Eskdale Retreat was the former Eskdale vicarage and is now a fabulous, luxury holiday home set within 10 acres of woodland and meadows on the outskirts of Boot, Cumbria.
Sitting in an idyllic location along the River Esk and within the Lake District National Park, with hiking, wild swimming, fishing, and cycling on the doorstep, this home makes the perfect getaway for large groups of friends and family looking to escape to a picture-perfect setting.
Eskdale Retreat seamlessly blends the character of the original building and its surroundings, while adopting a Scandi-style renovation to bring the best of tradition and contemporary; boasting eight en-suite bedrooms, a hot tub, a cinema room and beautiful grounds, offering the ultimate home for a celebration or annual meet-up.
Private off-road parking for eight cars is available, along with two EV charging points, for extra convenience.
Entering the main house, the Alpine-style boot room provides boot warmers and dryers, a welcome addition after a day of walking.
The main living area consists of an open-plan living space with a kitchen fitted with quality Neff appliances, a spacious dining area, and a sitting area with a toasty woodburning stove which is perfect for cosying up to after an adventurous day out.
Should the chef of the group need a break from cooking one evening, a private chef can be arranged via the owner, or you can venture to one of the local pubs for something a little more casual.
Here, there is also a snug for unwinding, and a cinema for quality time watching a film, catching up on the best shows, or even catching the most important sporting event of the season!
Upstairs on the first floor, six bedrooms, each with an en-suite, provide a space to rest; two of the rooms even include freestanding baths for soaking your muscles.
Two more super-king-size bedrooms rest in the Coach House, ideal for anyone who likes their own space or young families needing an earlier bedtime away from the excitement.
The Coach House also has its own kitchen facilities and dining and sitting spaces, so there are plenty of options for the whole group when it’s time to relax.
Stepping outside, you can bask in your surroundings while enjoying the relaxation of the hot tub, gather for family meals alfresco, or simply enjoy your morning coffee whilst listening to the encompassing nature.
Eskdale Retreat lies in “one of the loveliest of Lakeland’s valleys” as Alfred Wainwright described, with the rugged hills and fells, the coast, and of course, lakes and tarns to be discovered.
The private garden is what dreams are made of, with woodland and meadows to wander and private river frontage with deep pools for natural bathing.
There are endless activities in the area with supported canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, rock climbing, archery, raft building, ghyll scrambling, and canyoning all available by prior arrangement, as well as bike hire and guided cycling and swimming.
Alternatively, if you’re a seasoned outdoor explorer, you can find a world of wild mountains and water from the doorstep.
Enjoy a break like no other at Eskdale Retreat.
