"This was our second stay in Todd Cragg which is in an ideal residential area and short walk to the town centre."
Generally the accomodation is good. We were disapointed to find that the ensuite toilet blocked and couldn't be used. Also would benefit from blinds at the bathroom and kitchen windows. The Garden could do with being more secure for dogs. We would stay at Todd Crag again in the future.

"Lovely cottage in a beautiful location."
Would highly recommend to family and friends for a perfect time away.
-
"Lovely house in a great location, very quiet and comfortable with good views."
Only improvements would be to either provide hand soap and washing up liquid ( this is the only place we’ve ever stayed that hasn’t provided basics ) or make a list of basic equipment/condiments that visitors need to bring. Also, no recycle bins ( or orange bags as listed in the folder) so brought it all home with us! However it’s a great base for exploring the area.

"Positives: 1."
Very comfortable beds 2. Modern bathrooms 3. Great TV functionality 4. Good WiFi 5. Cosy lounge with the use of the gas fire 6. Great views from the back of the house 7. Great location to Ambleside and Windermere with convenient buses Negatives: 1. No thermostat to increase either the water temperature or central heating. We hunted everywhere! As a consequence the water wasn’t hot enough for a bath which sadly we were looking forward to as we only have a shower at home. 2. Frying pan doesn’t work on the hob….needs an induction hob frying pan. This made cooking more difficult. Could also do with a couple of medium sized saucepans and dishes as well. 3. Very noisy doors into the two bedrooms and the door to the on suite bathroom. 4. It would have been good to have access to the balcony from the lounge…..no keys. Overall we had a lovely time in the bungalow and were thoroughly spoiled by great weather. Thank you.

"We arrived to find no keys in the box, although we were early."
Came back after 4.00 still no keys, came back again early evening still no keys, contacted the Customer Relations who managed to get Keys dropped off around 8.00pm. Got a Reference COR392909-CF advising George will respond to us, still waiting no contact at all. We usually get a welcome pack not there, only two bath towels for a 4 birth cottage. There was a smell in the on suite shower and found the trap immersed in dirt and hair the same as the main bathroom. Images can be supplied if required. We have stayed here on a number of occasions unfortunately this stay was not as good as usual.

"Ideal property for our needs , fantastic location and views."
We shared with another couple and a couple of things would have made the stay even better. As there are new carpets in bedroom /hall , we couldn’t quietly use the toilet without disturbing the other guests as bedrooms are next to each other. Also the en suite bathroom has a couple of issues, the shower tray does not drain correctly , causing it to overflow if more than one shower taken , and the hand basin is quite badly cracked. Overall a great property and would like to return in the future. Great garden for dogs and to enjoy the sunshine .

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Todd Crag, however there were a number of faults and issues that would have improved the property."
In the house we noticed on arrival that the dining room table had several water stains and other marks, and that the grill pan had a lot of bunt on marks which we couldn’t remove. The extractor fan in the en-suite bathroom was not working and the sheet for the queen sized bed was too small. In the garden we found that the steps up to the front and back doors were too high, which made it difficult for older people to gain access. The grass had been nicely mown, a number of bushes and shrubs need cutting back to facilitate easy access through the gates. The paving on the patio is uneven and a trip hazard, also the edge of the patio is unprotected from a shear drop of at least a metre. All these things aside we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in recommending Todd Crag to others.

