  • "We loved our stay here, only wish we'd visited the pub sooner!"

We came on our final night in the cottage and the food was so good. We've recommended both the pub and the cottages to several people since we've come home. We'd definitely consider staying here again next time we're visiting the area

This one among the best by a large margin. Spacious, luxurious and very clean.

Absolutely spotlessly clean quality beds modern and a relaxing view out of the front windows of rolling countryside. So relaxing and had a restful stay will be booking again very soon. We asked to transfer to this property as the Cottage we originally booked was dirty and stunk of damp. so pleased we did.

  • "The lane is narrow and the gap between the corner of the house in the lane and the wall is tight, it is O."

    K. with a small car but a larger one would have difficulty getting into the parking space. It would be helpful to know this when booking.

  • "Great stay."

Pictures don't really do it justice. I suggest picture(s) of the double height ceiling. Also map in welcome folder for how to get there in village would be good on website as a bit late by the time you read the welcome folder!

  • "Great stay at Bill's Barn."

Great location for exploring the Lakes. Property was very clean and fully equipped with everything that you need (A larger pan for cooking up a chilli would be a great addition). The cottage has been finished to a high standard with comfy beds and good quality bathroom fittings. We will definitely return! Oxen Park is a sleepy hamlet with a great pub serving Master Chef quality food, but it does have some very tight questionable roads, especially when following the Sat Nav :-)

  • "A truly lovely time spent at 'Bill's Barn'."

Our granddaughter loved walking down to the farm to watch the sheep and llama, and watching the cows in the field. A very beautifully, clean, well laid out property, with everything you could possibly need for your stay. An extremely peaceful area to stay, and only a short drive away from so many places. We will definitely be booking again. And compliments to the Manor House - food was amazing, a Sunday roast to die for. Thank you.

Would definitely recommend staying here if you want peace and tranquility as there is plenty to be had here. Close to windermere,Coniston and plenty to see. Not really a place to take children as no facilities for them .

  • "What a great place!"

Clean, comfortable and you have everything that you need to have an enjoyable holiday. My complements to the owners, we will be definitely be back for another visit. The only thing I would like to be added on is a place to have a BBQ while enjoying the view and the sounds from the farm, but this is not a show stopper. Highly recommended!

  • "This Beautiful cottage has everything you could wish for."

Ideal location for the Lake District and Ulverston and Barrow. Wonderful comfortable beds and high quality bedding. We really enjoyed our week there and we were very comfortable. The cottage was really warm and there were no restrictions on using the heating. There is a pub very close that serves fantastic food. As the weather was not good we used the pub for a few meals and really enjoyed all aspects of it.

  • "The property was beautifully done and immaculate."

We loved our stay here thank you. Just a few suggestions that people would appreciate a Ruck sac, map of the Lake District and maybe ponchos to borrow as sometimes people forget these.

  • "This is a truly stunning property which provided the corner stone to a lovely family holiday in the Lakes."

Prior to arrival, communications from our host were prompt and thorough ensuring a smooth check in process. Being a young family with a toddler, we were given the option of a cot and high-chair but did not decide to pursue this (although it did provide peace of mind knowing these were available should we need them). Even though there are a few miles of single track roads and narrow passes to access the property, it is worth it to have the privilege of the wonderful rural views from your window. There is a parking area outside the three properties which provides ample room for three large vehicles: an electric charging port was available but we didn't need this. The property itself is immaculate! Upon entry, we were immediately presented with that 'new house smell' as the property was clinically clean. However, this does not detract from the home comforts such as the comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom, fully functioning wi-fi, smart tv and duck/bee themed home furnishings which immediately make you feel warmed and welcomed. Ironically, this warming does not extend to the bath/shower as hot water does run out quickly so most of our baths/showers were lukewarm (but this was appreciated as our stay was during a heatwave). Overall, the property was ideal for us being a young family of three: the whole property is on one floor so there is no fear of 'wandering toddlers' coming to any harm and the bedroom setup (one double in one room and two twin beds in the other room) ensured that there was plenty of space. Our favourite features had to be the high-rise ceiling in the living room - a reminder that this is barn conversion (you wouldn't know otherwise) and the outdoor table and chairs which enabled my wife and I to enjoy the stunning scenery with a glass of wine at the end of a busy day. Being a young family, most of our visits started from Lakeside (15 minute drive) which hosts the aquarium, steam railway and ferry terminal all on the same site - the last of which is a nice easy way to reach more populated areas such as Ambleside and Bowness if you fancy an alternate method of transport. It is also worth mentioning that next to a welcome pack of light refreshments and a cleaning kit, there was a clear and thorough 'home guide' which provided all the information needed to operate appliances, dispose of rubbish and plan an agenda for each day. Overall, we had a phenomenal stay and would unreservedly recommend Bill's Barn: it is clear that our hosts have put their all into this beautiful property and always put the needs and interests of their guests to the fore. It was a privilege to have stayed here and we will certainly be returning!

Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad that you liked the cottage and would love to welcome you back again. We have adjusted the boiler settings, so the hot water issue should be resolved. Property Owner
