"Irritating that remote control for main TV has disappeared so limited functionality."
Less well equipped than on previous visits (shortage of cutlery, limited and mismatched glasses, fewer mugs and some with cracks, no kitchen scissors). Dishwasher is defective - top shelf cannot be used. No filter papers for coffee machine. Great place to stay but these issues need sorting

"Lovely apartment inside."
Don't be put off by the exterior. Great location. Bed comfy, nice outdoor area although a little tired. Lovely backdrop of the mountains when sat down as can't see the car park or road, a little road noise but lovely little suntrap for afternoon/evening drinks. Would definitely stay there again. All you need for self catering get away.

"A great location although the road is busy and the passing traffic can be heard all hours."
The decor is dated and the place needed a upgrade of paint, deep clean, sorting of cupboards and dusting of the surfaces/blinds. The towels were worn. There is no recycling for guest which can mean more environmental waste. The views from the roof terrace are nice. I think with a bit of attention to this feedback the customers would have a quality stay.

"Great flat and ideally situated on the edge of the town."
We had lovely weather when we were there so the patio could of done with a scrub. Great that tea bags supplied but folder did state coffee and bottled water so maybe needs updating. Great that cleaning items and dishwasher tablets supplied. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

"Our second stay and we loved it."
The open views through the windows and veranda make this property a special location.

"A comfortable well appointed apartment in a very convenient location just a short stroll from the centre of Ambleside."
The open plan living area is well laid out and well lit with big windows, and the heating system is very efficient. The parking was beside the building and easy to access. We’ve stayed here several times and have already booked to return

"I have just read a feed back dated 23 thJuly which is almost word for word that I am listing The outside is scruffy and dirty around the entrance, The hall was not clean and there was rubbish on the windowsill."
The staircase has no banister railing which may well be illegal The store cupboard was untidy so had to be rearranged to access the washing and drying equipment . The vacuum cleaner was is heavy we couldn’t use it ! The shower head in the bathroom needs attention and the shower curtain was not clean The veranda needed sweeping ( which we did before we used it ) again it needs a lick of paint . The top of the wall was covered in cherry stones !! some light bulbs required changing particular the central one over the dining table. The crockery was very nice but not enough, which meant that we were not using the dishwasher most of the time. These problems stop this being a lovely apartment . With regard to the parking , the information stated 2 places but informed that we had to pay for parking !! I shall be taking this up by telephone on Monday next .
Thank you for your feedback. Lakelovers are contracted to clean the flat and we have fed back the fact the hall was not not clean and store cupboard untidy The flat has been fitted with a new front door. As the entrance is partially enclosed it traps leaves and litter. We have asked Lakelovers to clean this area as well We will check the information in the advert as should currently state there is one parking space Property Owner

"We have just come back from a 2 night stay in Windows."
On the whole it has the potential to be a lovely apartment but we felt it let itself down on a few issues. The 'storeroom' was a real mess. Considering it is for use by residents if you want to use the washing machine etc., it was dirty and disorganised. The outside areas, ie. the entrance porch and the balcony were shabby, and should have been at least swept. The exterior could do with a lick of paint, too. There were two dedicated parking spots for Windows residents, according to the guest info and the notice on the wall, but someone else was using one of them, we think from the accommodation next door. We think a stair rail/bannister would be beneficial for the first staircase. We thought the step down from the twin room should be highlighted in some way, perhaps some yellow tape on the edge. The guest info should be rationalised and updated. We have used Skyes Cottages and similar for years, so we have lots to compare it with, and this is the first time we have felt compelled to comment. Finally, we knew it was on a busy road, but we didn't expect it to be quite so noisy. Another layer of glazing would make a big difference. Overall, we don't think it was value for money.
Thank you for your comments. We are sorry to hear of the issues that you experienced during your stay, and we take your comments on board. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"The Windows apartment; absolutely blew us away!"
This apartment is truly first class. The entrance hall was perfect and very welcoming; so handy following a day out; we utilised the very useful coat hooks and radiators to dry our wet coats, scarves and gloves following rainy days in the beautiful surroundings. Up the stairs and into the gorgeous naturally lit open planned living area; the photos really don't do it justice. You really appreciate why the apartment is called Windows. The huge windows flood the entire space with natural light and beautiful Lakeland views (gorgeous views of the fells); if you haven't visited the lakes before; Lakeland views doesn't always mean views of lakes; it encompasses the entire lake district vista of fells, countryside and sometimes lakes. We were suitably impressed with the décor and facilities on offer; both bedrooms were en-suite and of decent size; we were particularly impressed with the size of the master bedroom and great use of space in the second bedroom to allow for twin beds. The kitchen was well equipped and we thought that the cleaning pack was a nice touch too. Additionally, we felt that the storage cupboard at the top of the stairs was a great use of space for the cleaning appliances. Although we weren't in the lakes for the tv; we felt that the number of tv's in the apartment would certainly keep a family entertained (easy to use Freeview and no problems accessing any channels) in addition to the games console and we thought it was an excellent choice to include a digital radio (we stay in many holiday cottages and this is sometimes overlooked). The apartment is located in a great position; with the handy car parking spaces and on one of the main routes into Ambleside; yes you do get a bit of traffic noise; but this should not put you off staying here; it is comparable with staying in the town centre on one main roads. Only a 5 minute stroll into the centre of Ambleside which is a bonus. To use a cliché, we will certainly be returning to Windows in the near future, we cannot wait to visit this apartment again and feel that it will be our go to holiday stop in Ambleside (we have stayed in other properties in the area previously and this one wins hands down).

