  • "Our second time at the lodge."

Perfect location and surroundings. The lodge is looking a bit tired now and could use some updating. Minor issues like the fire not working, the boilers water pressure needs sorting out ( nearly an hour to run a bath). General wear and tear of the flooring/ cupboard doors. A security light over the steps so you can see where you are going would help. That said, the beds, pillows, duvets all lovely and comfortable. Plenty of towels and soaps/ shower gels. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make a full meal. Tvs/ wifi all great. Very cozy on our cold and windy and wet stay. Will be back again

Thank you for your feedback. We work hard to make sure the lodge is in top condition so that guests can enjoy your stay. It is a feature of combination boilers (which exist in all lodge accommodation) that during cold weather, once the central heating is on, there is slightly slower hot water output. There are also showers in each of the 2 bathrooms. The boiler was replaced this year and is regularly maintained. Sorry you did not notice the 2 sets of outside lights (the switches are inside the lodge) which illuminate the whole of the steps and decking. Property Owner

  • "After a 300 mile trip we walked into the lodge to a very strong musky smell, opening all the windows and doors aired the property, but the smell returned as soon as they were closed again."

Returning from days out we were greeted with this smell. Looking around the lodge we found the main bathroom toilet wasn't fixed; so moved when sat on. The 'jacuzzi' bath although still advertised has been replaced with a standard style tub. The basin drawer didn't close properly, along with 3 of the kitchen doors also. The floor in the kitchen has water damage and sinks when walked on, same in the bathroom. My wife freaked out when she found previous occupants hair in the bedroom drawers, and on the window sill. This combined with the smell made us feel dirty throughout our stay, so much so we left a few days early. The lodge can be described as 'tired'. We feel the advert photo's need updating to reflect its current appearance, inside and out as much has changed. The wifi is weak, drops out often and can't be used with the smart tv. The park itself is very nice, with great views, and access to the lake, with a nice bar grill onsite. A great base for exploring the area.

We are sorry that you had any issues when staying at our lodge. Upon your departure we did not find any evidence of any smell. There are contact numbers in the guest file at the lodge for both the owner and housekeeper. if there are any issues we can then aim to resolve them asap. However we were never contacted. Previous reviews evidence a high standard of cleanliness. The bathrooms and flooring were replaced earlier this year. The flooring and the doors have all been checked and there is no issue. The jacuzzi bath is not referred to on the Sykes website. Property Owner

Very comfortable and clean lodge with big decking area which sadly we didn't get to use due to the rain. Despite our conversation, a plumber didn't attend to fix the non flushing toilet, we kept putting the clips back on inside to enable it to flush but looking at previous reviews this is an ongoing issue. More cutlery and crockery are needed as 6 plates/forks etc isn't enough if some are in the dishwasher. Poor Wifi.

Thank you for your feedback. The plumbing issues were rectified on the same day that you raised the issue. I am really pleased that you enjoyed your break. Property Owner

  • "Hello. The lodge is in urgent need of serious maintenance the hall toilet malfunctioned 3 times putting it out of action eventually repaired professionally the most serious was the bannister hand rail leading down the steps from the very slippery decking the post was completely rotted away my wife is registered disabled and felt very unsteady and unsafe when using theses steps."

The interior photos of this lodge are completely misleading the web page advertising this lodge show completely different images to the actual interior The dining chairs have no fire safety warning on the underside of the seat because the covers under the chairs are literally ripped apart. I complained about all of this and more, to Lake District Lodge Holidays but have had no response. On a more positive note the actual site and its surroundings are very lovely and pleasant. We enjoyed the holiday but felt the holiday lodge was our greatest let down and should not be advertised as it is on Lake District Lodge Holidays web page without a true representation of its upto date features.

We are disappointed and somewhat surprised with your feedback. The toilet which is one of two was working on your arrival and the minor issue with the flushing of the toilet which has recently been replaced as part of the upgrading of the bathrooms was fixed by the plumber who arrived within 30 minutes of your message to us. The dining chairs have all been replaced and are compliant with fire standards. We mentioned to you the banister rail had come loose due to the prolonged recent wet weather and that this was booked in with the decking fitters for repair asap. The interior photos are slightly different as we have replaced and upgraded the sofas dining table and chairs and both bathrooms all of which should enhance a guests stay at the lodge. We find your review very unfortunate in light of the previous recent very positive feedback. Property Owner

Very clean and well maintained. Slightly uphill from the reception, Entertainment centre and restaurant. And down hill to the lake . Both short walks so ideal position. The lodge had everything you need for a nice short break .( apart from a hairdryer, luckily I had taken my own). Nice big towels . Tea towels .washing up liquid. Iron and ironing board . High chair and travel cot ( we took a mattress for the cot ,and sheets ) . Nice big decking area ( but very slippery due to weather ) no gate but I think a large sheet of wood would be a good idea just to stop your dog or baby getting out ,. Would recommend.

Unfortunately on this occasion we had a few problems with the smart tv. I did report this to sykes on the first day of our holiday and i did get a prompt reponse. The owner followed up on the call as promised and the problem appeared to be sorted. However this only lasted for about 3 hours and the connection went down again. I didnt bother to report this again at the time as we managed with just the terrestrial tv and i didnt want to constantly pester the owner. I just wanted to make you aware so you are able to sort out a long term solution for the comfort of future guests.

