  • "An absolutely beautiful cottage."

So clean and cozy. The beds were super comfy, the open fire was wonderful and the surrounding area was gorgeous. A little haven of peace. The owners were so helpful and friendly. I could not recommend this cottage enough

Its close to the lakes, we visited twice. Windermere is fabulous. Property was clean, warm and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Rural location with plenty close by to keep you busy, weather permitting. We would be happy to stay again.

was not keen on the narrow roads getting to the cottage but got the hang of them eventually the rooms were quite airy and clean the cooking utensil's were a bit well used and could have done with more pans and baking trays for the oven the shower head's could have done with replacing as they were rusty and had lime scale on them but other than those few thing our stay was fantastic and would recommend and stay again in the future there are many places within the area to go and see and things for all kinds of families from young to the elderly

  • "Was hard to stop the living room filling up of smoke from the log burner, unsure if the chimney needs attended too/cleaned out or why the smoke was so bad, in the end we had to refrain from using the fire."

Boiler made loud banging noises (which we were advised of before our arrival), however this was not very relaxing at it was so frequent and loud.

Reassuring to know that the owners were on hand to sort out any problems quickly and efficiently. We were 3 ladies wanting somewhere we could relax and catch up with each others busy lives and we were able to do just that in comfort at Beckside. Your phone call Angie was very much appreciated.

We wanted a firework free weekend for our Dog and it was just perfect. We went to Kirby Lonsdale during the day picked up supplies from Booths only a couple of mile away. Secluded but with a few cottages around you didn’t feel isolated. Perfect for a weekend away from it all

During the excessive heat wave the cottage was so cool. We had a very relaxing stay with lovely walks starting from the cottage. The owners were very welcoming and charming. The little town of Kirkby Lonsdale was a delight, Booths a shopping experience not to be missed for its wonderful produce. We will definitely be back, next time armed with bird food as we could hear the beautiful birdsong but could not see them. A lovely break!.

  • "Beckside cottage, a traditional building that is actually semi-detached (this does not cause any issues) sits within a pretty garden which is full of birds, while the beck below heads into the River Lune which is visible from the cottage."

The beautiful countryside of Cumbria surrounds it. The private parking area is ample and the garden is safe and secure for dogs. The cottage is cosy and warm mainly because of the fabulous thick walls and has everything you could need for your stay. The lounge with its log burner is extremely comfortable for relaxing in after days out walking. The three bedrooms are comfortable and very attractive. The cottage WiFi is very reliable. It is perfectly positioned to visit all the surrounding places of interest, and of course the ample walking opportunities.

  • "Our holiday, staying in Beckside Cottage has been one of our best."

On arrival we were delighted to walk into a warm kitchen and the first thing that we saw was a huge WELCOME sign on the shelf. We appreciated the owner’s visit next morning, to make sure everything was okay, and that we had everything we needed. Our stay was in March so the warmth of this cottage was much appreciated. There was a lovely log burner in the sitting room which we never needed to light. Beckside is comfortably furnished with all facilities that we needed. There is no dishwasher but we never use one anyway!! The beds were clean and very comfortable. We had taken our own pillows due to Covid. The garden is enclosed and on the edge of woodland. We put bird food out which encouraged birds to come to the wall. A bird table might be a good addition. Walking in the area is good with fabulous views from the tops. Kirkby Lonsdale, three miles away, is a lovely little town with many interesting historic features, individual shops, a couple of dog friendly cafes, and a weekly market. Don’t miss the ice cream shop!

  • "Lovely old cottage situated right in the countryside but not too far to drive to Kirkby Lonsdale and Sedbergh."

As the cottage was in the countryside the 'road' as expected was mainly single track which might not be suitable for everyone. The cottage had majority of what we expected but we did take a few kitchen items with us as we were going to be eating in every day and from previous cottage holidays we had some idea what might not be available (lasagne dish and large casserole dish), but the kitchen was well equipped. Lovely lounge to relax in with a log burner for cosy evenings. Excellent shower. Ample parking space and a small enclosed garden with furniture. Ideal location for walking and cycling, with lovely countryside to explore. Nothing was too much trouble for Angie and Mal and we would definitely consider coming back again.

Therefore time stands still but our enjoyment continues. This was our second visit to the cottage because our grandchildren from the other KL insisted on coming back. Having to drive back into Kl is no hardship on Xmas Fayre weekend with the park and ride facility provided by the rugby club. Parking elsewhere is a nightmare. Cottage warm and cosy. First class allround.

  • "Beckside cottage is a lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful part of the world."

The instructions on how to find it we're easy to follow and it was lovely and warm when we first entered. The kitchen is well equipped and a we had everything left to make a fire in the magnificent fireplace. We all loved snuggling up in front of it a night. The only downside and the thing that didn't make this holiday perfect was the bed in the panelled room. I have never had such an uncomfortable sleep. It was like sleeping on a stone bench it was that hard and the duvet just seems so small. Also instructions on how to advance the heating would have been helpful as we had to stay in till late ish one day as my daughter was unwell and it was freezing. All in all we still enjoyed it and hope to return to kirkby Lonsdale as it was such a pretty town and had such lovely people while not being too crammed. It's a good base for both the lakes and the dales.

Well stocked kitchen. Loved the wood burner - my son was in his element keeping it going. We had a lovely but brief stay. Beautiful area of the country. We did not appreciate the full beauty until the next day having arrived in the dark. No problems with finding the cottage, out sat nav took us straight there.

  • "Access to the holiday cottage is along very narrow winding lanes with zero visibility in some places."

This can make getting to or from the road to Kendal/Kirkby Lonsdale a little bit nail biting for some! Though there is very little traffic using the narrow lanes and the local farmers/land owners are well aware of the possibility of meeting oncoming traffic and so take great care - it is still a nervy few minutes driving along the lanes (there is no alternative route to get to the cottage(s)). As a result of the narrow lanes the property is very peaceful - though the few other cottages in the hamlet prevent any feeling of isolation.

  • "What a lovely cottage with plenty of room for the whole family."

We met the owner as we arrived slightly early and she was really friendly and helpful. The cottage was spotlessly clean, full of character and charm. The outside was very pretty with plenty of space to park both cars right by the front door. The garden is contained via low walls and a gate - great for dogs or young children. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils, spotless oven, microwave and lovely to have such a big freezer separate from the fridge. The sitting room was spacious and comfortable with a freeview tv setup. The three bedrooms were clean and pretty - the front bedroom with ensuite shower was particularly light and airy which was helpful as one of our group has very limited sight. The family bathroom was clean and modern with a large good quality shower (although I recommend working out how to turn it on to get hot water before turning it on or you will end up rather chilly - turn the dial round to 3 o'clock). In terms of location, we found it perfect as a real country escape in stunning countryside. There was a very quiet road outside while being only a short drive into the nearby town with all the usual amenities such as supermarket, chemist etc. as well as being surrounded by fabulous walks. Loved the area and would definitely recommend this cottage. We plan to come back!

The cottage had everything we needed for a weeks stay and was lovely and clean. I absolutely loved the cottage itself and hope to return again in the future. However, originally I had booked for myself, husband, 2 children and my Mum & Dad as well as the dog as it is able to sleep 6. Having stayed in the cottage, I think it would be a bit cramped with 4 adults and 2 children and was perfect for the 4 of us and possibly 1 other child. I would highly recommend.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