"Overall we really liked Windows accommodation."
The apartment was flooded with natural light, a real plus.It was ideally situated, a short walk between the village centre and Waterhead . Unfortunately it did not have “ fabulous Lakeland views” as stated on the details. We expected ,perhaps wrongly, views of the lake. This perhaps is misleading. It was not, sadly, a peaceful location. We would definitely not want to be there in the hight of season as it would be off putting to use the balcony. On technical issues, the hob was very difficult to use and the tv seemed to be stuck on one channel! We got excited at the thought of a jacuzzi bath but this was not working

"Excellent property, very well equipped, light and comfortable."
Well situated for exploring Ambleside and other lakes. Only one small negative was the entrance to the flat, dirty not inviting to what else was a vèry good holiday let.
Apolgies for this-we will make sure it doesn't happen again Property Owner

"There was a travel cot which was not on the listing which would have saved us bringing ours which, not a huge problem but worth noting."
There is a high chair on the listing so we didn't take ours but the one in the property is absolutely filthy. Not appealing at all. Other than that quality property and a great base for us.
We will get the high chair replaced-thank you Property Owner

"Booked last minute after being let down by another company two days before we were due to go."
Staff were extremely helpful during the booking process. The property was ideal, good location, upstairs balcony was a bonus, but could have done with a bit of a clean. The front door was very dirty not giving a good first impression it was also difficult to open. The kitchen was small though well equipped. Couldn’t get the TV’s in the lounge or bedroom to work, poor signal though the bathroom and twin rooms were fine. The over bath shower wouldn’t stay in the holder so couldn’t use it. Despite these small issues we would definitely use Sykes again and return to this property.
Thanks for the feedback. We will make sort out the issues you have flagged up Property Owner

"This is our second visit to Windows and I am sure we will return."
The property is well equipped and apart from the twin room, which is a little small, is very spacious. It is in a convenient location for both the lake and the centre of Ambleside, and the parking is suitable for any size of vehicle. It is on the main road through Ambleside, so there is traffic noise which may disturb a light sleeper and obviously there are a lot of steps. Unfortunately on this visit the oven and microwave had not been cleaned, but this must have been an oversight as we have always found Lakelovers properties very clean.

"Very good location and the apartment is comfortable and well equipped."
This is our third visit here.

"On are arrival at windows when we opened the front door we were over come by a awful musty smell."
When we went upto the main bedroom once again there was this over powering musty smell. I would like to highlight the couch was also wearing away with scratches and marks over it also the wall paper in the living room was pealing off the wall . Mostly it was the over powering smell in the bedroom which wasn't very nice at all. I think it needs either cleaning or removing and lamment flooring put down which would be easy to clean. Also there was no shelf in the first floor shower so you could put your soap on.

"Generally a fab holiday and appartment."
The location was faultless and we loved the bright, airy space inside. A couple of minor grumbles prevented a 5 * review. Firstly, the sofa was not comfortable; the wooden seat and back boards were really awkward to sit on and eventually gave me a back ache. Secondly, the dishwasher wasn't working properly; almost every wash came out covered in dried on food, especially the glassware. Overall, the holiday was great and we would seriously consider Windows as our accommodationin the future.

"Very comfortable accommodation - would definitely revisit"

"This is a very lovely place have stayed here twice now."
Would recommend it to anyone. Plenty to do only went out in the car once.

"We chose the apartment because of its location between the lake and town, however the noise from people walking past late at night combined with traffic noise did disturb our sleep."
Added to this the twin room has a room from the adjoining property above it and there was considerable noise from this early each morning. The terrace was a real feature of our stay and we enjoyed eating out there with the stunning views. The fans provided were appreciated although we could not get the ceiling fan to work in the living area. Perhaps a decent illuminated and heated mirror along with a shelf and some hooks would have been a better addition to the bathroom than a tv? Parking space beside apartment was useful although there was another car parked in it throughout our stay forcing us to have to park sticking out into the car park at times and a second car would not have been possible. A bit of an update is needed, the instructions about location of key safe were incorrect and the exterior of the entrance is very shabby, perhaps at least the cobwebs could be cleaned off the doorway? Fortunately the inside was more welcoming, it was clean and well presented. A restock of glasses and more up to date TV and speaker would have been appreciated.

Location fantastic. So many thoughtful extras included. Parking, great bonus. Beds were SO comfortable. Thank you, we will definitely return to the area.

AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
