• "Wow . What an absolute find!"

  Lisa has literally thought of everything. The cottage is stunning, immaculate and so well put together and stylish and garden is secure for dogs. The thought that has gone into making the dogs welcome too is so cute. There’s a basket with everything from treats to beds. The space is brilliant and everything is quality and everything works which I know should be normal but quite often isn’t the case. The other bonus is that you are literally next door to a great pub with a lovely family running it . It’s dog friendly and a great atmosphere. So in summary, you will not be disappointed. So good we’ve booked again for January 2025 Thank you , we loved it The woods, The Walkers, Freya, Elsa and Holly (the spaniels)

• "Wow. What a fab house."

  We were a group of six adults who travelled without dogs. We loved the look and location of Garth End, but did wonder whether we would smell other peoples dogs. We should not have been concerned. The house was absolutely spotless - Lisa must work very hard to maintain such high standards. Comfy beds, plenty of hot water, lots of space, the friendly pub next door and some lovely weather - we had a wonderful week and would recommend Garth End to you all. We’ll be back.

• "Lovely property with all the mod cons you could need for a home from home experience."

  Great to not have to pack lots of things for the dogs with bowls, towels and bedding provided. Lovely to have lots of blankets to protect the furniture as well as to snuggle up under on an evening. Lisa, the host made contact before we travelled and great to have direct contact should there had been any issues. Thoroughly enjoyed the week.

  The cottage was very clean, very comfortable, extremely well equipped, warm, plenty of hot water. It was in an excellent location to access the Pennines, Yorkshire Dales and Lakes. Lisa was very helpful and sorted out a problem with the bed arrangement after Sykes had failed to communicate properly.

• "Garth End is a fabulous property, we booked to celebrate New year , we were 8 adults and 3 dogs and the house was large spacious and accommodating to all of our needs."

  The house was spotless, the furnishings were of excellent quality, everything was to the highest standard and everything was thought of , we needed to only bring food, the bedding and towels were very good quality. Dog towels bowls bedding and treats were even provided! Wine and chocolates ( Tea/coffee/sugar too ) were there to welcome us. We all felt very comfortable and throughly enjoyed our stay, Lisa must work exceptionally hard to maintain this kind of standard for her guests it was nothing short of 5* . Thank you sincerely.

  There were both umbrellas and picnic facilities available. The pub next door was lovely, we didn't eat there but it was great for a few drinks for us. Would recommend this property to anyone wanting a relaxing break.

• "Beautifully decorated and furnished home from home."

  Everything you could think of was provided, even down to dog baskets, blankets and bowls. A good base to explore from, with a handy pub next door. Description of how to find the property could have been a little clearer ie “on the corner of …” and would have liked a separate recycling bin in the kitchen. However I’m really trying to find anything that could have been improved because it has been the best doggy friendly and not doggy smelly holiday place we’ve ever stayed in!

  A beautiful cottage with everything you would need. The cottage was immaculate. The gifts on arrival were a lovely thought and even gifts for the dog. The cottage is set in a lovely quiet location with a very nice pub next door. There are some lovely walks directly from the cottage.

• "Wonderful cottage in a lovely location, hope to be back soon!"

  I booked Garth End for a girls week away with friends & dogs to celebrate my birthday & I wasn't disappointed, it is one of the nicest properties I've stayed in by a long mile!!! Everything was beautifully presented, furniture & facilities were quality & it was immaculately clean. There was everything we needed for our stay ... and more!! We always take loads of dog blankets, but there was a plentiful supply, plus lovely human blankets too!! The information folder has to be one of the best thought out & really helpful & the welcome gifts were beautiful & so thoughtful, thank you Lisa! Although we were lucky with the weather, having the door leading into the utility meant it was easy to get rid of coats, boots & wipe paws. The kitchen was well equipped, no shortage of crockery, glasses, cutlery or pans. I forgot tea & coffee but there was a plentiful supply, so we didn't miss out on our morning cuppa & it was nice having the choice of eating round the island or at the dining table. Good TV, audio & wifi provision with excellent option of streaming services. The flexibility of bedroom set up meant everyone had their own bed & the bathrooms were lovely with good showers & plenty of hot water. The garden was fully enclosed, private & dog friendly ... the snowdrops were beautiful and it was lovely to see the daffs coming out. The patio furniture wasn't out (being winter) but will be a lovely area to sit out in warmer weather! Didn't get chance to try the pub as opening times were limited due to the time of year, but the menu looked really nice & everyone we met from the village had time to stop & have a chat, it was nice to witness the genuine sense of community! Having the park with its kids playground, bmx bike track and field where you can give the dogs a run was a definite bonus. The village is lovely and central to lots of locations to walk and visit. It is also very handy having a pub next door where they serve good food in the evening!   The whole house is beautifully decorated with lovely touches throughout. We were surprised to be left with so much wood for the log fire, which we really appreciated!   We stayed for a week for my 50th birthday! The house has everything you need! We gathered around the island while each couple took it in turns to cook! We played games! You don’t feel like your on top of each other as you have the main lounge with the wood burner (you can buy logs over the road) or you have the snug which is so comfy! The house is immaculate, we did not want to leave!

  Part of what sold the property to us was the fact that it was advertised as having a pub next door. Unfortunately the pub was closed during our week stay. We’d planned to eat breakfast here and have dinner there too. It did have an impact because we had to travel in two / three vehicles to get food including takeaways and it was my 50th birthday celebration. I appreciate we hired the cottage not the pub, but it was advertised with a pub next door. Overall we still had a great time, the pub would have made it fantastic!!

  A welcome pack for our party including the dog was a lovely touch. The accommodation included a wide range of well considered items such as blankets for use outside or on the sofas, picnic equipment and a range of candle holders and tableware that made the house feel like a home. Location was ideal for exploring the lakes and local towns. The pub next door provides excellent meals to eat in or take back to the cottage. Highly recommended.   We found it to be very conveniently located for touring the Lake District, Pennines, Hadrian's Wall, and much more. The cottage is extremely comfortable with high end decor, with ample space for a family or several couples. We particularly enjoyed the two different reception rooms on the ground floor and the en-suite bathrooms upstairs. Beds and furnishings are extremely comfortable. Lisa was a very kind, conscientious, and responsive host. We really appreciated all her personal touches. We felt very welcome and would not hesitate to return to this cottage!

  This really is a beautiful home away from home. Everything you could wish for or need is in this cottage. The owner Lisa has thought of making her visitors very relaxed and cared for on their break away in the Lake District, and I would recommend this 100% plus. It was well situated for visiting Lakes or dining around in the multitude of great pubs nearby. A special mention to the New Crown Inn just next door, fabulous food and great service. This was exactly what was needed for my family during this challenging time and I will definitely be back ......hopefully next year.

  Everything was very tastefully and thoughtfully done. When we arrived at the cottage, it felt like we were the first guests to ever live there. It was very clean and made for a perfect cosy getaway. Lisa was very thoughtful and put together a handbook with all the useful information we might need as tourists.   It is well situated in a small village next to a pub where the landlord is very welcoming. The pub is the village local serving good food and drinks and its proximity is convenient but causes no disturbance. The cottage owner, Lisa, is very attentive and has thought of just about everything you could possibly need for a lovely holiday. This property is probably one of the best that we have ever stayed in, a full 5 star experience.
