  • "Unfortunately a lot of traffic on the road behind the cottage."

Its very loud, also inside despite of the 3 layers of glass in the windows. It was very noisy but we expected that because it is said on the website. But it is more then we expected. The owner cannot change the traffic. Btw, very kind owner. Because we were gone almost every day it was a very nice cottage to come to after a busy day. Clean, modern, and all you could possibly need, its there!

  • "This one level property was perfect for my wife , who has early onset Alzheimer’s."

I would have not necessarily chosen this location but the facilities of the house were perfect . Really comfortable double bed , excellent shower and modern facilities . Our only issue was the tv , where you can watch live TV but through an app , which you need to know . For half of the week the tv kept crashing out and losing the internet . Second half it behaved perfectly ! Personally think the tv could usefully have some operating instructions with it , as could the hob.

Family of 4 and was the perfect location for us to explore. The fire was amazing to warm us up too. Highly recommend, thankyou.

  • "Fantastic and comfortable place to stay."

Will defiantly stay no hesitation. Only criticism I have is that channels available on the TV are not very good for evenings and there was no welcome pack or instructions for laundry and rubbish at the end of the stay. Felt a bit guilty when we left as we had to leave a tidy pile of recycling due to no instructions left by owner. Other than that we will defiantly be back.

Hi Graham I have just seen your feedback, I emailed you on the 24th September, with all of the instructions for the house, wifi, re-cycling and tv applications on fire stick. I used the email that you left on Sykes, no problem anyway glad you had a great time and see you next time. Regards Darren Property Owner

  • "This was our first time staying in a flat as we are used to staying in 4 or 5 star hotels during our holidays."

Just wanted to say we enjoyed every bit of our stay . The flat is very modern, super comfortable and the owner thought of smallest of things one could need e.g extra batteries, good quality utensils etc and it's a very neat and clean property. In short, the accommodation you would like to come back to after a exhausting day. Also, the owner was prompt in replying to any of my queries. Would definitely come back soon.

  • "We have just returned from a stay at Dolly Blue."

The apartment is well set up, with all modern cons. We parked right outside every day, no problems. The apartment backs onto a busy main road, the noise is faint. The location is good for local attractions, steam train, zoo, aquarium and not too far from Bowness/Windermere.

  • "The cottage was wonderful, modern and very clean."

The sofa was a tad uncomfortable but this is down to just wear and tear. We chose the hottest week of the year so far and found the cottage to be uncomfortably warm even though 2 fans were supplied. There was no welcome pack with instructions for operating the TV, (Only able to get BBC1 and 2), Broadband, Oven etc nor indeed instruction for laundry and rubbish at the end of our stay. Would we return? Definitely.........but in the cooler months

  • "Our family of 4 stayed here in late May and absolutely loved this little home from home."

Cottage is really well equipped and cleaned to a high standard. Great location for all the attractions, parking is not a problem, as we easily got parked outside the property every day. There is some road noise as cottage is situated near a busy road but that never bothered us. We’d have no hesitation in returning to this property.

The property was very clean, well equipped, really spacious and all felt very new and homely. Can't recommend highly enough. Very easy access to Hawkshead, Windermere, Coniston by car.

  • "Very comfortable, clean and contemporary (with some rustic features) property."

Superbly situated to travel around. Darren has been very helpful in his suggestions around the area. Despite being off the highway, you can barely hear any traffic noise! If you are looking for a sit-out area in the property, then this is not the place. There is a distinct smell in the bathroom at all times - this needs looking into. All in all, we had an amazing time!

  • "Just sat on our last day here."

The cottage is lovely. All amenities you need including lot of little unexpected extras (I.e. towels, kitchen /toilet rolls, washing liquid, etc etc). Kitchen has all your needs, beds are comfy and places is spotless. Close to everywhere we wanted to go to. Quite close to a main road but can’t say that was an issue. Will definitely book again.

  • "Well where can I start?"

Upon arrival to the dolly blue stores we were absolutely taken back by the beautiful surroundings. When we entered the property our jaws dropped. Stunning. Everything is brand new and just stunning. The owner was very friendly and accommodating, he brought us the high chair and travel cot for our youngest and even gave us some recommendations for travel as we aren't drivers which helped out massively. We were a little bit on edge about the trip due to our daughter being autistic and often no liking unfamiliar surroundings but the apartment is that homely even she did not want to leave. We are already planning our next trip back to the dolly blue stores. Cannot thank the host enough for this beautiful place. Can't wait to return!

Lovely, spacious open plan main area. Fabulous shower! Really appreciated the kitchen extras like tinfoil, cling film and washing up liquid etc. And thank you for dropping in oven gloves. Would respectfully suggest a microwave as a useful addition plus pure cotton bedding for a more comfortable night. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Hi There is now a microwave supplied. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Regards Darren Property Owner

  • "We (myself, my husband and two boys) stayed at the Dolly Blue Stores for four nights (February 2022) and we could not have been any happier with our stay."

Darren emailed in the morning to say the apartment was ready for us if we wanted to come earlier, however we arrived in the late afternoon as it is a very long drive from home, but appreciated the sentiment. Darren's communication was great, and provided us with all the information we needed, even recommending what we could do when the weather was not so great! We were able to park right outside (and did so every day with no trouble at all). We were very pleased that the photos matched the reality - the apartment was immaculate! The decor is contemporary, fresh and everything has a new feel. Our bed was very comfortable, and our boys tell us the bunk beds were also. The sofa was also so nice to collapse on at the end of a busy day! We spent our days around the stunning Lake Windermere, for which the apartment is very well placed for, being right at the foot. We would highly recommend Darren & the Dolly Blue Stores, and would love to return again in the future. Thank you.

This is in a good location for a quick river walk and also the car museum has a lovely Cafe for breakfast in the morning which is a 5 min walk away and Ulverston is just a short drive down the road if you require more shops. There is plenty of walking routes in the surrounding area to and a steam train which takes you to Windermere. Highly Recommended.

  • "The owner of the property accepted our booking very last minute when we had an extended power cut at our previous property."

Dolly Blue Stores was fantastic- so modern, spacious and extremely clean. The living room is so cosy with an amazing log burner. Kitchen has everything you’d need and bathroom had brilliant shower. Myself and my husband, her daughter and husband stayed and although one room had bunk beds they were extremely comfortable so would be suitable for 4 adult stay. One thing to note is the property is just off a busy main road and some traffic can be heard but for us this didn’t bother us. Thank you so much and we would definitely book again :-)