"Overall we were satisfied with the property particularly the location and the beautiful views."
We were however disappointed with the lack of basic necessities such as washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, paper kitchen rolls, scourers, soap and dusters etc. This would not have been a problem had information been given to us in advance. An issue developed with the ensuite door sticking when fully closed, this got worse as the week went on. The doors to the wardrobe in the hall need some attention as they do not open and close easily. New carpets looked to have been recently fitted in both bedrooms but the bottoms of the doors haven't been shaved which made them a little difficult to open and close. Finally there was no key to the sliding doors to the balcony. We really enjoyed our stay and hopefully you will be able to rectify these relatively minor issues for future guests to fully enjoy their stays.
Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We are glad to hear that you had an enjoyable stay at Todd Crag. We take all feedback on board. We will be looking into the issue raised with the door. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"So 1st time staying here and to be honest my wife read the feedback not me so on arrival to discover there was no welcome pack was disappointing as not even soap to wash your hands after unloading the car and at nearly 5pm who really wants to head to a supermarket for basics?"
? That was my only gripe really the property was clean and tidy and was ideal for the dog with easy access to the rear garden so no drama there. If the owner see’s this the front door rattles in strong wind which is alarming throughout the night and after heavy rain all week the guttering was overflowing so might need sorting! But if your reading this review all I’d say is take everything with you that you need and we’ll definitely be back as it’s an ideal location for all the pubs etc!

"The house was very nice and we hope to return next year."
There are no instructions for the new heating controls and at this time of year late with the cold weather we had last week meant the house could get quite cold during the day. 25 Nov.-2 Dec.

"Great location enjoyed the stay Parking brilliant Bathrooms very good"
-
"A hose would be good to wash dog before entering as happened we brought towels and blankets for floors."
Key for front balcony would be appreciated as would have sat out , especially in the summer. An early key check in would be great. Overall great stay to the point we are coming back on the 18th one of our best stays.
-
"There were no blinds in the bathrooms, and the supplied towels were small."
The property listing stated 2 baths, but these have been replaced - the new bathrooms were very nice but not as per the listing and photographs. The heating instructions in the property manual are incorrect and not for the new system in place. We could not get the heating above 17 degrees on most evenings with the small bedroom being so cold that our children woke up cold at 2am. Not what we wanted for a holiday. Overall, this has the capacity to be a great property but it feels incomplete, there are no additional blankets or pillows, it totally lacks any home comforts. There wasn't even a dishwasher tablet or welcome pack. This lack of finishing touches really let it down.
Thank you for your feedback. We will look at the listing to ensure that it is correct. We will also look at the issue that you experienced with the heating. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"A great house to stay in ."
Everything was at hand. Pity about the toilet .
-
"The property is lovely and in a very quiet area just outside of Ambleside."
It is very spacious and comfortably furnished. Fabulous views from the conservatory at the back of the property .
-
"Had a lovely stay in a great location lovely and clean beds very comfortable , the only thing i would say is the garden and the outside of the property looked like it was in need a a bit of loving care ."

"Todd Crag is a wonderful, comfortable property."
Extremely convenient for access to the fells and walking into Ambleside. . The bed is very comfortable, plenty of hot water , superb lounge with large smart tv. Parking outside the cottage is a bonus as are the local buses to the Langdales and Coniston. This is my 3rd visit this year and I have already booked for September.
-
"Location and overall style of the house are excellent ."
A few points make it 4 stars rather than 5 for us : a larger rug and a seat in the hall would work better for walking boot users; there needs to be another small saucepan in the kitchen and some specific instructions should be available for the TV. Notwithstanding these points, would definitely stay again - we are returning visitors already !

"We have stayed in Todd Crag before."
New beds are an improvement but the property still feels in need of TLC. The garden is sadly quite neglected. Our last 2 days were ruined by the smoke alarms beeping intermittently during our last 2 nights. Although Heart of the Lakes attended after the first night the problem was not resolved. Interestingly this problem has been reported before on other reviews yet it is still happening.

"The garden is very over grown with weeds and bushes and lets the property down big style."
The pathways are restricted due to the over grown vegetation in some areas dangerous because you can’t see where you are going. The so called gardener must cut the lawns but throws the cuttings in the boarders. Even one of the neighbours mentioned the jungle. There also a number a places with broken fencing where a dog could escape so for a dog friendly listing that could do with being sorted. Very disappointing. Otherwise be prepared for steep roads when walking to the property from town. Otherwise a great little property in a very nice quiet area with the occasional Deer in the neighbours gardens. Plenty of hot water and water pressure to die for. Facilities score is poor because if the gardens

"Lovely comfortable cottage with beautiful views."
Would definitely recommend.

