pretty quiet. Comfy bed, excellent shower. Reasonably good wifi -dropped out occasionally but able to steam film. Lovely view of fells from bedroom window. Very well equipped kitchen with sharp knives. Would rent again. Would not be suitable for someone who struggles with steps and stairs as metal staircase up to apartment and apartment on 2 levels. Only other minor comment, apartment could do with a new sofa as one there was pretty saggy.
-
"Lovely comfortable place."
.. Really central, which was a bonus, so you don't have to jump in the car all the time! The weather was perfect! Would have been nice to have had some milk to make a drink, Been to lots of places that have provided a small hamper with eggs, biscuits, tea coffee, bread....
-
"This is not the first time at the Bowery Thru have redecorated the living area, looks a lot darker but very nice."
Everything there that you could need. Very clean and warm during our stay and we’re already planning when we can come back
-
"Great property in a great location."
We stayed 4 nights and place was very clean. Best shower ever. Only problem was there wasn’t a washing machine which means we probably wouldn’t go for longer stay in future as we always have walking clothes that need washing on longer breaks. Also the bathroom is a great size and a bath would be a real bonus for a soak after a day of walking. Finally, it is a different couch in property than in photo, now a leather one and not very comfortable for sitting watching TV. Would I go back, absolutely for a 3 or 4 night stay but no longer due to the reasons above
-
"Excellent central location."
Great views of surrounding hills. Well equipped kitchen, superb shower & spacious bathroom. The only negative is the small & uncomfortable sofa (not the one shown in images).
-
"Uncomfortable sofa and worn out chair in place of the one pictured in listing."
Lack of facility to dry/air jackets etc, a clothes horse would be ideal. Otherwise well equipped in good location.
-
"Our second stay at The Bowery & it just as lovely as our first visit in 2019."
Great location in the centre of Ambelside with the bonus of a parking space, spotlessly clean, great linens & a shower to die in at the end of a day on the fells. The downer for us is the price increase for the same week next year 2022 of nearly £200!!…….so sadly this has been our last visit to the Bowery.
-
"Huge bathroom and the best shower - but plenty of room for a bath, which would have been welcome after a day's walking."
-
"Excellent accommodation in a perfect location."
Very clean with everything you could want. Look forward to returning.
-
"Superb property right in the heart of Ambleside."
Well equiped and absolutely spotless. Will definitely stay here again.
-
"Great location."
Kitchen and bathroom are incredible. Everything you need in one place.
-
"Great accommodation, ideally located in Ambleside."
Well looked after, everything you need for self catering. Good quality furniture and fittings, and particularly good linens.
-

About the location
AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
