"A fabulous cottage with a amazing view across the fields to Coniston Water."
A brilliant stay once again, a really relaxing holiday.
-
"Our 4th stay at Garden Cottage Coniston and an excellent time was had at this modern appointed property with lake view."
Everything within easy distance pub just 5 mins away. Very clean and comfortable. We look forward to our next stay.
-
"A beautiful property."
Exactly as described. Very deceiving as to the actual size as from the outside it doesnt look very big but inside it is huge. Never used the living room as the conservatory offered amazing peaceful views over the Lake. The cottage was immaculate upon arrival. Kitchen has everything and more. Bathrooms are very spacious. We will return.

"The only negative to the property was the parking."
We had no problems with it as we were only in 1 car but I’d not be happy leaving my car in a lay-by which would be needed with more cars. That said, it’s a lovely place to stay with great views and amenities. The tumble dryer has been deactivated due to the running costs. Fortunately we didn’t need it. 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms seemed odd until we realised the downstairs one was probably for dogs. The bathroom attached to the bedroom we used has the best shower we’ve ever used in both holiday cottages or hotels. The toilets is 2 of the bathrooms were constantly trickling but we just closed the door so we couldn’t hear it. We’d definitely stay there again.

"The cottage is very well equipped but the tumble dryer being disconnected and the washing machine apparently not working was not good."
The drying rack is quite small for 5 people who have been out and about outdoors.
We do apologise about the temporary lack of the washing machine. We only became aware of this problem a week before Christmas and it was impossible to get a replacement before the holiday. Lakelovers informed our Christmas and New Year guests, and we understand they arranged a rebate for you to compensate for this inconvenience. A new machine will be installed mid-January. We do not advertise a tumble drier because of its poor carbon footprint. The drying rack is a really efficient alternative with zero carbon footprint, especially due its position above the radiator; we suggest using coat hangers to maximise capacity. "A very comfortable cottage with fantastic views across the fields to the lake."
The cottage has everything you need and is right on the edge of Coniston. A perfect place for a Lake District holiday.
-
"Property was amazing, had everything we needed plus more."
The week from the back of the property was stunning. Great location with only short walk to the town. Property was extremely luxurious all with en-suite bathrooms. Loved the spare fridge in the boot room for our drinks. Thank you for making our weekend even more enjoyable.

"Fantastic home, well equipped for a very comfortable stay."
We really enjoyed our first trip to the Lakes and would love to come again. Thank you for sharing your property! Two comments to share: - we left on Weds and out of courtesy, wanted to let you know but couldn’t find even a contact email to get in touch. Had we needed assistance during our stay, this would have represented a hurdle. - the lack of facilities to separate and recycle our waste was a real concern. We ended up bringing our dry recycling back home with us. This is a basic and expected requirement for every home so was very noticeable in its absence. Thanks again
Thank you for your feedback. You will find contact information on your key collections email for any emergencies that may occur. This property is registered with Cumbria Waste, who collect all waste in one bin and separate the items on site. We are glad that you enjoyed your holiday and all the area has to offer. "We love the property."
Have stayed there three times in 2023. It’s a wonderful area and this is the perfect base to explore Lake Districts beauty.
-
"We have stayed at Garden Cottage in Coniston many times and we have always found it to be a fantastic base for our holidays in The Lake District."
A really comfortable cottage of the highest standard. The only small improvement we would suggest would be a folding clothes airer for the utility room to create more drying space
-
"Beautiful cottage with great views, lovely clean bathrooms and kitchen facilities."
-
"Our favourite holiday property - perfect location and you can’t beat that view!"
Been visiting this lovely cottage since 2011!

"The Garden Cottage is decorated and furnished to a very high standard."
Good location with easy access to the town and the lake. Good walks from the cottage, didn’t need to use the car all week. It was a bonus to have an en suite in every bedroom and the utility room is perfect for drying wet walking kit and wetsuits. The local pub, The Ship Inn,a few minutes walk served good food and drinks and we were given a very warm welcome. Will definitely book another stay.

