"We had a lovely weeks stay in Bardsea."
Cottage was spotless and had everything we needed. It is so cosy and felt like home . Great being next door but one to a lovely pub where we would go when we would get back from our days out. Would highly recommend .

"Lovely cottage in a great position to explore the south lakes."
I don’t usually recommend but this cottage warrants a recommendation.
-
"We loved this cottage."
Considering it was a last minute booking due to circumstances beyond our control we were completely satisfied with our accommodation. The cottage is fully equipped , the owner has thought of everything to make a comfortable stay. The kitchen had everything needed to cook a meal as we didn't want to eat out each evening. I was glad that cleaning products were there to use during our stay as this has always been an issue when staying away from home. The cottage is situated in a great locality near to a beautiful stretch of beach which is always what we look for in booking somewhere and having a pub within walking distance was a nice bonus plus some interesting places to visit. The gesture of welcome cookies and a card were thoughtful and lovely. We all enjoyed the break away and I would gladly recommend this property to others and we hope to come back in the near future. Thankyou :)

"We had a really lovely stay at the cottage."
It was so welcoming and cosy and had everything we needed to feel at home. The location was great, close to the beach for the dog and within a few minutes drive of Ulverston and other Lake District areas. We will definitely visit again!
-
"Lovely cottage in peaceful friendly village."
Everything we needed and more! Good base for exploring Lakes and Furness area. Woul love to return.
-
"I've previously shared this with the owner, with no response, but there is a significant indent in the bed."
How this has not been brought to their attention before is unbelievable as it was obvious even visually. When staying in a cottage, as a minimum is cleanliness and a comfortable bed, so on this basis I wouldn't stay again.
-
"It's a great area with lots to explore without needing to drive into Lake District bottlenecks."
Beautiful and unspoiled. The cottage is fresh and clean and has one of the best equipped kitchens we have met, and a shady rose garden when it's too hot to go out.
-
"A lovely cottage with lots of storage to enable you to keep the cottage tidy while fully unpacking."
Lots of extra touches provided that are not listed on the website. (eg Hairdryer, washer). A good base for a walk to the beach and the pub 2 doors down seemed friendly without too much noise. The only negative was the request to strip the beds at the end of our stay, which I think would be difficult with a 9.30am leaving time. We would however not hesitate to return.
-
"Excellent base for the walking festival."
Quiet, clean & warm. Friendly locals & walkers’ portions at the Ship Inn

"Couple of issues which we left a note for the owner about."
Positive -advertise you have a washing machine Negative - pub not dog friendly, which we know isn’t the owner of the cottage’s fault but was a deciding factor of booking a dog friendly cottage, next door but one from a pub during the Christmas/new year break.
-
"Lovely cottage in a peaceful village."
Flowers and biscuits a welcome touch. Beds very comfortable and fantastic shower. Would definitely stay again.
-

-

"3 School View was perfect for our holiday - exceptionally clean & with the most comfortable beds & bedding; every necessity (& luxury) had been provided for."
We were also really glad of the coded key safe outside, so that on returning individually every day we were confident we'd be able to get in. We're hoping to return next year, dependent upon availability of course!

"A lovely relaxing cottage in a sleepy village, even though it is 2 doors away from the local pub."
Fabulous walks & beaches to be found within walking distance of the cottage. Ulverston is a great place to visit & buy anything you need or relax in the many eateries. The cottage has been thoughtfully modernised to an extremely high standard with little heart shapes in the bespoke furniture! It's also got the most amazing walk in shower & delightfully comfortable beds. We liked the fact that we had the additional conservatory room to relax in too. Highly recommended!

"The owner (Sarah) is a lovely person who left tea/coffee, milk and biscuits to start us off."
Just what we needed after a nightmare journey involving traffic jams and diversions due to accidents. She also included a beautiful bunch of flowers. The cottage was immaculate and I have no reservations about recommending this property to anyone wanting a relaxing holiday
-
"Lovely cottage, lovely village and a very welcoming pub just two doors away Would definitely recommend."

