Cottage is small but very homely. The two of us plus two large dogs were just fine. The cottage has everything you could possibly need. The Dog Inn is the hub of the community and everyone was so friendly. We have made new friends.

Thank you for the feedback. It was a pleasure having you stay and hopefully you'll visit the village again. Wishing you well with your new life on the narrow boat. Property Owner

  • "We stayed two nights mid-week in the second week of the easter vacation, the property was everything we expected it to be and very dog friendly, we had taken covers to go in the sofa's but they were provided."

We had one minor problem with the boiler, but a quick call to the owner sorted it out; low water pressure which is sorted by a valve on the bottom right of the boiler. The pub across the road is great, with a view across to Blackpool which we think we could see in the sunset. The only downside for the three days was the weather, but at least we were inside and that was outside, give or take the odd dog walk.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. X Property Owner

  • "This was almost ok but not quite."

Positives - location, fabulous pub opposite, lovely welcome pack of cakes, butter, milk, eggs, etc, plenty of towels, throws, blankets, items for dogs including treats and good information on local area etc. Generally good attention to detail. Negatives - just too small for 4 people even though two were children. Beds v soft, hubby didn't sleep. Not very clean, hair and gunge in shower trap and muck in sink plug, crumbs on kitchen surfaces, rug covered in bits and dog hair, quite few dirty surfaces. Think I left it cleaner than I found it. Too many room/reed diffusers! Set off husband's asthma and all different scents and very cloying. I'm allergic to something in one of them as I moved it and came up in a rash. Appreciate the idea, but too many and too strong and felt like they might be masking something. Porch very damp, left two hoodies out there and they were damp in morning. We couldn't get gas fire to work despite instructions although didn't need it in the end as heating came on and then weather warmed up. Plus too much clutter- don't need extra bookcase downstairs as no room for table and chairs - we couldn't use it even for two people as despite being small, there was not enough room to sit and table was wobbly. No need for rocking chair in bedroom and creepy doll and strappy old shoes as ornaments. Best to keep things simple and clean. Gate opening outwards - be careful not to damage your car or passers by! So sorry for negatives as we love to praise a good stay, but for £100 a night this was not great.

I'm sorry to hear you were unhappy with your stay. Although it can sleep 4 people I think it's quite obvious from the photos that it is an old, small weavers cottage. I have had 3 and 4 adults stay before and they have found it perfectly adequate. There is only 1 diffuser downstairs and 1 in the bathroom and 1 in the bedroom which are good quality ones so it's just a personal thing if you don't like them. Again the vast majority of people have found the beds very comfortable. The one in the back room is softer but the front room is not a soft mattress at all. I'm not sure where you're coming from with the cleanliness as it was all thoroughly cleaned including bathroom shower, kitchen worktops and the lounge. The bathroom and kitchen are cleaned thoroughly and sanitised and no one has eaten in there since so not sure where the crumbs would have come from. It certainly wasn't cleaner after you left. The porch is unheated and you were there in cold, wet weather so possibly the hoodie could feel damp overnight. Not sure why you couldn't start the fire as its in perfectly good working order and starts everytime usually and has started easily after you left. The bookcase doesn't actually interfere with the table and I noticed you hadn't put down the drop leaf so perhaps that's why you thought it too small. Also it's not the table that's wobbly it's the 230 year old original flooring. There are slate coasters to use if you can't get it level but it's not usually a problem for guests. The only way to have a gate on the property is for it to open outwards as there are steps leading upto the front door. It's safer to fit a fence and gate for dogs and children staying. There aren't usually any passers by on that side of the road due to the pavement being only 18" wide and the main pavement on the other side of the road. As for hitting the car it's also tight to open your door against the stonewall but I can't move the wall. Thank you for your positive comments. Property Owner

  • "Homely cottage."

Thank you for the lovely welcome package of milk, local butter and eggs. Delicious. As mentioned car parking was on road. Difficult to access front gate in windy weather as it opens out onto pavement - need to take care opening it as it may damage your vehicle. Beds were very comfortable. Great walks from cottage. The Dog Inn is an excellent place to go to for drinks/meal. Very friendly. Downstairs was a bit cluttered and there was an awful draught from the meter cupboard. The front door didn’t shut snugly and water was evident in vestibule after rain. Cottage would be even cosier if these problems were addressed.

I'm pleased you had a good stay in the village and enjoyed the delights of The Dog Inn.Unfortunately you were here in incredibly bad weather, with gale force winds and rain being lashed sideways at the front of the cottage. I appreciate your point about the porch but to fix it actually needs a complete new build and as it only happens on the occasions when the weather is so bad it's not an immediate priority. The same with the meter cupboard, it's never been mentioned before and I've not noticed it. However it has been noted now and I will look into it and try to rectify the problem. Hope Peggy had a good time. Property Owner

Great for doggies too - the rec is round the corner, good for early and late short walks and the view of Pendle Hill managed to look different every day. The Singing Ringing Tree is a sculpture nearby well worth visiting. The Pennine moors offer many interesting walks and the Dog Inn is a welcoming friendly community pub with good food. • "Bendigedig is a lovely cosy cottage on the edge of the beautiful West Pennine moors with its beautiful walks."

It is very dog friendly with easy access to a playing field for early morning and late evening walks. It is comfortably furnished and we appreciated the welcome pack of milk, local cheese and eggs from the local Hens on the Hill. And when there was a minor problem with the central heating the owner immediately came round to sort it out. And personally I loved learning about the cottage and it’s interesting history as well as sitting out on the decking in front of the cottage enjoying the glorious sunsets and a glass of lager - we were lucky to have a great week of weather! Thanks Lesley - we have already booked to return early November!

Thank you for your kind words. It was lovely to meet with you and have a chat. It's great to hear you're coming back with your two gorgeous dogs. I hope the weather will be just as good this time...fingers crossed. Property Owner

Lesley clearly cares about making her guests feel welcome. She recommended the pub across the road and we bevame regular visitors to the Dog Inn during our two week stay. Needless to say our two dogs loved being fussed by the friendly local community and running on the field at the back of the cottage. I particularly loved the views over the fields very relaxing. We would definitely return.

  • "A pleasant cottage in a pleasant village."

The kitchen was well equipped and the welcome pack of cake and butter etc was a nice touch. One star has been dropped because the cleanliness was not up to scratch. There were dog hairs on the carpet (we don't have a dog), the bathroom sink and bath both needed a rinse and a clean prior to use, several items of cutlery and crockery needed a clean before use, as did the fridge. We left it better than we found it!

I'm sorry to hear the cottage was below par. Possibly the dog hairs were from the reindeer rug as the carpet had been cleaned several times since the last dog was in there and I know both the bathroom and kitchen were fully sanitised as usual. As the bathroom furniture is not new perhaps it didn't look as bright as a new suite would. I can only apologise and I will ensure everything is triple checked in future. Property Owner

Very well stocked and practically need only clothes to move in with. Loved my stay and excellent local pub.... dog friendly which was a must .. directly opposite with excellent food and very pleasant locals. Upstairs accessed by a fairly steep wooden staircase houses an extremely comfortable bed... quite easy to stay in if you could. The bathroom is ' cosy ' Quite small but adequate. Water pressure on the shower could do with being stronger but I still managed. Overall, especially for the price, a well maintained and excellent little place to stay for a weekend or a week or two away. Many thanks.

Thank you Stuart for your feedback. I understand your comments on the shower and it is something I will be looking at in the future. It is adequate but not as powerful as would be desired. I'm really pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again next year. Property Owner