"Garden Cottage was beautifully appointed."
The views from the conservatory and deck are fabulous. We were slightly concerned to see a large rat crossing the back garden one evening, but the presence of bird feeders next door probably encouraged it. The parking was also not what we expected. Having to bump up and down a kerb side each time we left/arrived in the car is not good for anyone's tyres and wheels. We suggest a dropped kerb is applied for and installed. In over 30 years of cottage holidays we have never been asked to perform housekeeping in the form of stripping beds before we leave on our 250 mile return journey. Added to this the bag provided was nowhere near big enough to hold all the bedlinen and towels.
Wildlife is a fact of life in rural locations, and we certainly appreciate the birds on the bird feeder, but very occasionally there may be an unwelcome visitor (although we have never seen one). We have just installed another electronic rodent deterrent to keep anything unwelcome out of the cottage The kerb is a low one but we have considered applying to have it reduced in height. This would, however, entail traffic lights on the narrow road causing significant delays. The disruption would be extremely unpopular with our neighbours as well as with the through traffic. The request - from our housekeeper - about the laundry dates back to the pandemic and is now redundant; we have consequently revised the departure information accordingly. Apologies for the inconvenience. Kind regards Geoff and Pamela Property Owner

"Very well equipped property, spacious but cosy, warm and comfortable."
Sadly not dog friendly as we would like to recommend our friends and family members who have pets …(and the property is able to accommodate this in the conservatory and utility room which are huge) however . ..a wonderful property and a lovely part of the lakes that we haven’t fully explored before. Steam Bisstro highly recommended x
Thank you for your feedback, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your holiday. We hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a fantastic place, ideally situated for the hills, Town and pub!"
Great facilities it had everything we needed and a large conservatory which had a fantastic view of the Lake. We had a fabulous Christmas in this Cottage and hope to return sometime in the future. Thanks again The Hemy and Cathcart families .

"A lovely cottage, very clean, well presented and very well equipped."
Although we didn't take our bikes it's great to find a holiday cottage with secure storage for them. Easy walk into Coniston with plenty of walks in the area, we only took the car out once during our stay. We would definitely recommend Garden cottage for a stay in this area of Lake District.
-
"Garden Cottage is beautiful and the view of Lake Coniston is amazing."
It is very well equipped and comfortable for 6 adults. The utility room is a real bonus when you come back in the pouring rain from the lake. We had three cars and parking in the layby just up the road was fine.

"A fabulous stay once again at The Garden Cottage in Coniston."
Looking forward to returning soon.

"Drop kerb would be helpful."
Not all toilets flush properly. Shower in small double room tiny and gurgles. Hot water tank only provides two showers then need to wait before having more showers. Beds in twin/king size room very squeaky and uncomfortable. Chest of drawers in twin/king room - drawers jammed. Price hike up 60% from last year and will prevent us returning for a 7th time next year. Have enjoyed the 6 years we have stayed and will miss Coniston.
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to read that you had some issues at the property during your stay. We always like to deal with any problems as they arise; our maintenance is managed by Lakelovers and had you contacted them during your stay they would have resolved problems straight away. The property benefits from 4 bathrooms, the smallest bathroom can only accommodate a small shower; the hot water tank has a capacity of 210 litres and is usually more than sufficient to meet guests’ needs. We are currently at the cottage ourselves and have had no issues with any of the toilets. Our pricing is subject to Lakelovers’ dynamic pricing model and will vary dependent on high or low season as well as booking lead times and demand. We run a variety of offers throughout the year and it's always worth keeping an eye out for these. Property Owner

