  • "Lovely place to stay and ideally situated for Ambleside."

Ideal for our dog. Was very clean. Only downside is the bathroom floor was very cold, and we couldn't get the towel rail to work. We were worried about its location, but it was very quiet and would love to go back.

  • "Great property at the centre of Ambleside."

Very close to everything you would want. Great facilities. Only down side is there was no coffee, tea, sugar, toilet roll or even washing up liquid to do the dishes. Especially for shorter stays this would have been very helpful

  • "We had a pleasant enough stay here at Tower Lodge."

Location was 5 min flat walk into the town of Ambleside. Sadly we struggled with the noise from the traffic our little dog didn’t do well with that.

  • "Lovely property, really enjoyed our stay."

As with others, we feel heating in living area not always adequate for size of room when weather more chilly. Corner seating unit quite deep, therefore not always comfortable. An individual chair would make all the difference. Beautiful bedroom with more than adequate wardrobes and very comfortable bed. A grab rail at the front door would make all the difference to those with mobility issues.

Thank you for your feedback and we are happy you had such a good time. Regarding the heating there are 2 radiators in the living room, a 1800w & a 1000W which is excess for the size of the area. The radiators have sensors built in and are on a set program to turn on and off depending on the temperature inside. Guests can also access the controls of the heating directly using the touch screen control panel on each radiator. However, to make thing easier for guests we have now installed a Google home device in the property and guests can now control the heating by simply asking google to "Turn on the heating" as well as other more specific commands (instructions can be found inside the property). The comfort of the sofa will depend on each individual's preference but I take onboard your comments about an individual chair and will look into this further. Also we appreciate your comment regarding the grab rail at the front door and will also look into this further. It was a pleasure having you stay and thanks again for your feedback. Property Owner

  • "Tower Lodge was in a great location, perfect for exploring Ambleside and Windermere, the parking spot was brilliant too."

The accommodation itself was modern, clean and bright, however we did have a few problems. The accommodation was very cold and we had no access to the heating controls, there was also condensation all over the inside of the windows each morning. Although the accommodation was nice and clean, we were only left with 1 partially used toilet roll and no cloths or sponge for cleaning the dishes. Other than this, we enjoyed our stay and loved the location.

  • "This wonderful flat is ideally located in Ambleside with easy access to the village centre and the lake."

The flat is beautiful and tastefully decorated throughout . Extremely comfortable and clean. There was a slight problem with the heating when we arrived so we contacted the owner, Helen, who quickly responded and sorted the heating for us. The problem had apparently been caused by the previous guest messing about with the controls.

  • "Heating not working properly, hall radiator broken all week."

Oven didn’t heat up. Radiators/Towel rail not sufficient to heat certain parts of house (kitchen, bathroom) Windowsills soaking every morning, windows not sufficiently keeping heat in. House damp. Clothes felt damp coming out of wardrobe because it’s against external wall. To be honest not happy and looking to make a complaint.

Really sorry to read these comments, especially after we had such regular communication giving you plenty of opportunity to report any issues directly to us. The heating was and still is working fine but the radiator in the hallway did stop during your visit and we quickly came round to address it and a mobile heater was also provided. We have also checked the oven which is fully working so this could only be due to user error. The towel rail isn't intended to heat a room and is functioning well to warm up towels and small clothing items. During your stay was a particularly cold spell with arctic air coming down over the UK. As the heating was on full and with the cold air outside this inevitable will result in condensation. The wardrobes are on an external wall but I can't see how this would be a cause for clothing to become damp while being hung inside. We have never experienced this issue and no other guests have reported it to us but we will look into it.   Again we are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your stay but we thank you for your feedback and will look at where we can improve. Kind regards and best wishes. Property Owner

  • "The location and apartment in general were fantastic."

Our only bug bear was the bed and sofa were very hard and uncomfortable. The back of the sofa doesn’t even stay upright or support you while sat, which after a full day walking was a little disappointing. Otherwise, we would definitely stay here again, as it has everything you need and is centrally positioned.

  • "Just returned from a fantastic stay at tower lodge."

Absolutely fantastic location was able to enjoy all of Windermere and Ambleside without moving the car which was a god send considering how busy the Lakes were as many people said it was the busiest it’s ever been. What I would say is the pictures don’t do it justice I was concerned it looked small on the pictures. Every room was several times bigger than was expected from the pictures and done to nice standard.

  • "We have checked out and left a day early due to the excessive road noise."

It’s mentioned in the description as some road noise but it was excessive during our stay. Bed was also uncomfortable, that compounded by the road noise made it not as relaxing as we’d have hoped, so we have decided to move on. Flat is reasonably laid out and is adequate for a walking break (which is what we came for). In our joining instructions it indicated there would be two sets of keys in the key safe, there was only one set.

Thank you for you feedback. We were sorry to hear about the issues during your stay at Tower Lodge. It is stated in the description when booking there may be some noise and this can depend on the time of year, as well as what day it is. We are glad to hear it was suitable for your walking break and hope you enjoyed some of the beautiful walks the Lakes has to offer. The site was updated recently to explain there is only 1 key in the lock box for guests. The 2nd key is kept separate for emergencies. Property Owner

Set within a characteristic stone-built building and boasting a homely interior, Tower Lodge offers a romantic setting for your next escape to The Lakes.

An off-road parking space greets you upon arrival to this lovely dwelling, leading you over the threshold and into a handy hallway space, perfect for kicking off your muddy boots and storing your walking gear away from the main living areas.

Put your feet up and unwind with a cup of tea as you settle down on the sumptuous corner sofa, enveloped in the stunning natural light that floods the room through the towering windows, framing magnificent views of the rolling fells in the near distance.

Venture into the adjoining kitchen, beautifully-appointed with a contemporary interior, and perch at the sociable breakfast bar to indulge in a refreshing glass of wine as the budding chef prepares a romantic meal for two, heading back through to the living/dining room to serve at the intimate dining table.

As the day draws to a close, retire to the delightful double bedroom to end your evening cosied up with your significant other, watching your favourite film from the comfort of the covers before drifting off to a nights embrace.

In the morning, kickstart your day with a revitalizing rinse in the stylish shower room before heading out on an adventure.

Get better acquainted with your surroundings and take the short stroll into the centre of Ambleside where you'll find a host of amenities to assist with your self-catering needs; enjoy a bite to eat at one of the fabulous eateries that line the streets, with the choice between delicious takeaways, quintessentially English country pubs and quaint tea rooms to name a few.

Discover the cultural heritage of the Lake District on display at Armitt Library & Museum Centre, catch a spot of live music or an independent film at Zeffirellis, or marvel at the cascading waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force as it tumbles 70ft.

There's a host of walking, cycling and hiking routes suitable for a variety of abilities available from your doorstep, with the trail leading to the summit of Wansfell Pike beginning in the town, or if you venture further afield, avid outdoor adventurers can tackle the challenging climb to the top of Scafell Pike, the tallest mountain in England.

No trip to the Lake District would be complete without a visit to England's largest lake, Lake Windermere, where you can soak in the tranquil waters aboard a cruise, stopping at the bustling tourist town of Bowness-on-Windermere for a spot of sightseeing, or thrill-seekers can spend a fun-filled day canoeing or paddleboarding with a visit to Low Wood Bay Watersports.

Treat your significant other to a staycation they'll never forget with a stay at Tower Lodge.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
