  • "What a lovely holiday cottage."

It is clear that the owner has invested in some high end appliances which makes self catering a good experience. The cottage was warm and cosy, set in a quiet road, we hardly saw anyone. Parking was not an issue. The hot tub was a really lovely bonus and the towels from that never undersold department store were very welcoming. We went to Skipton on the train picking up from Hellifield station. We also found that the location of the cottage was good for all the local attractions. We would certainly use it again.

Such a beautiful location and quite central to visit points of interest. Having the hot tub was a bonus. Clean and comfortable.

  • "Cottage was more spacious than we thought."

Only slight comment was that both bins were full and no instructions as to where and when the bins were to placed for emptying Otherwise a most enjoyable stay with plenty of things to see and do in the area.

  • "Had a fabulous 4 night stay at Haw Grove last week, the cottage was amazing !"

The beds were comfy, the kitchen fantastically kitted out ( wanted for nothing), the bathroom fantastic and I didn’t want to get out the shower ! The cottage is very spacious but cosy, definitely bigger than expected, we had a packet of cookies and milk left in the fridge for our arrival as well as sugar, tea, coffee so we could have a brew before we unpacked

  • "Had a lovely weekend here with my husband and mum and dog."

It was nicely decorated throughout with high end kitchen spec and cooking aids we had everything we needed and nice touches such as dog towels and dressing gowns to use after hot tub. It is close to all areas such as Skipton Malham and Settle which we visited and also nice walks with public footpaths on your doorstep to walk doggie. It was good value for money and would recommend people to stay and it is deceptively larger than pictures show. Parking for big cars can be tricky but we were lucky to get a space near house and turning space at end of road. Can recommend local chippy too.

  • "The electrics tripped every evening when you put on more than one appliance - put the oven on & any other appliance & it trips."

No smoke alarm or CO detector which are legal requirements. I made Sykes aware of all these factors but they seemed happy & said they were probably difficult to see, whether my concerns were passed onto the owners I am unsure. Please beware this is a risk to life & you should think seriously b4 booking this property. The house is lovely & very modern but Sykes didn’t want to accept any responsibilities they were happy that the fire protection document was in place. The neighbours at No12 were unhappy as we parked outside there house & we ended having to move our car all v petty they think they own the highway

I’m sorry that you’ve had an issue with the electrics, electric issue has been resolved and subsequent guests have not had any issues of this kind. All the necessary fire safety steps have been taken as per the fire protection document from Sykes cottages and fire an CO detectors are in place. Ample free parking on the street with which no other guests have had a problem Property Owner

About the location

HELLIFIELD

Settle 6 miles; Skipton 9 miles.

The village of Hellifield lies between Settle and Skipton at the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It's a thriving, small community with a local pub, scattering of small shops, a renowned butcher's and historic railway station. The village nestles amongst the most picturesque rolling countryside, beside the largest outcrop of limestone in Britain - a region of scars, cliffs, caves and potholes. Hellifield grew as an important agricultural centre, where the moorlands of the Dales meet the pasturelands of the Ribble Valley, and boasted one of the most important livestock markets in the North of England for many years. It later developed into a railway centre and the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Natural attractions such as Malham Cove and Gordale Scar are within easy reach, as are the nearby Dales towns of Skipton and Malham. Hellifield is in the midst of excellent walking country and is a good base for touring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