"Nice property just needs some personal touches that makes the holiday maker feel home"
-
"Excellent accommodation would stay again"
-
"All fine. Convenient location, easy parking and good facilities."
Garage good for bikes. Warming gas fire in lounge. Good TV - you can connect to your own services like netflix but remember to log out afterwards. 2nd time here, no problems. --- Minor points. Garage door a bit sticky and needs a service. Would be good if you left basics like hand soap in the kitchen and bathrooms. Every time have to buy 4 bars of soap and leave them barely used at the end of the stay. Welcome pack is good but only 3 dishwasher tabs means you have to buy locally and Tesco only sell large minimum pack sizes. Remember to bring some basics with you but that applies to all rentals.
-
"Great bungalow, has plenty of space and views to the fells are awesome!"
Set in a very peaceful location too. Bungalow is in good condition and well equipped for our holiday, the only gripe is lack of teaspoons and a bin for recycling, when on holiday you don't wish to be looking for a recycling centre. Well recommended
-
"A nicely equipped property in a good position with a spacious garden and good parking."
-
"Disappointed not as described or as shown in the photos."
Newish kitchen and bathrooms but the rest of the fixtures and fittings are worn out and in need of replacement / refurbishment. A Good point, walkable distance to the town and the property has its own large car parking space.
-
"Cottage comfortable and clean lights didn’t work in lounge would be helpful to have spare bulbs."
Garden very messy abit of a tidy sweep up would be nice.probably would book again p saxton Sheffield
-
"Property was cold, radiators badly need bleeding."
There was a gas fire but no instructions for use and no idea if it worked or not. Free view crashed twice for 3-4 hrs each time. Smoke alarm needs attention as keep making a noise.
-
"Todd crag, was a decent size property, lovely location, just lots of issues, for example the smoke alarms beeps four or five times a night, because they are on a chain they all beep at once, lights don’t work lounge, main bedroom!"
Nice kitchen ,couldn’t find a switch for the cooker hood maybe it’s automatic, never came on!lack of cleaning products if you’d have spilt anything luckily we didn’t.no visitor book either! For saying it’s a four star property,I’m afraid it’s no where near especially when you pay £1400 for a week.we’re not newcomers to renting ,or the lakes must be thirty odd properties under our belt !

"Things in the house were not up to standard failure in some aspects of the property."
Mr Newton has already listed the faults of the property

"We enjoyed a very pleasant couple of weeks staying in Todd Crag."
The house itself is spacious with a nice kitchen, good quality bathrooms and quite a large garden. Access to a garage is very helpful as we needed to store bikes and the drive was plenty big enough for two large cars. If I was being picky I would say that more pans were needed in the kitchen, one big one and two small ones is not great for cooking for a family of four. A couple of medium sized pans would be very helpful. Some of the bushes in the garden could do with a good trip too as various sets of steps are getting a bit over grown. In summary Todd Crag is a nice cottage and I would happily stay there again.
-
"Lovely spacious house, very convenient walk to Ambleside town."
The views are just incredible from the house and there was a lovely sitting spot to enjoy a glass of something whilst enjoying the view. The house has newly renovated bathrooms and kitchen and everything we needed with the added bonus of it being dog friendly. Thankyou for a lovely place to stay!
-
"Beautifully located on a hill and helpful to have parking in front of the house."
Slightly confusing bin emptying instructions and why no on-site recycling bin? We had to go down the hill with a bag of recycling to the recycling area at the bottom of the hill. Also couldn’t locate hairdryer and could’ve done with more coffee mugs and air fresheners in bathrooms. Modern appliances but smallish kitchen dustbin mounted in door. Little information on local sightseeing and places to eat a bit disappointing. Overall a pleasant stay.

"The cottage is in a beautiful position and the views are great."
Unfortunately the en-suite bathroom smelled of damp and it was difficult to get rid of the smell. Blinds or curtains are required at a number of windows and some of the furniture has seen better days. The garden is beautiful and it was such a great week of weather that we spent a lot of time outside.
