  • "We’ve just spent a lovely week staying at The Coach House."

Checking in and contact with the owners was very easy. The property itself was spotlessly clean, warm and welcoming. We like to cook for ourselves and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. It was nice to find the owners had left a welcome pack of milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which was very much appreciated. The property is very well positioned to do lots of local walks and we also had a visit to Heysham. A big thank you to Mr and Mrs Barker, we loved it.

  • "Had a great two weeks stay here."

The good weather helped but the location meant we were easily able to get out and about (mainly on foot). There are plenty of things to do as well within a short drive (nature reserves, etc.). Although up the hill from the main centre of the village nothing was too far to walk and the local Nisa shop was well-stocked with Booths only a ten-minute drive away in Milnthorpe. Lots of walks of varying degrees (incl Arnside Knott and the tower) and a train station a ten-minute walk away if you don't want to drive. The location was also very quiet (whereas other places in Arnside we have stayed were less so) with plenty of wildlife visting the garden/patio area to the rear. If it wasn't for the fact that we're moving to Cumbria permanently in the next couple of months this would be our go-to property to stay in this area. It's certainly better value for money than equivalent properties in somewhere like Ambleside and a lot more peaceful. Couldn't really fault it in any way.

The Coach House was exactly what we were looking for in a beautiful, peaceful part of the world. The property is so comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. It's spacious, bright, airy and very welcoming, there was even a lovely welcome pack of essentials and biscuits, we can't thank Susan enough. It's just a short 10 minute walk down to the promenade or uphill to the Knott in 20 minutes or so, as well as being a 15 minute drive to the RSPB at Leighton Moss which was beyond brilliant. Tip - Pizza and beer (especially the Lancaster Blonde) at Crossfields is exceptional

Only down side is the sky light windows. Everyone wants them for giving extra light but if it’s raining they can be really noisy. We were unlucky with the weather. Hence how we know they can be really noisy. Also the only other thing we found was when driving onto the main road it’s hard to see what’s coming down from your right side. This didn’t stop us from enjoying our stay there.

It's cosy, clean and very comfortable. The amenities are excellent, equipment too. It's in a great location with delightful walks, some possible from the Coach House itself. The village of Arnside is a 5 minute stroll away. The area is unspoilt and feels remote despite its proximity to the M6. The owner is very helpful.

Arnside is a great location: nice walks direct from the cottage, great cafes and pubs by the estuary, and it was fascinating to watch the tidal bore. The cottage was perfectly comfortable and clean. The kitchen is well stocked. One tiny improvement would be to provide a hand whisk (but we just used a fork).

The house was so clean it all seemed like new. It is very well equipped with nice touches such as books on the local walks of which there are many. The bed was very comfy and the house is quiet being set back from the road and well built. Even in a hot week in June Arnside was lovely and quiet. The only queue was Saturday night at the popular Fish & Ships shop just at the end of the Promenade which is recommended! In terms of trips out Leven's Hall is reasonably close by with the house proving to be very interesting as well as the well known gardens. Levens Kitchens which serves food all day is run by some talented chefs. They have very interesting and unusual cakes and can be visited without having to pay to visit the house & garden if you are just passing by.

We arrived to a sparkling clean house and it was warm and cosy throughout a week that saw freezing temperatures outside. The kitchen was very well equipped for preparing cooked meals. The warm hallway was also ideal for drying our wet coats and boots. We rarely used our car as we did local walks from the house or walked to the train station (less than 15 minutes) to do the 5 minute train ride to Silverdale station to walk from there. There were useful walking books provided at the Coach House. Communication with the owners was perfect. In summary, we had a wonderful, relaxing stay.

Ample off-road parking greets you on the gravel driveway at the front of the property, perfect for guests wanting to forget about the car and head off to explore the sights on foot.

Stepping into the cottage you're welcomed into a small vestibule, providing a handy space to store muddy boots after the day’s adventure, featuring an adjoining boiler room housing a convenient washing machine to freshen up your walking gear.

Continue through to the sitting area, beautifully-appointed with light and airy décor, and featuring traditional wooden furnishings, encouraging a cosy and inviting atmosphere.

Nestle in around the television on the rustic leather sofa for a well-deserved rest, heating the room with the warmth of the living flame gas fire in the cooler evenings.

The open-plan kitchen/diner also boasts a traditional décor, with a remarkable exposed stone feature wall and contrasting wooden kitchen cupboards, fit with all of the amenities necessary to prepare a heart-warming meal for the family to enjoy gathered around the dining table.

As the evening grows darker, head upstairs where you have the choice of two bedrooms, a king-size or a twin, both decorated with a neutral colour scheme and sustaining the property's delightful traditional character through the wooden furnishings.

Completing the first floor is the newly renovated family bathroom, contemporary in design with gleaming silver accents and featuring a bath with an overhead shower, giving you the choice of enjoying a leisurely soak or washing away the day.