-
"The cottage and its location was perfect for us."
The owner clearly takes pride in ensuring that guests are made to feel welcome as soon as they walk through the door as a sense of homeliness is instantly created. Highly recommended.
-
"Neighbours next door in number 4 noisy on occasions also dogs howling in the mornings"
-
"Milk in the fridge on our arrival and tea, coffee and biscuits handy without having to shop or unpack , We had sunshine and a beautiful small garden to drink morning coffee and lunch in while recovering from our 300mile journey too."
Friday is not a good turnaround day on the M6!
-
"Beautiful cottage in a very quiet village."
Only one pub and an ice cream shop within a short walk. The pub also does not allow dogs inside. Excellent base for touring the Lakes.
-
"Had a great week at school view."
Everything you could possibly need is in the cottage. Loved the shower, comfy bed. Great walks and the dog loved the beach. There’s a good chip shop and co op not to far in the car, along the coast rd. would definitely go again.
-
"A very homely property, tastefully furnished to a very high standard."
Equipped with all the necessary essentials to make your stay feel like home. Would highly recommend the property to anyone looking to explore the lakes or the surrounding areas with plenty of great walks locally with the beach only five minutes away.
-
"It was such a beautiful place!"
The pictures don’t do them justice! Would benefit from a dishwasher. Overall amazing for everything especially for cleanliness. The host is also a very welcoming Person!
-
"Lovely bright, extremely clean cottage."
Has everything you could possibly need. Properly enclosed garden and front which is excellent for a dog. Has a fantastic shower that you just want to stay in. Great location for lots of walks and only few mins from the sea . Very very highly recommended.
-
"Lovely cosy cottage well equipped with a great shower."
Perfect for us. Thank you.
-
"Great little cottage much bigger inside, bed very comfortable and splendid location."
-
"The cottage is of excellent quality and the owner makes it feel like a home from home with all the extra personal touches."
We found the experience through Sykes and the owner exceeded our expectations. The cottage is only 5 minutes from the beach which our dog loved and well located for a nice walk into Ulverston.
-
"The cottage feels like home from home."
-
"This was a very comfortable cottage."
We had a lovely time. Near to all the places we wanted to go. We would recommend this cottage.
-
"The cottage was immaculate and comfortable with a very pretty garden including a secluded eating area."
We were made to feel very welcome by the owner with a lovely card and vase of flowers, not forgetting the pint of milk in the fridge for the much needed cuppa on arrival. Everything you need for a stay was there including items for a dog's stay too. We loved the shower/bathroom, just like you'd have in a great hotel A great base for exploring the Lake District The only downside, which the owner can do nothing about is the thin internal walls between the cottages, particularly between this cottage and the one next to the pub. We had a lot of crashing and banging about from them at all hours. Good job we were out most of the day
-
"This cottage is excellently located for those attending events at Manjushri Meditation Centre."
It is also a good location for a holiday based around country walks and/or lake visits. Very handy to be able to park right outside.
-
"Sykes is an unprofessional company when it comes to taking the needs of the holiday maker into account."
We made a major oversight/ mistake whilst on holiday and Sykes gave us no support from the demands of the owner. Sykes supported the owner 100% even to the extent of breaking their own terms and conditions.
-
"It was like a 'home from home' setting."
Visited for personal reasons and the stay was wonderful.
-
"We were knocked out by this cottage."
The decor and layout are clever, the shower and kitchen wonderful and the general quality of furnishings excellent. We have been coming to the Lake District for 25+years and this is the cottage that we think is the outstanding one we've stayed in. Bardsea is a great location for all of the Furness peninsula, and for much of the South Lakes. Windermere is about 25 minutes away, Coniston and Hawkhead nearer. The Ship Inn in the village is very welcoming. We spent most of our time walking from the village, either along the coast, over Birkrigg common or to Urswick. All the paths are well marked. Fortunately the weather was kind. We will return here again.