Thank you for your feedback. Had you kept in touch with us we would have been able to resolve your difficulties. The Wi-Fi at Fallbarrow reliably supports the Smart TV Apps. Had you contacted us we would have been able to guide you through the log in procedure or arranged on site assistance via Fallbarrow staff. We have since checked the TV system and there is no problem. We are always available to help our guests with any issues. Property Owner

We left the door open to try and release this odour but has the heating kick in just got worst. without this problem the property would have been great. We left and return nxt day to collect our belongings which had the smell in our car. we inform sykes monday but nothing was done to help, Bar emails back and forth PS we never ask for a refund we didn't want someone esle holiday ruined.

Thank you for your feedback. The previous guests departed on the day of your arrival and the lodge was thoroughly cleaned around midday. Due to the thorough cleaning, the use of various products can be evident. No spray or plug in air fresheners are used by the cleaners or owners in the lodge. You did not contact us on your arrival to inform us of any issues. If you had, we would have suggested you turn down the thermostat and open the many windows in the lodge for a short period of time. The beds were very comfortable, the sofa was lovely and you could tell it was new. Unfortunately we would not be able to stay again with dogs as there is no gates on the decking which would make it impossible to come in warmer weather as we couldn’t enjoy the decking and views. It made it very hard when packing and unpacking the car keeping the dogs indoors. It’s a shame as you will lose business not having one, we would have definitely been back. It is stated in the information but we didn’t notice when we first booked. Also there is a brush but no dustpan and I tried to hoover but the Dyson is so heavy and hard to use I gave up. But apart from those little things we had a perfect new year thank you

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay over the New Year. When we replaced the decking, we widened the steps substantially to give better access to the lodge. This made it easier to get from a car into the lodge whilst carrying luggage etc. Unfortunately this resulted in it not being possible to have a properly working gate. Property Owner

  • "The lodge is described as child/dog friendly, but there is no gate on the decking."

There is a gate in the picture. We were not happy, as we have a golden retriever puppy. We booked this lodge as it was dog friendly and had a gate, so we could let him out on the decking. We texted the owner, to ask for help. We had a missed call from them, as we were walking the dog. They did not leave a message and made no attempt to contact us. They knew we were not happy. We ended up having to use some of the patio furniture to block the gap, so he could come out on the decking. This meant we did not have enough seats for us all to sit on the decking. We paid so much for this particular lodge, so we could all sit out together. The front door is quite difficult to lock. We ended up having to only use the patio doors when we went out. The couches are not comfortable at all. We had read other reviews saying this, but assumed the owners would have done something about it, as there were a lot of complaints. We found a wine glass with lipstick from previous guests. The cutlery wasn't very clean. We read a previous review saying they had received a welcome pack of food. This is not the case - you do get cleaning items, soap and shower gel. The decking is in desperate need of power washing, and the roof really needs cleaned. The lodge is a nice size. The main bedroom is very big. All of the beds are comfortable. The dining table is a lovely size. There are plenty of kitchen utensils etc for use. WiFi was never a problem. Initial contact was good, plenty of communication right up until arrival. Keys were easy to access. Just very disappointed with contact when we arrived, as owners did not seem to be interested at all.

The decking was replaced last year with widened steps for easy access to the decking. We do not state that the decking is totally secure. We did try to call you as soon as we received your text in order that we could discuss the options , but you did not call us back. We assumed therefore that you had resolved the issue. Had a leak from the dishwasher despite having not used it once, called the owner who saw to it immediately and sent someone over to fix a problem with one of the drain pipes. Slight inconvenience caused but good to see they tended to the problem promptly. Only improvement needed is the standard of cleaning, particularly the floor and the kitchen/living room area. The coffee table and sofas were dirty with sticky marks on them, the floor rug is filthy and just serves to collect dirt and dust and both the kitchen worktops and abinet handles were dirty. Floor looks dirty and I'd expect it to be washed and sanitised in between bookings. The hoover was so filthy that I simply could not use it! We also had a puddle of water in the living area, we think it was a leak from the radiator. No foil for grilling. Not the weekend we were expecting to be honest.

Some time the weather is hot so i think you need to provide AC or at least fan in the cottage

Thank you for your feedback. I am surprised you found any of the beds small for your use. The main bedroom has a full size double and the second and third bedrooms full size single beds. Given normal Lake District weather we have not previously had requests for air conditioning etc Many thanks Property Owner

  • "Fantastic lodge next to Lake Windermere, and within a few minutes walk into Bowness."

The Lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly have needed. The living / dining area was spacious enough for 5 adults and the bedrooms were extremely comfy, and the TV's in each bedroom were a great bonus. We had a slight problem with the heating, but after a quick phone call to the owner this was rectified promptly, even on Christmas Eve! We had a lovely break and would highly recommend Beech Lodge to anyone planning a visit to the Lake District.

  • "The lodge was nice and comfortable its location was great just a few minutes walk into town."

The TV was a bit hard to watch as it kept freezing due to the weather. Unfortunately the British weather did its worst and after 4 days of constant rain we called it a day and went home early but had no complaints at all about the lodge or it setting.

  • "My wife and I have been looking for this type of location for years and although having stayed in this area before, we were not aware of this holiday park and its superb location."

The property at Beech Hill Lodge was excellent, very comfortable and had everything we required with a high quality of extras (i.e. not cheap cutlery and items which you would not have at home). Apart from the property the location allowed us to relax and enjoy a stress free holiday. The fact that we did not require to drive every day and were only a 5 minute walk into town for all the facilities was excellent. Also the location of the park on the shore of Lake Windermere was lovely and you could enjoy a nice walk without actually leaving the park. Overall the property and park were excellent and we will most likely return in the future.