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the only slight issue is parking."
It would be helpful to have a dropped kerb to make it easier when parking on quite a busy road. The neighbour was unnecessarily rude when we parked in "his" space for 10 mins whilst we loaded our other car because we had a young child and it's quite dangerous walking when no path and a busy narrow road, but that was the only negative.
-
"Lovely cottage - clean and spacious."
Loved the conservatory in particular. I don’t think parking should be advertised for two cars. The space at the cottage should really have a dropped kerb and the lay-by nearby was full most of the time. Other than that we loved staying here, the location is great for walking and getting to/from Coniston.
-
"One minor detail in that the garden furniture wasn’t suitable for sitting upon."
Requires attention.
-
"It's the 3rd stay at this cottage and all was very good."
Very clean and well appointed. Twenty mins stroll into Coniston and a 5 min walk to the pub. Plenty of walks and don't miss the lake cruise or a Brantwood house visit which has a restaurant with terrace views of the lake. The weather was excellent so we were lucky.
-
"The Garden Cottage is beautifully situated looking over fields and woodland to Coniston Water."
We were particularly impressed as to how well equiped the cottage is, especially the kitchen which had pretty much everything that you would ever need! The cottage was spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished and outside the garden was nicely maintained. We throughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the cottage to others.
-
"The cottage was better than we thought from the pictures."
Lovely and welcoming. Very clean. The views were spectacular. Loved having a full size utility room!! So well Located with the easy but very pretty walk into coniston and a pub a stones throw away!! Couldn’t have been happier.
-
"Lovely , clean, well equiped cottage, ideal spot overlooking the lake."
We did feel a bit rushed on our last morning as the 10am departure time is quite early given we had beds to strip dishwasher to empty etc. As check-in is 4pm we thought 11.30 departure would be a more acceptable time. Unfortunately due to health reasons only 4 of us were able to visit and enjoy the weekend.
-
"Lovely property & stunning views!"
-
"Everything was straightforward with booking the cottage, all instructions and communications were clear."
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and exceeded our expectations! It was comfortable, clean and well equipped. The location is great and I think I could sit in the conservatory all day looking at the view!
-
"The accommodation was the best we have ever stayed in."
The weather was dreadful but the facilities in the cottage enabled us to dry everything out. The cottage was spacious and very well equipped with a fabulous view over the lake. We did wonder why it did not have a 'gold' rating. The only thing wrong was that we had requested the single beds should be made as a double and they weren't.
-
"Beautiful cottage."
View from conservatory was outstanding and was a lovely reading/relaxing area. Bedrooms and bathrooms comfortable. Lots of crockery/pans/cutlery-everything we needed to make any meal. Only very minor feedback is that a coffee pod machine would have been the icing on the cake!
-
"Tumble dryer wasn't working."
Otherwise another great holiday at Garden Cottage. Have already booked for next year.
-
"Garden Cottage was perfect for our lovely week in the Lake District."
It had everything we needed and the views across Coniston Water were spectacular, in sun and rain!
-
"Garden Cottage is situated in a lovely setting over looking Coniston Water."
The cottage was spotlessly clean and extremely well appointed. We would recommend Garden Cottage without hesitation. Superb
-
"Thank you for another lovely week in your beautiful home!"
We've been visiting this fabulous cottage for nearly 10 years now! We have been lucky with the weather and have done some great walks. We also recommend a trip o the steam yacht gondola - fab! Thanks again!
-
"A week visiting to complete the Lakeland half marathon."
- Wonderful Accommodation - Great Walking - A fantastic butchers hidden away in what looks like a sweetshop! Many thanks!
-
"A four night stay in this beautiful cottage, arguably one of the best we have ever had the pleasure of staying in."
-
"Our 6th visit to this cottage which keeps on getting better!"
-
"Arrived in the rain, left in the rain!"
But even the weather couldn’t spoil our stay in this beautiful cottage with stunning views.
-
"The property location was excellent and the views from the conservatory and rear decking are fabulous."
The house is delightful with everything you require for a relaxing holiday.

Facilities and comfort at the cottage. We enjoyed the beautiful view. It was very peaceful and relaxing.
